Chapter 22 - Mera Mera no Mi
The breeze of the ocean, the burning sun making his presence and the familiar scent of the ocean slowly creeped into your heart an nostalgic feeling.
It's been a long time since you sailed on the ocean without having a big belly or without having to take care of a one year old. You had to admit, it was a bit refreshing to spend some time on your own, however, you missed the little guy already.
You put a lot of thought into your decision of leaving; you had to do this. This might be your only chance to see Luffy again. Kou, was very fussy the minute you handed him in the care of the Revolutionaries. You still remembered the way he cried when you had to leave. It broke your heart in a million pieces. However, it had to be done.
Although Koala, Sabo and Hack were on a mission and they won't spend so much time with you, you were still ok with the circumstances. It gave you more time to find Luffy. Sabo wasn't so supportive of your little mission, saying that you should've just stayed with Kou at Baltigo. He didn't wanted to believe that Luffy is really going after Doflamingo. He dismissed the alliance as a rumor.
And so, you were currently sitting on the edge of the ship, watching the ocean hit the walls of the deck. Dressrosa wasn't that far from Baltigo, but neither really close. It was a very hot day for the New World.
You wondered how Dressrosa could be like. You've heard rumors about it. Both good and bad. You weren't so sure how an kingdom could be so great if it's being ruled by a very sadistic and psychotic Yonko. No wonder the Revolutionaries were suspicious of that place.
You remembered Doflamingo from the war. He didn't really got into the fight. He observed. He would laugh, trow a few punches here and there but never really attack. He was disturbing in his own creepy way, without a question. No wonder he became a Yonko.
It wasn't until launch time when a newspaper bird flew all the way to the ship and brought the hot-topic news. Hack grabbed the newspaper and started to read the article.
"Well that's quite a title." He said as he looked towards Sabo. "Check this out!" Hack said before trowing the newspaper to him. Sabo's expression read surprise and maybe a little concern. He sat down and began to read the article.
"Well it seems that the rumors about Luffy and that Trafalgar are true. They went wild in Punk Hazard and now they formed an alliance. But they aren't the only ones." Sabo said as he placed the newspaper on the ground so that everyone can see. Koala walked behind Sabo and took a look as well as you.
"All the Supernovas are now in an alliance?" Koala asked quietly. "It seems like it. Strange timing." Hack said as he analyzed the pictures. "All of them are now trying to take down a Yonko. I won't be surprised if half of them won't make it. They're hurrying too much. Especially the Straw Hats." You said before standing up.
"With Luffy, I don't think they have much of a choice." He chuckled. "Joining his crew is like a suicide mission. Everytime they do something they make it to the first page. Being famous within the Supernovas doesn't make you more liked. But I'm sure Luffy knows what he's doing." Sabo finished and stood up as well.
"Either way, we arrived." He said as he pointed behind you. You turned around and saw an island in the distance. There was still some time left until you would actually arrive there but everyone started to get ready. They knew that they couldn't stick together once they arrive on the island.
From a large distance, you couldn't really make an impression of the island. The only thing you could see were the rocks that were surrounding the island. Everyone knew that Dressrosa was one of the those twenty kingdoms that founded the World Government long time ago. The kingdom of love and passion as some may say.
You were excited to see the oh so popular fields filled with all kinds of flowers and the cuisine, since those two were the most talked about in that kingdom. The kingdom of love and passion... It's been a long time since you felt that kind of love. Ever since Ace was gone, you just couldn't let another enter your life. It made your heart break, keeping on thinking, even after he is gone, that you're cheating on him. Your heart couldn't love another in that way.
"So, here's the plan. We'll split into two groups. Me and Koala will go east and you, (Name) and Hack will go north. We gather as much information as we can. After that, we'll decide then where we meet." Sabo explained.
Once the ship finally arrived at the island, the four of you walked together until you reached the town side, after that you split up and went in the directions that were stabilized.
The country seemed interesting enough. You had to admit, you were a little impressed by the culture and the smell of the food. Everything seemed normal until you saw... Walking, talking, alive toys. You and Hack stopped for a moment and looked at one another.
"What the..." You mumbled. You heard about everything else about this country except the fact that it had live toys. People were acting as if nothing seemed strange of the fact that some were even dating a nutcracker. You were a little shocked at what you were seeing and continued to walk.
"Is it just me, or these toys are more human than they seem?" You whispered to Hack who was currently looking at every toy that was passing by. "I have to agree with you. This is just- strange." Hack stopped in the middle of his sentence to find a fitting word for this. "But it wouldn't surprise me if there's more about them than meets the eye. We're in Doflamingo's kingdom after all."
After helping Hack gather a few informations here and there about the kingdom, you kept your eyes wide open for any familiar faces.
The two of you passed a big Colosseum and the noise from inside made the two of very curious. After deciding you should check it out, the two of you got in. Deciding it wasn't a very good idea to stick together here, in case of any marine, the two of you parted once you entered the Colosseum.
Everyone was being loud for some reason. Once you found a free spot, you sat down quietly and watched as everyone went crazy. You looked in your right and saw a toy sitting next you. It began to feel creepy. It didn't matter how many times you saw them around the town, it still creeped you out. After all, you could bet everything they were once humans.
But deciding to test the waters, you leaned towards the toy and spoke up so that he could her you over the loud noise. "Why is everyone so excited about?" You asked. The toy turned towards you. It didn't took long until he answered. "The prize for the winners will be soon announced. I heard it's a very valuable thing." He replied. You raised your brows at that. Interesting.
You waited patiently in your sit. Once the prize is announced, you will leave. It didn't took long after you thought that, that a man surrounded by two women who wore bikinis walked in the arena. Silence fell in the Colosseum as everyone wanted to hear what the guy was about to announce.
"Gentleman, ladies, toys, what you will see today will be one hell of an event!" The man announced and the crowd went wild. "The king has entrusted us with a very extraordinary gift for today's event!" There was a small pause before he continued. "There was a man who died two years ago in the War of the Best, at Marineford." Your breathing stopped as you heard that.
"He was the 2nd division commander of the legendary Whitebeard Pirates and the son of the Pirate King- his name was Ace!" Your eyes widened. No it can't be! The prize can't be- "He could smash thru warships, his power could transform an island into hell! That same power is now, after his death, reproduced into a Devil Fruit!"
You placed your hand on your mouth. This can't be happening! "The logia type, the most powerful devil fruit, Mera Mera no Mi!" You felt yourself getting dizzier as the crowd went wild once again. The announcer lifted the sheet that was covering a box and there it was. Standing proud and tall, the Devil Fruit that you feared to fall into the wrong hands.
You needed to get out of there. You felt like throwing up. This was too much. You came here to see Luffy again, not to see another reminder of Ace's death. But this time, this was proof. This was proof that he died for good that day and now no stupid rumor could convince you otherwise and give you hope. He was dead.
Walking as fast as you could, you didn't even cared when you stepped on someone's foot or bumped into cause by now, you had tears falling out of your eyes. Your heart was beating like crazy and your head was hurting more than it should. When you accidentally bumped into someone, something about it seemed familiar but by the time you could even turn around and see who you bumped into, he was gone.
You continued to walk until you finally exited the Colosseum. There, not even a few minutes after you exited, Hack came out as well and ran to you the minute he saw you. He gave a simple empathetic look and got his Den Den Mushi out of his pocket.
"Tell Sabo about the prize. I'll go join the fight." Hack handed you the snail before running in the line to sign himself up. Sabo immediately picked up the moment you called him. "Did you guys find anything?" Sabo asked. "Sabo, we were at the Colosseum and I think you'll want to come here as well." You said quietly. "What- why?"
"They've got Ace's Devil Fruit."

Believe me, I know what I'm doing. There's a reason why they have Ace's devil fruit :3
And no, he isn't dead.
So I just finished reading the third book from Harry Potter. Moving on to the forth. Snape and Draco become more insufferable with every book, I swear. And I know that I'll end up crying for both of these characters but hey, that still doesn't make me forget what Draco did to Hagrid or what a douche Snape is.
