Chapter 13
Zia softly closed the door behind her as she got into her apartment. She was feeling dazed as she knew that Vian had left an unerasable, unforgettable scar in her memory. She sighed heavily and closed her eyes as she pressed her back to the door and leaned her head on it. As confusion started to cloud her mind once more, Zia sank back to the floor. She hugged her knees closer to herself and closed her eyes as memories of the evening flooded into her mind once more.
"Zia"
Zia looked up as she felt a soft hand on her shoulder. She did not know when, but tears had rooted down her cheeks. Lily gasped as she saw the state Zia was in, and she kneeled before her, hugging her close.
"What happened darling?" she asked, as Zia put her arms comfortingly around her.
"I don't know." Zia replied, even though she knew that it was not exactly what had happened.
"Did Vian do anything for you?" Lily asked, as Zia felt her stiffen in anger in her hold. Zia chuckled.
"Vian is too much of a gentleman to do anything that I don't want to do." She replied and Lily loosened up once more. She chuckled as she released Zia and sat back before her.
"So, what else made you like this?" she asked, trying to read her.
Zia took a deep sigh before she looked at her best friend. "Can I take a shower and then talk about this?" she asked. Lily did not want to agree with her, and she knew that she wanted to know what had happened to her, but she nodded because she knew that Zia needed a shower to clear her mind. She stood up and gave her hands to Zia, who got to her feet with Lily's help. Lily did not let her go even after she had stood up and she put her arms around her best friend as she chuckled and hugged her close. Even though she was chuckling, Lily was not stupid enough to neglect the sad tear that escaped through her lips which touched her shoulder.
Zia smiled once more at Lily and turned towards her room. She felt herself burdened with numerous worries and she wondered whether she would ever be the same. As she switched on the light in her room, her eyes scanned the room which made her remember where she had spent time happily as she had learnt that she was going to spend a complete day with Vian. But now, looking at it made her think how the tables had been turned. Shaking her head, as tears started to cloud her vision once more, Zia removed her shawl, coat, and shoes as she sat on the bed. She heaved a heavy sigh once more and pulled her nose up. She removed her glasses and put them on the bedside table when her breath hitched up to her throat once more, as her eyes fell on the framed photograph which she had placed just last week on the small table. It was a photograph of Vian hugging Zia from behind as she was laughing at the camera. Even though Zia was laughing heartily in the photograph, Vian was looking sideways at Zia, as though she was the most beautiful girl he had ever seen, while love overflowed from his eyes.
Zia sighed and fell back onto the bed as she took the frame and hugged it closely. Silent tears started to flow unrestricted from the corners of her eyes as she remembered how time had been lucky then. She knew that they had not expressed their love for each other at the moment, but just taking a glance at them had been enough for anyone to see how in love they were. She pulled her nose up once more. For Zia, it felt as though their love was written in the stars and that they had just spent time away from each other, while they had lasted forever, finding each other to fall into each other's arms, as they fell head first into the warmth hands of love.
Zia shook her head as she sat up straight once more. She knew that she needed a warm shower first and then think. She closed her eyes as she tried to clear her mind and she got under the shower. The hot water sprinkled on her, and she closed her eyes as the warmth made her muscles feel relaxed. She looked up at the shower head as the water started to make her skin feel burnt.
She let a long breath from out of her mouth. For all the time that Zia had known Zack, she had not thought that there would come a day that she would regret meeting him. But that day, Zia found herself wondering why fate had to be so cruel to her as she had just decided to completely be Vian's when it had finally brought back Zack into her life. She wondered why all of it had happened to her at once. She knew how worried Vian had been on all the times that the two of them had spent together, and she had even felt him come to form the words which she had been looking forward to finally hear from him since a long time ago, but he had decided against it, as though he knew that there was a better time and a better place to mutter the words to her waiting ears.
Zia knew that she was being unreasonable. Barely a month ago, she had come out of a long relationship, and she wondered what she was doing as she had tried so hard not to fall into relationship with Vian, but at the same time which had proven her hard to do, as she had fallen head over heels in love with him at the first glance. She rubbed her eyes tight as she wondered whether she was doing the right thing. She wondered whether she had decided to spend time with Vian in order to fill in the empty void that Zack had left in her heart. But as soon as that thought came into her mind, she shook her head trying to erase it. She knew that whatever she had felt for Zack, did not even come to ten miles closer to what she was feeling with Vian. She had always believed that when the time and situation was right, however in the state she might be, she would find the love of her life, which she knew that she was meant to spend her forever with. And that was exactly what had happened with Vian. She had least expected him to show up when she was in a frenzy of emotions, and he had carelessly and easily done so, as he had just stolen her heart as soon as her eyes had found his from across her table in that café.
Letting a deep breath from out of her mouth, Zia changed onto fresh clothes as she stared at herself from out of the mirror. She knew that she was looking like a mess, even though her appearance looked clear after the shower. She dried her hair and brushed it. Her thoughts went back towards Vian as her fingers slowly touched her lips. She pulled her lips inside, as she remembered how soft Vian's lips had been, and she found herself looking forward to having the feeling of them on her lips once more. She bit her lips as a shy smile of the first kiss they had shared came up to her memory once more. She had had dreamed about it on various occasions with various after effects and dreams. But none of them had ended up after a confusion which even brought Zack into the picture. From the first kiss they had shared, which Zia was able to understand as though she had been listening to the strings which were played in Vian's heart, she knew that it had been a kiss to make her see that she was his territory. She knew that he was too possessive of her, even though he had never told or shown her so. She chuckled once more as she remembered how hardly Vian had kissed her, when he had been trying to make it soft for all the numerous times, they had nearly missed the chance to do so.
Sighing as she turned towards the room's door once more, Zia hurriedly turned back as her eyes just crept past something on her table. She hurried closer towards it and her breath hitched on her throat as she saw the silver chain that Vian had put around her neck that evening. She took it slowly into her hands, as though it was fragile, she looked closely at it. She did not remember removing it, but she realized that she might have done so before she had taken a shower. She took a shaky breath as she remembered how Vian had looked at her when he had closed the latch behind her neck, as though it was a wordless confession of promises to the future. She knew that Vian might have spent a lot on the chain, because it did not only mean expensive, it also was priceless for Zia. For all the times she had waited for Zack to go on a date with him, he had never ever expressed his love for her with such an action. There were many moments which had made Zia wonder whether she was making Zack spend his time with her, because even at the times that they were together, Zack had mostly been absorbed in his own world. Zia knew that Zack was not cruel. He was too shy for her own good, and she knew that he too was inexperienced in love, for he had wanted to build a good future for himself and had always been too much attached to his work than Zia.
Zia took a deep breath once more as she sank back onto the bed. She looked at the chain in her hand once more. She knew that she did not expect such luxuries from him. She had just wanted to make Zack feel that he was actually in love with her, for the few times they had spent together in the past years when they had been dating. She shook her head once more. Zia knew that Vian had showered her with love, even before they had started to make things official between them and she smiled for herself, as she found her hands securing the chain carefully around her neck while she realized that her mind had made the decision for her. She did not want riches, she just needed love, and she knew that Vian could give it to her, like she had always wanted to.
Zia held the pendant on her fingers, as it made her feel as though she was closer to Vian. She came out of her room and chuckled for herself as she saw that Lily had fallen asleep on the sofa, while she had been waiting for Zia. Laughing softly for herself, Zia brought a blanket from Lily's room for her, and put it around her. She tucked her in carefully and placed a light kiss on her forehead before she came back into her room and closed the door behind her.
Falling back on to her pillow, Zia took her phone in to her hands. She bit her lips before she switched it on as she knew that she was expecting a text from him, even though she knew that he would not have done so. So, debating with herself, wondering whether she should text him or not, which she had found as a habit that was hard to make her come out of, for she had spent nights chatting with him, where the dark night whispered their messages to each other.
Deciding that she should let him take his time, as she thought that spending a day without him would be enough to make her clarify whether she actually needed him or not (for she actually knew the answer beforehand), she switched on the phone. She bit her lips shyly as she stared at his handsome picture on her lock screen, and she stared dazedly at it. She knew that she could spend forever just by looking at his pictures when she swiped all the notifications from various advertisements and went to her gallery. Zia smiled to herself, as she scrolled through the hundreds of photos they had taken for the single day. She knew that it was the perfect day of all her life and except for the little darkness that had fallen over it in the form of Zack, the day had been too good to be true.
Zia sighed as she finally closed her eyes, dreaming about Vian. She knew that Zack had just wanted to apologize as he had met her earlier, but she wondered whether that had actually made a positive impact on her relationship with Vian, because she knew that now she did not have to go back into confusion, for she had cleared things out with him. Now that her path was clear, Zia knew that she just had to wait until Vian's flight landed back in London the next evening. Sending him a hearty kiss from her mind, Zia drifted off to sleep, as his handsome face swam into her focus once more, where they were spending an uninterrupted day in her dreams.

Vian paced around his room, as he closed his eyes and thought. He knew that Zia would not leave him, but he also wondered whether that belief itself would be enough for her to come back to him. He knew that he hated Zack for coming into their lives to spoil the moment that he had been forever to spend with Zia. Their day had gone beautifully except for his appearance, to spoil it. For the thousandth time that evening, Vian wondered what he had said to his girl to make her look confused. He gripped his hair tight and sank back to the sofa as he wanted to scream out aloud and take Zia back into his arms, where he knew that she truly belonged.
Vian tried to take some deep breaths as a soft smile went up his lips as he remembered the confused state in which he had left her. He knew that what Zia had been feeling for him was too beautiful to put into words for he had known that she had just fallen in love with him when her eyes had finally found his from across the table on that fateful morning in that café. Vian actually felt proud of himself. He had finally kissed the girl of his heart, and he knew that if the love that Zia had for him will not bring her back to him, then at least that kiss will do, for he had just poured all of his unsplit words, unshed memories, unspoken love, unseen future, unknown promises into that single kiss, which had made him feel certain that she was the one for him.
Vian shook his head as he sat up straight once more. He took his phone into his hand and stared at their photo on his lock screen. The photo was taken in the beginning stage of their relationship, where they had not even expressed any promising words to each other, but that photo was proof enough to say that they were head over heels in love at first glance and that they were meant to be together, for he knew that their love was written in the stars. Taking a deep breath and trying to calm down his racing heart, as just a glance at her photo had already helped him in achieving it, Vian went to his room and closed his eyes as he sank onto the bed because he knew that he needed a clear mind because he had to fly the next day.

Zia woke up to find that Lily had left a note for her on the refrigerator. She had said that she had an early meeting to attend to and that she would be late coming home that night because she was going on a date. Zia's mood fell as she saw her note because she had been looking forward to going to the café for breakfast with her.
Not wanting to miss her favorite meal on her favorite 'Oh So Good, Café', Zia dressed herself pleasantly and pulled her hair into a high ponytail before she locked the door behind her and went towards the café. The café was looking deserted just like the previous time, and Zia took her seat on the far corner of the café in her usual seat. She stared at her waffles in front of her and started to dine in when she suddenly looked up as she felt a shadow fall across her.
Zia was amazed. She was not able to believe who was in front of her eyes. She wanted to get on to her feet and jump into his arms, but she just smiled, for she knew that there were other customers in the café, and she knew that she did not need any public attention. Just having a smart and handsome man sit in front of her was enough to make heads turn, and Zia knew that she did not want any one, or rather any girls, eyeing his man.
Zia looked into his blue eyes as he smiled cunningly at him and slowly pulled the chair back and sat in front of her. A shy smile was creeping on to her lips as she found her fingers play with the chain around her neck and she still stared at the man in front of her eyes, for she knew that the love she had for him would make her a lunatic if she spent any more time without him.
"Ma'am"
A voice tried to break her eyes, but she did not want to turn her head. She saw the blue eyed man stare deep into her eyes, and a shy smile blushed her face once more.
"Ma'am?"
Who was that? Zia did not turn even though the voice tried to interrupt her once more.
"Ma'am?"
The voice interrupted her loudly this time, and hissing in anger, Zia turned to look up. A man was standing near her, and she looked angrily at him.
"What?"
She barked at the man as he took a step back. He was about forty years old, and Zia knew that she had scared the man.
"What?" she asked more calmly this time and looked up at the man.
"Erm," the man started wondering whether the girl will shout at him once more. "Can I take this seat please?" he asked. "Everywhere else is full." He added in explanation as Zia's eyebrows scrunched up and she looked around her.
Yes, he was right.
The café was crowded soon but she looked at the man once more. She wondered whether he was blind for he had asked to take the seat that the man of her heart was sitting in.
"But there's already –"
Zia stopped short, as her eyebrows raised up on her forehead. She had just turned to indicate the taken seat when she saw that it was empty. As confusion clouded her eyes, Zia looked around her.
It was empty.
But where was he? Zia knew that he had seen him for sure and she turned around her in alarm, as she craned her head to look where he had gone to. Shaking her head as she wondered whether she had just imagined, or rather dreamed about him, Zia shook her head and looked up at the man once more.
"Yeah, yeah sure." She replied as though she was in a daze and looked down at her untouched plate of food. Sighing for herself, wondering how stupid she could be, for she knew that Vian might probably be in the flight now, she ate her breakfast hurriedly and went towards the bus station to go back to her work, as her mind filled with Vian, and she knew that she was already looking forward to spending time with him.
*
Zia knew that she was turning crazy. Wherever she turned, she saw him. When she went into her office, she saw him in her seat. When she looked out of her window, she saw him watching her like he had been doing a couple of days ago. When she went to the ward to check on her patients, she saw him leaning on the door frame, trying to catch her eye, which she skillfully avoided.
Zia shook her head as she came into her office in the evening. She knew that her heart was aching to be with him, and it was giving her too many signs to show that she needed him. She found herself staring at her watch absentmindedly wishing for time to fly faster, so that she could finally return what they had started the previous day and that she can be in his arms once more, where she knew that she actually belonged.
Zia skipped her lunch that day because she knew that she had lost her appetite. She requested her director asking permission for her to leave early due to unavoidable circumstances, she packed her bag and got ready to leave her work, when it was around four o' clock in the evening.
Zia hurried back into her empty apartment, and she took a hot shower. She got herself ready carefully, staring at her from the mirror and wondering whether Vian would like what he was seeing. She turned herself this way and that and after patting down her hair behind her back she booked a taxi to get to Heathrow Airport.
Zia stared out of the passing busy world as the taxi took her closer towards her love. She knew that she was dying inside until she finally looked at him as she found herself wondering and worrying whether he was alright. She knew enough about him to know that he was skillful enough on whatever he did and that as he was a very careful driver, there was no doubt in thinking whether he was a careful pilot or not.
Zia smiled to herself, and she looked down at her neck. She played with her chain and placed it carefully over the top of her blouse so that it was visible for him at the first glance. Smoothing down negligible creases on her coat, Zia looked beside her at the bouquet of roses and the box of chocolates she had brought for him. She chuckled as she remembered that she had been careful enough in selecting her favorite flavor of chocolate, because she knew that at the end of the day it would be she who will finish off the box of chocolates she had brought for him.
"We are here, madam."
Zia looked up as she finally, finally, reached the airport. She smiled at the driver and handed him over the cash before she got out of the taxi. It was six thirty and Zia knew that she was right on time. She knew that it would take about an hour for Vian to come out after he touches down, but she knew that waiting for him in the airport was better than waiting elsewhere.
As her heart beat louder and louder in her chest, Zia carefully held the bouquet and chocolates in her hand as she adjusted her hand bag on her shoulder. She quickly hurried into the washroom and checked for anything that she would like to adjust and noting that all looked good, she smiled at her reflection and went towards the exit, from where she knew that her pilot boyfriend would come out of.
Zia looked down at her watch and looked up once more. All was well. She just had to beat time to meet him once more.
