Chapter 23 - You Were Never Gone
Opps? Doffy isn't a Yonko? My bad XD You see, I didn't watched Dressrosa yet. I'm up to date with the manga but I haven't read Dressrosa cause it's the longest one. I have seen some episodes however. I thought he became a Yonko after the war, but no bitch, you guessed wrong.
Listen to this song I attached :)

You clenched your fist as you walked down the streets, trying to find a place to eat and hide. Sabo instructed you to not do anything stupid and to leave the Colosseum. He thought of this as bait to lure the ones who were close to Ace, and how right he was.
The only thing your heart wanted at this moment was to cry. After all these years, thinking he was still alive somehow, that he managed to escape, were thrown away by a simple Devil Fruit. You just got your answer to the question you asked yourself for years and yet, you weren't happy with it. You felt disappointed that you actually thought that he might be alive.
Once you found a restaurant, you sat down at an empty table and ordered some food. Once it arrived, you couldn't even eat anymore. It was like your appetite was just smashed into the nearest wall and left there. You began to play with your food, eating some after a few minutes or so.
"But Sabo!" You insisted. He sighed and placed his hands on your shoulders. "(Name), this is obviously to lure in Luffy and probably even you if they got the information that you arrived here. Just go. I don't want to lose another family to a pirate."
You looked through the window at the children who were playing around. You missed Kou already. You began to play with your hair a little as boredom made itself present. After paying the bill, you sat up and started to walk around the island.
The streets were pretty empty since everyone was now at the Colosseum. The architecture of this island was very pretty. Why was Doflamingo doing this? The prize was from him, right? Because Ace was the son of the great King of the Pirates, Gol D. Roger, everyone was now after that Devil Fruit. You didn't wanted his Devil Fruit to be eaten by a stranger. This was his will.
As you walked you noticed a strange figure, weirdly familiar, taking the left corner of the street, probably going towards the Colosseum. You furrowed your brows and ran towards the same direction. By the time you turned left, the figure was already gone. You sighed and began to walk back but stopped once you noticed the figure again.
Who was this person? You couldn't recognize it, however it was, since it had a hood that covered its face and body. But something about that person, something about it, screamed that you knew once who it was.
And so you followed the figure until you found yourself face to face with a wall. You sighed. This was just foolish. You followed a shadow and wow, you found a wall. But when you turned around, you were startled when you saw that person standing proud and tall behind you.
"Who are you?" You asked. Your voice was cracking, probably because you tried your best not to cry all day. You took a step forward but the person didn't moved an inch. "Who are you?" You repeated.
You held your breath as the person let his hood down. Your eyes widened as you saw the person in front of you. "Marco?" You asked quietly. Marco nod and ran to hug you. You began to laugh as he hugged tighter. You returned the hug. You were now crying.
Once he let you go, you wimped away some of your tears. "I can't believe it! What are you doing here?" You asked with a huge smile on your face. "I could ask you the same question! We've been looking for you for years." He said. "We thought we lost you too..." You couldn't help but hug him again. "You don't know how much I missed all of you." You said quietly.
Marco suddenly realized something. "Wait, what happened to the baby?" He hesitantly asked. "Kou? He's amazing. I can't wait for you to meet him. He didn't come with me at Dressrosa, but he's somewhere safe." You said with a smile. "I'm glad."
Marco looked into your eyes. He could see the heart break from a mile away. He could tell you stressed so much these days that you forgot to even sleep. "What are you doing here (Name)? On this island that is." He asked. "For Luffy, of course." You replied.
There were a few moments of silence but, Marco grabbed your hand and began to walk in a different direction, dragging you along with him. "Where are we going?" You asked. "You'll see." He replied with a smile.
The two of you walked until you reached a dark alley. You could see someone waiting and you furrowed your brows. You gave Marco a confused look but he didn't replied. He gestured you to go further as he stopped.
You slowly began to walk towards that person. Who could it be? Your heart was beating like crazy. Once that person heard some footsteps, he looked in your direction and saw you coming towards him. Neither of you could see each other, so he probably thought of your presence being threatening.
"Who's there?" He asked. But you stopped completely the moment he opened his mouth. Your heart, you breathing, your everything just stopped. You began to shake. It's can't be. That voice was so familiar.
You hesitantly took a few more steps further. You couldn't stop shaking. "I asked who are you?" He repeated the question. He probably got mad that he didn't got an answer but the moment he used fire to make some light, you almost fainted. The fire was so close to your face and so was the person.
Your eyes widened and so did his. You now felt the tears streaming down your face. "Ace...?" You asked quietly but your voice broke. He didn't said anything else. He, almost aggressively, grabbed your shoulders and then pulled you into a breathtaking hug. Neither of you said anything else. You just held each other close.
You began to sob against his shoulder as he, almost impossibly, held you even closer. His hand went through your hair and then back to your back. He was crying as well. You didn't let go of each other. Your hands went to his neck. "I thought you died. I thought you left me." You said between the sobs.
"I could never." He replied. You placed your head on his shoulder. You breathed in his familiar scent. The one thing you couldn't do was to stop crying. "Am I dreaming?" You asked quietly. He shook his head as he also placed his head on your shoulder for support.
Then, when you finally broke the hug, he leaned in and kissed you. The two of you never kissed like this before. There was so much passion behind this, it was like he was the oxygen you needed so you could breathe. Your hands went through his hair as his went to your cheeks.
Like you were never gone
Picked up where we left off
Like you were never gone
You were always coming home
Yeah, you were always close
Like you were never gone
