Chapter16:Secret Mission

ChapterSixteen-Secret Mission

November 8th, 2007

It was a normal November day at Logan International Airport in Boston. Those arriving and deporting looked like normal people...except for a strange group of people. Oh, you can tell they were young men and women, but their wore hats and sunglasses. You wouldn't know how long, short, or what colour their hair were.

When these people were picking up their tickets, they showed their passports. They were going to Toronto, Canada. Once they showed their passports, airport security immediately knew who they were, but they said nothing.

As they waited to aboard the plane, they distanced themselves from each other. They never said a word to anyone or to each other. They communicated by texting. For one of them, her cell-phone kept ringing. She went to the bathroom to answer it. She made sure the place was empty.

She said to the caller rudely, "Now's not the time! I'll call you back later! So stop f*cking calling me! If you wanna talk to me, text me!"

She hung up abruptly, and then she left the bathroom. Once she was out, the hat-and-sunglasses-wearing people were apparently staring at her. She shrugged her shoulders, and sat down.

Then it was time to board the plane. During the flight to Toronto, the strange people were silent. When they arrived, they were silent. They were silent as they arrived to their hotel. One of them went inside, and checked in. He spoke, but quietly.

There were two hotel rooms booked. One was for the guys, and the other was for the girls. As they entered their rooms. They took off their hats and sunglasses. They breathed a sigh of relief.

These people were UTurn. A few weeks earlier, they filmed their TV Christmas special for PBS. It was a tie-in to their somewhat successful web series, Breaking Out of High School. The special was based on a third grade holiday play that some of the members were in. The original concept was created by Andrew, and he himself decided to update it.

An addition to that, UTurn had wrapped up recording their official songs and their secret songs. As soon as they were finished recording their secret songs, they selected six songs to be on their mixtape CD. They titled it Rebellion, which was named after a song they wrote and recorded. This mixtape was to be sold at the nightclubs they would be performing in.

Their first stop was Toronto. They were to perform at a popular, yet posh, nightclub under a pseudonym, 8th Anthem. They had to do this so their manager, marketing team, and PR team wouldn't track them down. After '8th Anthem' performs at Toronto, they go Montreal under a different. They will do this in all locations.

Once the members settled down, Amanda went outside the girls' room to call back Stan. Stan was the one who kept calling her. She argued with him.

At the same time, the guys were watching TV in their room. They heard Amanda talking really loud in the hallway. Andrew got up from the floor, and looked through the peephole. He saw looking stressed out.

Justin and Trevor noticed. Justin asked, "Why are you spying on Amanda?"

Andrew's face grew red, so he replied sharply, "I just care about her, that's all. Is that a problem?"

Trevor said, "I think you're jealous. Are you in love with someone?"

Andrew turned to face Trevor as he replied, "I'm not in love with Amanda."

 "I didn't say Amanda."

Then Andrew said sarcastically, "Oh yeah, I'm in love with that jerk Stan."

 "Look, I'm just saying..."

"Even if I did swing that way, I wouldn't make myself miserable by putting up with him."

Justin teased, "So we already know you're straight, so you fancy Amanda."

Andrew grows more irritable as he hastily said, "Look, I said I care about Amanda! Why do you guys have to overanalyze things?"

"Andrew, chill! You look like you're about to explode."

With that, Andrew snapped, "What do you want me to say? That I'm in love in with her? Well, maybe I am!"

Then Justin and Trevor stared at Andrew in shock. Justin asked, "You're in love with Amanda?"

"Yes, I mean no, I mean I don't know!" Andrew stammered.

Trevor asked, "You know you're with Alyson, right?"

Andrew sighed heavily as he replied, "Yes, I know. Look, I love Alyson very much, but I feel something for Amanda. I'm not sure what it is that I'm feeling."

With that, Justin and Trevor stopped pressing Andrew while he sat on one of the two beds, confused.

It's the next night, and UTurn (aka 8th Anthem) were backstage in a nightclub they were to perform. They wore very slick and sexy black and red costumes. They actually looked like pop-rock royalty instead of a teen band with an identity crisis.

As they were getting ready, Andrew approached Amanda as he saw her getting off her phone. "Was that Stan again?"

Amanda sighed heavily as she replied, "Yeah. It's like his homework is to bother to me. Honestly, I feel like telling him the truth about what I'm doing."

Andrew said, "You know no one can know we're doing this secret nightclub tour. We're practically risking a chance of getting dropped from both our label and our manager. Besides, Stan is a jerk. He treats us like shit, including you. You deserve better than that."

Then Andrew stared into Amanda's eyes. He wanted to kiss her to see if he really had feelings for her, but he didn't. The members were right there, and he knew there would be drama. So he gave her a weak smile, and walked away.

Then it was time to go on stage. "8th Anthem" performed the songs from their mixtape. They didn't speak much, but they sang live and danced full-on (Andrew was the choreographer). During one of the songs, Hostage, the two couples, Bailstin and Andyson, kissed! In front of the audience!

Most of the audience knew that "8th Anthem" was actually UTurn, but they liked the new look and sound. They were shocked to see the Bailstin and Andyson kiss.

After it was over, the members sold a limited amount of their mixtape CDs. Then they left the nightclub as soon as they gathered their things.

It's a few weeks later, and UTurn's secret nightclub performances are all over YouTube. So far, they've used different aliases while performing in different cities: Montreal (E.I.G.H.T.), Newark (Rebelz), first nightclub in NYC (NRUTU (UTurn spelled backwards)), and second nightclub in NYC (PHOB (Pittsburgh, Hartford, Oxford, and Boston)). The next stop for "MAJLABST (Mandy, Andrew, Justin, Libby, Alyson, Bailey, Stacie, and Trevor)" was Hartford.

The hottest subject talked about was the Bailstin and Andyson lip-lock. The fans debated if the two couples were actually real, while others determined that the couples were real. Nonetheless, this was a ship dream come true...for most fans.

In the meantime, Stan was arriving to his screenwriting class in Boston College. As he sat down, he saw a couple of girls hovering over an iPhone. He also overheard their conversation.

Girl #1 said, "I can't believe that Andrew and Aly are a couple. I thought Andrew was single."

Girl #2 spoke up, "Well, he wasn't exactly single. I remember he said he had a girlfriend, but he never said he was dating Aly."

Girl #3 scoffed, "Please, I thought he was going gay since he's practically half-naked in Russia."

Girl #2 said, "Just because a guy is half-naked doesn't mean he's gay. Besides, in those music videos, he looks like he's about have sex with Aly."

Girl #1 said in disgusted voice, "OMG, don't say that!"

Girl #2 told her rudely, "Get over yourself, Emma! It's not like you're gonna marry Andrew!"

Stan decided to walk up to the girls. He asked them, "What are you girls watching on that iPhone?"

Girl #2 replied, "We're watching UTurn's performances on YouTube and talking about Andrew. Why?"

"They have many performances. What's this one different than the other ones?"

Girl #1, Emma, looked offended, "OMG, you don't know? Are you, like, living under a rock? It's their performances at different nightclubs! And OMG, Andrew looks hotter than ever!"

With that, Stan started burning with anger. So that's why Amanda has been blowing me off! he thought. He then said to the girls in a stiff voice, "Andrew's not that great of a guy. He was a jerk in all of the grades he was in, and he still is to this day."

Then Stan went back to his seat as the three Andrew-fan-girls gave him dirty looks.

Later that night, Stan was in his dorm room. He decided to take a break from studying by watching the recent UTurn videos. He saw the performances, and burned with anger as he watched Amanda singing and dancing live.

He never liked UTurn, let alone Andrew. He never liked Andrew was because he grew up with him. He was one of Andrew's victims in all of the grades. When Andrew became a pop singer, Stan hated him more. He would see Andrew portray himself as this sweet heartthrob, but Stan would become disgusted. Whenever his bullying past would get mentioned, Stan hoped to hear what 'squeaky-clean' Andrew would say. Instead, the information would be deleted, and Andrew would neither confirm or denying anything.

As for the other members, he didn't like them because they, along with Andrew, were popular. It didn't matter if they were mean or nice, they had the looks, brains, athleticism, and money. Stan? He was just the 'theatre tech guy.'

He had hoped Amanda would be different, but she dated Andrew and became a popstar. To Stan, Amanda was just like the other girls: Pretty, blonde, and dated Andrew. He tried to see she was different by dating her, but she was always 'busy.' Then he came up with an idea as he watched her sing and dance in video.
