5 | Nimana | The Three Goddess
I was speed walking down the street when my wrist was snatched by Akal. I turn immediately and pushed him backwards. I let out loud huffs.
"Don't touch me!" I held aggression in my voice. Erasmus got between us immediately.
"Woah!—woah?? Lets calm down." He spoke.
"I didn't mean to upset you Nimana." Akal says. I shook my head. I can't help her, I just can't. Nimue I am sorry. My brain was fled with painful thoughts as I brushed my hand over my hair, and ruined my laid edges but I seem to have forgotten they were there.
It would start raining now and again I turned my back away from them.
"She's crying." Erasmus murmured. My body began to convulse and I let out weeping sounds, as I failed to keep my calm composure.
"Why would you do that Akal? You know how sensitive she is?" I heard another voice from Erasmus. They think it was their fault. But it was actually me. All of me. I told her I didn't want to stress about this. I told her. There was slight lightning and thunder clacking sounds heard in the sky. The inescapable weight on my chest was weighing me down as I crouched and hugged my knees. I was embarrassed as I failed to hold in my uncontrollable sobs.
It would rain twice as hard as the water hits my clothes, soaking it immediately and flattening my hair. It was silent, yet the rain was loud. I hate showing my vulnerable side to them. Why am I like this?
"Nimana." Akal says. I stayed in my same little crouched position.
"If she keeps crying, the rain will never stop and the school might as well cancel Genesis Day—" Erasmus kept talking.
"That's not helping.." Akal respond immediately. I am sniffling now. The rain slowly stopped. I get up and wipe my face like a child. I let out this gasp that sound more like a yawn. I turned around and Akal and Erasmus was soaked. Erasmus looked like a wet Pomeranian.
"Your eyeliner is messed up." Erasmus pointed out before getting elbowed in the chest by Akal. Erasmus let out this grunt as he held his chest and takes a couple of deep breaths.
"No he's right, I am a mess and I probably ruined Genesis Day." I sound like I was going to sob again, and I hope I wouldn't. But by surprise, I was pulled into a bear hug of wet skin. Wasn't the most satisfying hug either since Erasmus had large hairy arms which was tickling my skin.
"Just don't cry again, seriously." He says to me in a whiny tone.
"Next time you make Nimana cry I will cut you!" Erasmus turned his head and yelled at Akal. Erasmus pressed the side of my face against his body. He smelled like leather an earthy and musky smell with a hint of nickel. I chuckled at the odd odor. Erasmus glanced down at me with his cheesy smile, his left dimple showing too.
"I am surprised she didn't cry by your ignorant insults!" Akal hollered back with irritation. I couldn't help but to laugh at that. My laugh went on for a little while as the sky was now clear.
"Can we build the floaty now since this whole drama fest is over?" Erasmus asked. My expression changed immediately to a blank one. I was staring at Akal as I thought about Nimue. My sister, she will have to do this without my help. I stare down at my feet.
"Yeah.. Let's do that." My voice was quiet.
Later that evening; the Genesis Parade would soon have begun, and along with my sisters Coronation right after. Our large floaty was now ready. The floaty was one large ring and It was covered in flowers, grass, mushrooms, all of natural resources of the dimensions. We were at the gates of the city of empyrean, stuck in a large lines of competitors that was waiting for the approval by our city overseer.
"I can't believe we're doing this!" Erasmus said with excitement.
"Neither can I." There was a high pitch voice coming from behind our floaty. We all turned to look. There was three girls, all wearing light pink, and fuzzy clothing that barely hid their skin. The worst part is that Erasmus couldn't keep his dirty eyes off of them.
"Your floaty smells like sewage." The girl said before she pretend to fake cough to mock us. I almost laughed because I thought the comment was completely random, despite Erasmus lovey-dovey gaze upon these she-devils. I bet he was expecting something more, classy.
"Well you both look like three pink peas in a pod so it looks like we both have problems." I fixed my expression and glared at them, managing to keep my smile hidden.
"What kind of comeback is that?" The other girl smirked. I clenched my jaw as I lift my left brow up.
"Although, your friends do look cute." The girl had this glint in her eye as she cheekily smiled with her high cheek bones. Damn those cheek bones for real. Akal fell into the trap immediately just by the smell of her.
"What's your name again?" Akal voice shifted to a soft tone.
"I am Anansa, the goddess of beauty." Her lashes blinked excessively. She was the girl with the high cheekbones.
"This is Hathor the goddess of love." She'd place a hand on Hathors shoulder as she pulled the other girl in for a hug.
"And Kendi, the goddess of lust." Kendi winked at Akal and he became flustered. Now this all makes sense.
This was there doing, its a trap.
The three ladies kept talking and talking but only to the boys. In response, they would softly chuckle, and tackle a pretty boy role.
"How did you get so lucky girl? Erasmus is such a cutie." Kendi was smiling like crazy. Erasmus would just shrug.
"One of my many talents." He says.
"Don't get distracted, they're the enemy." I grab them both by their arms and turned away from them.
"Damn, you can't share?" Kendi let out an giggle. I ignored the comment. I let out a sigh as I glanced up at them both.
"You two are idiots." I sound almost disappointed. Erasmus shrugged.
"You can't be jealous because they have good looks Nimana, besides.. Kendi—even her name is coying." He says. I would just glare at him with ill temper. I wait it just for him to turn to look at me and he backed up at my expression. He held this mischievous grin as he side eye Kendi with the same lustful gaze.
"She's trouble Erasmus, pull yourself together!" I said with boldness.
"Remember why we're here." I went on. Erasmus was bothered by me as he turned away to talk to the three pretty goddesses. I let out a sigh, turning towards the front of the line. Eventually we had finally met up with the overseer, he gave us the approval stamp and we were finally ready to board our large floaty and prepare for the greatest moments in our entire life.
Akal helped me up onto the platform of our large naturalistic halo. Erasmus was in the front, steering the large platform and allowed it to move. As we head off, we drove past the crowd of people cheering. There was confetti everywhere, other floaties with bright lights and throwing candy and other goods. We were throwing hand maid pearl necklaces and shells. Birds and butterlies accompanied our floaty. Smiles spread across our faces at this sight. People thrown flower crowns on our head for us to wear as we all placed it on. Even during the late evening, the city seemed bright and luminous.
I looked over at Akal with a smile and he sees this, except he wasn't smiling back. It was more of an acquainted expression. My face fell at this. I turn away from him to get rid of these sorrowful and hurt emotions. But when I turned, I was shocked to see the most bold pink floaty that I have ever seen. It was covered in all sorts of roses, however there was one large crown which had surround the platform. At the very top of the crown was Kendi, Hathor, and Anansa. They were wearing the most gorgeous dresses that I've ever seen. They looked amazing, and I hated it.
Not only did the floaty caught everyone's attention but their looks did too. As of that moment, I knew we lost. I turned around and I saw Akal staring hard at them. He looked away, staring down at me with a frown.
"They look amazing." He said to me.
"I know, they're dangerous.. I don't think we'll win." My face fell into a sorrowful expression again, my eyes became droopy as I gaze up towards him.
"We tried our best." I uttered. I watched Akal's face. I couldn't tell what was on his mind the way that he was staring at me. His brows furrowed at me and his jaw clenched.
"It's not over yet." He said.
"Use your water abilities, make sure it rains, only light rain." He says to me. I blow out some air and then consumed air through my nose as I nod my head. I slowly raise both hands as I take a step forward in the very front of the platform which had caught everyone's attention. I closed my eyes as I dug into my vulnerable thoughts and a single tear fell down my face as I slowly push both arms down and it soon lightly rains. As this was happening, I turned to notice the flowers phasing, they were cycling. Growing, blooming, withering, and more flowers would grow from other places in a halo like form and the cycle began again. The crowd gasped at this. My eyes widen and my mouth would open in the shape of an O'.
"This is genius.. Showing the circle of life to the people to represent Genesis Day." I look at Akal, his eyes were a faded shade of blue. He didn't seem to hear me.
"Holy shit—we're amazing!" Erasmus says, yelling from the drivers seat.
My smile never left my face as I saw the reaction of the people. I continued to throw necklaces and roses which had bloomed in my path at the Gods. A relieved sigh escaped my lips as I stared up at the sky which seems to be yellow as the sun began to finally hide behind the earth.
