the consumer giants yelled

"we need more money you know

let's create a new event

one that will make our coffers grow"

so they all met in the consumer castle

and drank wine, whiskey and rum

and plotted to create a sensation

many $$$$ signs to come

"i know", one giant bellowed

:let's prey on their emotions

let's make a holiday of love

it will be a money ocean"

so valentine's day came to be

a day of love and expression

flowers and candy and cards

and diamonds ... money spent without question

and the consumer giants laughed

at the folly of women and men

out doing each other to prove their love

to each other, but in the end

wouldn't it be better for us all

to show our love, each and every day

just one little kindness, with each sunrise

and make valentine's day ...
