->Chapter Eight<-
->Fang<-
It was a perfect plan. Everyone was in place. He had given the signal to Jade, Ryft, and Raven to stand by.
He and Atlas were in a tight alleyway.
Besides Atlas's black eye, she and him were the most fit to fight.
He hadn't chosen Raven because she hadn't been acting right. Something was wrong with her, but he just couldn't figure it out.
He snapped back into focus at the sound of sneakers walking on hard cracked pavement.
The teens had figured out very quickly where the "Fallout Freaks" were keeping their supplies. It was a larger building than the rest, and it was mostly intact.
And there were guards.
The guards were a win-loose. Sure, they provided protection, but they were also a dead giveaway that something important was behind those closed doors.
All he and Atlas had to do was take out the guards and open the doors wide so Jade could run in with Raven and Ryft guarding her and take a medkit, assuming they could find one.
The sneakers got much closer. Fang nodded at Atlas.
->Atlas<-
Atlas leaped out of the alleyway behind Fang, staggering out into the road.
To her dismay, the guards were farther away than they had thought.
Fang let out a curse word, then charged and the now-fleeing boys, Atlas following.
They can't get far! We have to do this so that no one is alerted of our presence! Atlas's heart began beating hard. What would they do if they failed? I will not let that happen. I refuse to fail!
With a quiet grunt of effort, Atlas threw herself forward and grabbed one of the boy's hoodies, dragging him down with her onto the pavement.
The other guard's hesitation in reaction of his friend falling was enough to let Fang catch up.
Atlas hissed when she landed hard on her elbows and arms, scraping them harshly against the broken asphalt.
The boy she had dragged flew backwards and hit the ground headfirst. He was knocked out cold.
Atlas's arms stung so bad, she sat for awhile with tears in her eyes. She cursed quietly, then looked at Fang, who was giving Raven the signal.
->Raven<-
Raven glanced at Ryft and then tapped Jade on the shoulder.
There was barley a pause when Jade sped out of their hiding place, allowing Raven and Ryft to pass her so they could open the door.
Ryft beat Raven by a half second and they threw the doors open, Jade running through to collide with a surprised boy.
Raven swore and shouted for help from Fang and Atlas. They had expected this could happen. They had a backup plan.
Jade was grappling with the boy she had collided with, her face fierce and determined. There were people stirring inside the building, startled by the ruckus.
"Crap." Raven's heart sunk to her feet, then Ryft gave a battle cry.
->Ryft<-
If they won't do it, I'll do it myself!
Ryft had spotted a medkit, and by the look of it, no one else had. She gave a battle cry and bolted for it.
She shouldered a smaller boy out of the way like she was playing football and ripped the medkit free from the untidy pile of supplies. She whipped around, hitting the same boy in the face on accident, and ran to where Raven was yanking a guy away from Jade.
"I got it!" Ryft screamed. "Run back!"
Fang and Atlas, who had just arrived to the fight, skidded and whipped around, running back with everyone following them.
Oddly, no one was pursuing them, though some were shouting at someone specific. Raven flinched noticeably and sped up. Ryft risked a look back, and saw them regrouping.
"They must be tired of dealing with us!" Atlas shouted with delight.
->Third Person<-
The group slowed to a walk when they reached the shelter, all breathing heavily. Hopefully, they weren't too late.
When they turned the corner to the alley, a weight seemed to slam down on all of them.
Soul and Spirit were gone.
Fang swore and ran to the hatch, but Atlas beat him. She disappeared down into the hole, and a moment later she was screaming.
"Silver is gone!"
"We never should have trusted those-those-" Ryft was spitting with rage.
"Those traitors!" Fang looked equally angry.
Raven didn't say a word, but it was easy to infer she was ready to hurt someone.
"Were still here!" Spirit stepped from the shadows behind the ruble.
Raven immediately spun around she grabbed her by the shirt collar, pulling her up.
"Where!" She uttered one word, and everyone was speechless with shock.
"Hey!" Soul emerged from the same place as Spirit had. "Let go of.. her..." She trailed off when spotting the angry group.
"I can explain!" Spirit choked. "Just put me down!"
Raven dropped her and stepped back.
Spirit rubbed her neck and glared at Raven for a second, then spoke.
"That group we fought before. They took her."
Everyone gasped.
"And you didn't lift a finger to defend her!" Fang spat. "How dare you-"
"Idiots!" Soul shouted. "If we revealed ourselves, we would have been defeated anyway. This way, you know where she is, and have more people to help you get her back!"
"Oh god..." Jade mumbled. "We have to go back?"
"We have to go back." Ryft confirmed.
