"If the whole world was watching I would still dance with you."

Alison's P.O.V

Alison entered the ball room in a beautiful silver dress.

She was alive and well and that's all she could ask for right now...but their mission wasn't over.

The coffin they had opened had Klaus's mother in it and apparently she doesn't want to kill her family but reunite them again which of course was a problem for them.

However though the family was hosting a ball and Esther had invited Elena to come meet her privately. Considering the fact that Elena's bloodline was the one that made them all vampires in the first place, everyone was hoping that Esther was still on board to try and kill Klaus.

They would have to wait for Elena's meeting to finish with Esther and in the mean time everyone was to act normal and engage with the original family like they didn't hate their guts.

As Alison was walking around Stefan walked up to her.

Stefan: "Alison, you look beautiful."

Alison: "Stefan, don't you have bodies to suck the blood out of?"

Stefan: (giggling) "you're definitely Caroline's daughter."

Alison's face fell at this comment, she wasn't expecting that reply but then again Stefan didn't have his humanity, it was like he didn't have a soul.

Stefan: "would you like to dance Ali?"

Alison: "don't call me that."

Stefan: "alright, would you like to dance ALISON?"

Alison after a slight hesitation decided to say yes, it wasn't like she had anything else to do and if she was being honest she kind of felt Stefan.

His brother and girlfriend...sorry ex girlfriend were in love with each other and it all happened because Damon got bit by a werewolf and Klaus's blood was the only thing in the world that could cure a bite, and the only way Klaus would agree to give Damon the blood was if Stefan went with him.

He was just trying to save his brother and in return his brother betrayed him...that must really suck, so Alison felt kind of bad for him.

Stefan extended his hand to Alison and accepting it they both walked onto the dance floor and started dancing.

Alison: "so tell me Stefan, what does not having a soul feel like?"

Stefan: "it's pretty awesome, I'm not burdened by things like guilt or remorse....and trust me I used to care...a lot."

Alison: "I guess you're brother and girlfriend will do that to you."

Stefan went a silent at this, Alison could see that it bothered him, a lot.

She started scanning the room and saw Elena come down the stairs, the meeting with Esther was over. She also spotted dean and he gave her a signal to follow them.

She told Stefan and they both walked into the backyard where Elena explained what happened.

Esther didn't just want to kill Klaus, she wanted to kill all her kids because she thought of them as abominations.

Since Elena's blood was the blood that had made them into vampires, Esther used it to bind all her children together. Which basically meant that what happened to one of them, happened to all of them. So if they killed one of the siblings the rest would automatically die.

All they had to do to complete the ritual was make sure all of them took a drop of Elena's blood and Esther had mixed the blood into the champagne, and now Esther was going to give a toast.

After everyone had understood they all went inside for the toast, but before they entered Dean pulled Alison aside.

Dean: "what the hell are you doing with that Stefan guy?"

Alison: "relax Dean, I just danced with the guy because he felt bad for him."

Dean: "bad for him? I don't need to explain to you why he's bad news do I?!"

Alison: "what no,  no I know what I'm doing I promise."

Dean took a deep breath in and then basically stared into Alison's soul through her eyes and said;

Dean: "I hope so Alison, otherwise I'm gonna have to take care of it and trust me that's not gonna end well."

  Caroline's P.O.V

Caroline re-entered the ball room with a brave face on, she saw that Dean and Alison stayed behind but she decided to keep moving because she knew what it was about and she thought it would be better for Dean to handle it as she and Alison already weren't on good terms.

Everyone gathered around for the toast and after Esther was done speaking everyone took a sip of their drink, including the mikaelson siblings.

Now they just had to kill them all.

As Caroline was taking her drink she spotted Klaus, and even though every fiber of her being was telling her to stay away from him she couldn't help but walk up to him.

For some weird messed up reason she understood Klaus. Maybe it was because she knew what it was like to be hated by your own family, or maybe it was because she knew what it was like to be utterly alone, but there was just something about him that made her feel bad for being part of the reason he dies.

Even the dress she was wearing tonight was given to her by Klaus, as a token of his appreciation as he put it so she thought she would just say thank you.

Klaus: "hello love."

Caroline: "I just wanted to say thank you for the dress."

Klaus: "oh it's not problem, it's from the mikaleson archives."

Klaus gave her a small smile which made Caroline sink, she had felt this way before with Dean, but she knew how that ended. So Caroline had to toughen up because she didn't need another crappy ending.

Caroline: "well I don't need your charity."

Klaus: "it's not charity love, it's a gift."

Caroline: "I don't need those either, not from you."

Klaus have a another chuckle.

Klaus: "I will try and remember that love, would you like to dance."

Caroline agreed with some hesitation. They both entered the dance floor and it was like they owned them, Caroline couldn't help but feel like the world had stopped and everyone was staring at the two of them.

Then she realized it wasn't everyone, it was just Dean. She spotted him at the bar like always with a drink in hand and a salty look on his face. He clearly didn't appreciate Caroline dancing with the enemy.

Dean looking at her like that made Caroline shrink, she didn't like it, it was similar to the look he had on his face the night he tried to kill her.

Klaus: "what's wrong love?"

Caroline: "nothing."

Klaus: "are you sure about that ?"

Caroline: "very."

She had this whole conversation with Klaus while still staring at Dean and then she saw Dean start to walk out of the door.

Caroline: "I have to go."

Caroline left Klaus all alone on the dance floor with that statement and walked out the door following Dean.

Dean's P.O.V

Dean went into the house, he had to get out of that ball room, so he did what he always did when he needed to cool off, he drove his baby and blasted rock music, but this time it didn't help.

He felt this rage boil up inside of him. He was trying hard to forgive Caroline, really hard, he was trying to trust her again but she wasn't making it easy.

This was already hard for Dean because of the way he was raised by John. He was raised to hate things like Caroline, but he was trying because despite what he told the world he still loved her.

But she was dancing with the devil. Literally.

How could she be so stupid, how could she be so damn selfish.

Dean swiped everything off the table that was there, he even threw the tv down from its stand and he took a chair and bashed it into the mirror that was in front of him to try and calm his rage.

Dean hung his head down in his hands and when he looked back up, he saw in the cracked mirror that a blonde figure appeared behind him and he turned around.

Dean: "what are you doing here Caroline?"

Caroline: "I saw you at the ball, I was worried."

Dean: "oh well good to know you still care."

Caroline: "I always cared Dean."

Dean: "ya? Then why were you dancing with the person we are trying to kill?"

Caroline: "because i can and I wanted to Dean."

Dean felt his face drop and could tell Caroline could clearly see it too but it had no effect on her.

Dean: "why care...why?"

Caroline: "why what?"

Dean: "why do you hate me?" He said quietly.

After this statement Caroline couldn't hold it in anymore, she had suppressed her feelings for way to long and it was finally time to let them out.

Caroline: "well....I hate you so much that when I see you I want to scream but scream like why are you not the person I laugh with....why are you not the person I face time with every night....why are you not the person who holds me when I'm sad...I want you to hug me so I can feel protected and feel like all my problems are solved....I hate that when I see you, you don't bother to even look at me....I hate you so much that I hate looking at you because if I look at you I will cry myself to sleep wondering why you aren't the person I hold hands with everyday.....I hate that you don't love me....because I love you."

After a long pause Dean decided to speak up.

Dean: "you think I don't love you? I love you Caroline, I never stopped loving you, I love the way you smile more than words could ever say, I love the way you say my name. I love you more than you could ever imagine, and I've tried but I can never let you go. And I miss the way you hold my hand. Do you that your hair in my fingers was the best feeling in the world? Or the way you pulled me close, was the safest place I know. Do you know that you break my heart every night because you aren't mine, because you were the only that that felt right when everything else was wrong. Do you know that I miss everything about you? Do you know you're all I think about? Because if you knew these things, you wouldn't question whether I loved you or not."

There was a long silence after Dean said these words, it took every inch of strength Dean had in him to say these things out loud. He wasn't someone who talked about his feelings or shared his emotions, he always kept a straight face, even in the worst moments. He never cried in front of people, he did all alone when no one was watching, and Caroline knew these things. She could see the kind of power it took for Dean to admit these feelings.

After a little while Caroline slowly approached Dean as if she was trying not to scare him.

And she kissed him.

No one's P.O.V
"Everyone wants to fall in love. But more people are in love with the theory of love. If you're looking in from the outside, it looks beautiful. On the inside, it's scary because it can take over your life. It's the strongest emotion but also the darkest. It can put you on a high for days, but it can wrap an anchor around your feet and drown you in less than a minute."
