Potc: Mine. (Part 3)
"Mum, what are we gonna do?" Nara asked in a quiet whisper. It was obvious by her tone that she was afraid, even though her actions did not show it.
"I, I don't know." Cora whispered softly back, running a hand stressfully through her long, dark hair. "In situations like this, people, people like us don't usually get out"....
Her daughter gave a slow nod, hanging her head. "Why do they hate us just because our skin is different?" She said sadly. "We're the same, just like they are"...
"Because they are afraid of things that are not like themselves." Coralie explained in response, glancing down at the floor . "Wether or not that'll change, who knows... but I like to think that there will be a day where we all will be free. Just as white folk are, an' seen as equals too."
"That's a thing worth hoping for." Nara replied softly with a slight smile. Looking back up at her mother. "But sadly, I do not think it will happen in our lifetime. Though if our children's children will be free. It'll be worth it."
Cora gave a nod as she finished her sentence. "Maybe so, but yes. Like you said, it'll be worth it an' the wait."
"What'll be worth the wait?" A familiar and welcomed voice spoke warm and friendly. Gibbs' head poking out from around the corner. Making them both sigh in happy relief .
"Gibbs!" Nara exclaimed, rushing over to hug him. Much to the man's surprise. Making him chuckle as he patted her back.
"Brought some backup, seeing how the plan failed an' all. Figured ye might need some help."
Cora nodded eagerly as another familiar face showed up around the corner. Revealing it to be Teague, Jack's father. And her father in law.
"Any of ye hurt?" Edward asked as he looked over them both out of concern.
The two of them shook their head. "Jus' a few cuts an' bruises. Nothin' major." She replied.
Muffled shouting and swearing could be heard from the top of the stairs then. Making them all turn.
"Best get goin'." Joshamee suggested, heading up that way as the three of them followed suit behind. With Teague in the back, and the two women in the middle. Weapons drawn from whoever had them.
They soon reached the door and the old Captain paused. Motioning for the rest to keep going.
"Unsolved business." He stated simply when they gave him a questioning look.
Not wanting to argue or get mix up in it themselves, they continued on. Walking a mile or two till they reached an old cottage, going inside.
They were finally home, and free.

Jack awoke with a soft groan to a gentle kiss being planted on his forehead. The softness and shape of those lips instantly recognizable to him. His wife, Cora.
"Yer back." He said groggily in relief, blinking his eyes a couple of times to adjust them to the light in the room. And to find her hand.
She gave him a smile in response, nodding as her hand gripped tightly but lovingly onto his. "Thanks to Nara, Gibbs, an' your father. Yes."
"Ye know, no one can take you away from me." He told her softly, his gaze gentle as he looked up at her. "No matter where you are I'll always come back to you and find you. Yer mine love, an' no one in the world can change that. Not even if they are higher up an' of a different colored skin."
"Not even death?" Cora asked quietly, eyes focused lovingly on him.
"Not even death ." He promised as he shook his head, leaning slowly up to give her a kiss which she she more than willingly returned.
They broke it after what seemed like a long moment, and she climbed into bed besides him. Resting her head on his shoulder.
"I love you." She said softly, meaning every word.
"I love ye too." He replied, and he meant it. She was his, nothing in the world would ever change that.
Not even a promised shipment of rum.
