Chapter 1: Isekai is exhausting
As people often say, there have been many instances of isekai this year, and it seems that this trend has become popular worldwide.
All sorts of people have been transported into various genres of stories, movies, and dramatic situations. But all she wanted was to enjoy a peaceful and happy life, without becoming the protagonist of any story, simply being an ordinary character watching the main characters perform.
But does anyone know why she ended up being transported into the elegant and refined world of geniuses in Clamp's twisted universe?
Kanon looked up at the clear blue sky, with a few fluffy white clouds drifting by, and let out a sigh. At least she was fortunate enough not to be transported into Sakura's magical world or the apocalyptic X1999. In those stories, she would either be deceived by the magical cards or toyed with by Earth Dragons and Sky Dragons until her head was separated from her body.
But why was someone as ordinary as her standing within the grounds of Clamp School? This morning, when she woke up on "her" bed after isekai, "her" mother dragged her downstairs, stuffed her with a hearty breakfast, handed her a new school uniform, and said with a bewildered expression on her face:
"Congratulations, my talented daughter, on being accepted into Clamp School!"
Ignoring the daughter's dumbfounded attitude, her mother helped her put on the uniform, packed her bag with books and a carefully wrapped lunch, and pushed her out the door. Before she left, her mother reminded her:
"The map is in the front pocket of your bag, my dear. Don't get lost!"
And she got lost!
After flipping through the map back and forth, all she saw in front of her was a single thing—a star inside a circle, which was the symbol of Clamp School. So, she was already inside it, but now what? How was she supposed to know where to go from here?
While struggling to decipher her mother's messy handwriting and scribbles, she finally gave up and looked around to see if anyone could ask for directions.
Luckily, a student in a Clamp School uniform was hurrying down the street, so she rushed over and grabbed his hand as if she had found a savior:
"Um, excuse me..."
The boy was taken aback, jumped back, and then saw a girl around his age, also wearing their school uniform, which calmed him down and he asked:
"What... what's the matter?"
"Excuse me, how do I get to Clamp School? I'm a new student, so I don't know the way."
Understanding why she was blocking his path, the boy chuckled and looked at the map in her hand before saying:
"Ha ha, that thing is utterly useless, isn't it? My first day was just like yours. So, which department are you in? Because, actually, we are already inside the academy, so I can only give directions if I know which department you're in."
Kanon was bewildered because she didn't even know who she was or what she was studying in this twisted genius academy. But she quickly pulled out her student ID card from her bag and handed it to the boy.
"Hanazaki Kanon! Department of Literature, Social Studies, Modern Literature? Class 1Z?"
After hearing him read her name and department, she herself was surprised. "She" was that talented? Just by hearing about Suoh, one of three protagonists of Clamp School Detectives anime, she knew that to be an exemplary student in the Traditional Literature department, one's intelligence and knowledge had to be profound. And to be in class Z, wasn't that Nokoru's level? Kanon suddenly felt a tremor in her heart. Could someone as ordinary as her survive in this world of those super geniuses? Because as far as she remembered from that anime, they never mentioned any other school or place outside of Clamp School. She was surely screwed up.
The boy saw her standing there pale-faced, he also became panicked. Thinking that something was wrong with her, he immediately grabbed her hand and ran straight to the school infirmary.
"Don't worry, you'll be fine! The doctor at the infirmary is really good, they can cure any illness."
As he dragged her along, he reassured her in such a way that almost made her choke on her own saliva. Did he need to exaggerate like that? Can they really cure any illness?
After pressing her to sit on the infirmary bed, the boy hurriedly filled out the registration form for her while they waited for the doctor to come.
"So, how are you? Do you feel uncomfortable anywhere?"
The gentle voice of the doctor echoed as she walked from her private room to the examination table next to Kanon's bed. She was a beautiful woman with long, smooth blue hair reaching to her waist, and she wore a headband that made her feminine look even more special.
"I'm fine, just feeling a bit... dizzy, probably because I ate too much this morning."
"Alright, I'll check it out. If everything is fine, you can rest for a while and then go back to class."
After a thorough physical examination from head to toe, Kanon sat quietly on the hospital bed. The boy had completed all the procedures for her and now returned with a smile.
"You're fine, that's good. I didn't introduce myself earlier, my name is Takamura Kyou! I'm in Class 1A, the Engineering Department."
"Takamura?"
She asked in surprise, isn't that surname quite familiar?
"Oh, my family name is quite well-known. I also have a cousin who studies in this school. He's extremely talented, and I really admire him."
That must be Suoh. She carefully looked at the enthusiastic boy boasting about his cousin, he looked very cute with his short brown hair, tan skin, and lively demeanor, resembling the image of Akira in her imagination. But she wondered, if she's in Class 1, what class are the main characters in now?
After making sure that she was completely healthy, Kyou finally breathed a sigh of relief. He even escorted her to the door of the administrative office before returning to his own class. Kanon sincerely thanked him and took a deep breath before opening the door and stepping inside.
"Excuse me, may I ask for the teacher in charge of Class 1Z, Modern Literature?"
"That would be me, you must be Hanazaki-san?"
A young teacher with short reddish-brown hair stood up and smiled at her.
"I'm Yamada Kino, I'll be in charge of your class! Come with me to complete the procedures."
After that, Ms Yamada, her homeroom teacher personally led her into the classroom. Holding her timetable in hand, Kanon realized that her first period was Mathematics. Ms Yamada led her to the class, introduced her to Professor Ukisaki, the math teacher, and then left after wishing her good luck.
The classroom had about 30 students, all with friendly and bright faces, looking at her with smiles and applauding as she finished her introduction. Indeed, the world in Clamp School was extremely friendly, and everyone was kind-hearted. Each desk had a computer specifically assigned to each student.
The first math class wasn't too bad, after all, they were only first-grade students, so basic math wasn't a problem. In addition, Professor Ukisaki introduced some tricky riddles to deceive the students. He presented simple reasoning methods to solve them, making the students more interested in learning math. Kanon silently nodded in approval, without a doubt, Clamp School produced nothing but geniuses. With such excellent teachers, studying wouldn't become difficult anymore.
During the break time, many boys and girls came to her desk to introduce themselves and ask questions.
"Hello! Nice to meet you!"
"I'm... Where did you transfer from? Where did you study before?"
She answered their questions simply and they didn't doubt her at all. They even encouraged and sympathized with her for having to transfer at this time of the year and the difficulties she might face in studying.
"I am Sanada Zansa, sitting next to you. If you need any help, just let me know!"
A cute little girl with short, slightly curly dark blonde hair and beautiful sparkling purple eyes smiled sweetly at Kanon, instantly making her feel like she was Tomoyo and receiving the warm friendship of Sakura on their first meeting.
"Thank you, Sanada-san!"
"Just call me Zansa, can I call you Kanon?"
"Of course!"
In truth, speaking politely like an adult with children like this was not easy, but the feeling of respect and being respected from a young age was not bad at all.
