Part Fifteen: Determination
Frisk's POV:
We attempted to run to the main path between Snowdin and Waterfall for a few minutes and eventually made it over. We ran over to see blood and we both started to panic. As we pushed our way through the wall of snow and wind, we realized that something was wrong. Very wrong.
"Sans?" Chara called out, panic edging in her voice.
"Chara! Frisk! Over here!" Sans' voice called from the white void, guiding us.
After a few seconds of running, we saw him and ran over, kneeling beside him. There was blood and bone marrow, and the crumpled figure of Papyrus.
I started making frantic hand gestures and Chara tried to understand but after a minute or two of trying she gave up, "I-I can't understand. J-Just help us if you can."
As she looked away I frowned a little bit, thinking that might have been an insult, but pushed it aside as I saw the peril that Papyrus was in.
He clutched his side and struggled to keep his hands there, Sans applying pressure at the spot too, trying not to panic, though he wasn't doing too well hiding this fact. I shuffled closer and listened to the explanation that Chara had prompted out of Sans.
"We were fighting, trying to give you as much time to get away and do whatever you needed to do. Papyrus was distracted because Monster Kid was being a pest, and Undyne threw a spear at him, clipping the side of his ribs, a-and he's bleeding. I-I can't stop the bleeding because of the angle it was thrown at him and I-I can't get a good pressure on it because of all the blood and marrow. W-What do I do?" He raised his voice at the end, panic rising in his voice as he went on.
I tapped on his shoulder and he turned to me, his posture and movement sharp, and I flinch at his quick movement.
I put a hand on his chest, which I can feel his rapid breathing through, and then put a hand on my own. I breathe in slowly and out slowly, gesturing for him to do the same.
Chara's eyes widen as she sees what I'm doing and nods at me encouragingly, prompting me to continue.
Sans clues in and starts doing as I was doing, calming himself, the panic lessening.
He turned around, about to continue, but we both froze as a bright red spear went through Chara's chest.
I whipped around to see Undyne and Monster Kid approaching rapidly, murder in their gaze, and I turn to Sans.
"Chara!" He shouts, taking her into his lap, abandoning Papyrus for the time being.
"CHARA!" Papyrus also managed, his consciousness foggy.
I cupped my hands over my mouth as I felt the tears unleash, looking at Chara. I crawled over and held her hand, cupping it, praying for her, something I had never done before for anyone or anything, not even my voice.
"WATCH OUT!" Papyrus brought me back to the realization that we were still in danger and I looked up, at the approaching pair, who were just quick walking now.
I frowned a deep frown, and stood up, feeling my heart beating faster than a drum solo. I started towards them too, drawing my fingers together at my sides as fists, ready to fight these people, despite the lack of fighting skills.
"WHAT ARE YOU DOING?" I heard Papyrus ask, but I ignored him, continuing to approach the pair.
"Look who's brave all of a sudden! Little Frisk, the voiceless introvert!" Undyne taunted, but I ignored the comment, only a few steps away from her now.
Monster Kid watched eagerly, not looking like he wanted to get involved at this point.
She summoned a spear, laughing, and I moved back a step and then pushed forward, propelling my fist forwards. For a second it had a red glow and as it made contact with her, something even she looked shocked at, she fell backward, dropping the spear. Her armor was dented.
"What the hell?" She yelled.
I saw movement from Monster Kid and I dipped down, pushing his back legs, pushing him further away and further into the snow.
"What the hell was that?" Undyne shouted, suddenly back onto her feet and towering over me.
"Determination," I said under my breath, the word ragged.
I pushed her back again and then said, "If you don't leave now I will hurt you!"
She narrowed her eyes and then saw something behind me, which freaked her out. Monster Kid struggled his way up and also looked frightened by something behind me. I turned around and dropped down as Sans yelled, "Hit the deck, Frisk!"
Clapping my hands over my head I heard whooshing and could only assume those sounds, were the sounds of attacks. I could hear Undyne yelling something at Monster Kid.
Then things got still. Very still, very silent.
