39-Dawning
Harry's POV
When Harry woke up that morning and looked at Louis' sleeping form, curled up beside his body, he knew.
He didn't know what had changed in the past few days but one thing was certain in his mind.
One look at Louis' face, his soft hair ruffled messily all over the place, his pink lips slightly parted as he silently snored, gentle wisps of air leaving his mouth, eyelashes long and beautiful and he knew.
He was in love with Louis.
How? Isn't this just something that happened in movies and books? Wasn't a real relationship about liking each other at first, then falling in love eventually?
And then it struck him.
Unknowingly, inevitably, he had been falling in love with Louis slowly throughout the course of the five months that they had spent together and his stupid brain had only just realised what his heart had already known all this while.
Love.
He was in love.
He was in love with Louis.
Gently he wiggled his hand from under Louis' body and ran it through his hair.
Soft. It was so soft. He couldn't get enough of it. He brushed his fingers along Louis' cheekbones, smiling appreciatively when Louis leaned in to his touch, a small smile breaking free on his face even in his semi conscious, alseep state.

The next few days were hard. Being in love sucked.
While before, Harry used to spend roughly sixty percent of his time thinking about Louis, it was now seemingly getting close to nearly a hundred percent.
When he wasnt spending his time thinking of how much he wanted to kiss Louis, tug on his lips until they were both breathless, he would be thinking of absolutely cheesy, romantic relationship moments like pressing a chaste kiss to Louis lips while he handed him his cup of coffee, making breakfast for the two of them everyday, going for long walks along the beach with their fingers entwined, happy and carefree.
Louis wasn’t making things easier either. Every night as they watched television together, Louis would inch closer and closer until he was lying pretty much on top of Harry. Harry would pretend to groan and complain, praying fervently that it masked the way his heart began beating faster by the second. Later, when they would both be in bed and Louis’ hands would snake around Harry, pulling him closer towards his chest until there was absolutely nothing separating the two of them, Harry hoped Louis couldn’t see the effect it had on him.
He couldn’t get rid of these feelings no matter how hard he tried and he hated how, just when he had completely managed to lose himself in the moment with Louis, the ugly reality would hit him, leaving him hurting and unable to breathe.
Louis was straight.
With every passing day, harry seemed to be falling only deeper and deeper in love with Louis but what good was that going to do either of them? It would forever remain unrequited.
There were times when he thought he should just say it, fuck the consequences, there were times when he felt like if he didn’t tell him how much he loved him with every fibre of his being, if he didn’t pull him in into a kiss that left them both
wanting more, he would explode, unable to contain all these feelings in him much longer.
But then the more calm, practical part of his brain would whirl into action. He couldn’t risk losing what he had with Louis. Their friendship was one of the most beautiful things in his life and was something he had come to cherish with all his heart. The way they were both so open with another, so free and comfortable, he couldn’t put that all at stake just because his stupid heart had decided to feel a certain way.
He needed to do something, anything to get rid of these feelings. At the moment, it seemed hard, impossible even but he'd have to try nevertheless.
Because what was the point of loving Louis when he knew he'd never love him back?

Louis' POV
Louis had been giving himself a little pep talk all morning.
You can do this.
Today was the day. The day he would tell Harry that he was gay.
It's not going to be that hard.
It had been roughly a week since he had spent that little evening doing his 'research' and he felt like it was enough time to have kept it away from Harry.
Harry had already left for work and Louis had an entire day to formulate the best way to tell him before they met again that evening.
He was going to do it.
