「 three ; headache。 」━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
"GODDAMN HEADACHE," jaemin mutters under his breath as he holds his aching head. not only did this headache make his day worse, but also because he had received the results of the test he took in chemistry (his last class); and surprise, surprise he failed.
he got a whopping 9 out of 30 items. how will he be able to tell this to his parents? this was horrible news! he didn't even remember taking a test yesterday let alone the discussion about this topic.
jaemin hates to admit it, but he noticed he has been having memory gaps or loss for the past two weeks— and he wasn't happy about it. he remembers entering and exiting chemistry class but everything that happened inside the room remained a mystery.
he remembered fragments of memories that happened inside like him dozing off but the main point that happened like discussions and stuff; he can't seem to remember.
jaemin figured that it's probably because of his short attention span that's why he couldn't remember anything that happened. he thought he dozed off and just didn't remember because he just woke up.
starting this day onwards, jaemin has committed to pay close attention to his boring and uninteresting chemistry class. despite it being so boring, he has to listen no matter what.
jaemin entered the classroom and went straight for his desk. jaemin brought out his supplies needed and turned to the board to wait for the professor. once the professor steps in, jaemin already feels drowsy.
jaemin sneakily pulls out his espresso from his bag and takes sips from it to stay awake. he knew he would feel drowsy eventually, and fighting it to stay awake won't work. hence why, he brought an espresso during their break which thankfully, works. he wasn't that drowsy anymore.
jaemin knew he would be in big trouble if the professor caught him sneaking drinks that are outside the campus, let alone drinking during his class. jaemin couldn't comprehend why his professor didn't want them to drink, but that won't stop jaemin from his espresso.
"actually, you should thank the espresso." jaemin mumbles. "if i didn't have this, i wouldn't be listening to you and your boring ass voice."
jaemin glanced at his notebook and cracked a smile. he felt so proud that he actually took notes at the most boring class in his world. chemistry. just by the word itself, jaemin was already uninterested.
jaemin shot a look at his watch. "15 minutes to go and i'm outta here." jaemin beams before jaemin noticed a strange outline of a drawing on the back of the page.
curious, jaemin flips to that page and sees a drawing of a girl. his brows were furrowed when he tried to remember when he drew this and who he drew. not wanting to worsen the pain of his headache, he discarded the questions and lifted his head up.
instead of seeing his professor, jaemin saw a girl who shined brighter than the sun; facing towards him. jaemin screams from terror and even leaned back; causing his chair to create a screeching sound. jaemin held his chest before he saw everyone's eyes on him.
"mr. na, is there something wrong?" jaemin heard the professor ask. jaemin glanced at everyone and noticed that they weren't looking at the girl who was shining so brightly. it was as if the girl was oblivious to everyone. "we're just discussing what would happen if chemicals were mixed wrong. i don't think it's that scary."
jaemin shook his head as his gaze pierced through the girl who gave him a heart attack. "no sir, i'm fine... sorry." jaemin gave the professor an apologetic bow before they carried on with the discussion.
once all of the eyes were off him, jaemin fixed his seat and returned it to its original position before he could glare at the girl in front of him. jaemin points at the girl in front of him as his hand shakes from the adrenaline that rushed into him.
"y-you weren't there before," jaemin stutters.
she simply raised a brow at him. "i've been here before you." jaemin squints his eyes at her to indirectly say 'what the hell are you talking about?'. "look,"—she shakes her hand dismissively— "can i borrow a pen?"
jaemin scowls at her. "you startled me! do you think i would lend you my pen after that?" before jaemin could state more reason on why he wouldn't lend her a pen, the bell ring and class was dismissed.
jaemin lets out a groan as his hands make their way to his face. "oh my gosh, i was so close to completing my notes-- the class!" jaemin continues to utter incoherent words as the girl simply stares at him.
"do you know my name?" asked the girl.
irked, jaemin slowly lifts his head up from his palms to shoot her a questioning look. "of course i do, you're 'shining girl who startled me by teleporting in front of me.'" jaemin said bitterly.
"oh wait no— let me correct that." jaemin clasped his hands together and leaned forward from his seat. noticing that the shining things that covered her were fireflies. "you're 'blinding firefly girl who teleported in front of me and scared the crap out of me."
jaemin rolled his eyes before he collected his possessions from his desk and threw them in his bag. firefly girl's ears perked up from jaemin's word: "firefly."
slamming her hands on his desk, jaemin was once again startled. "OH MY GOD, STOP." jaemin breathed out as he held his chest, checking if his heart was still beating. "you're going to kill me— i swear to god."
glossing over his remarks, now that she gained his attention, she asks, "what do you mean firefly?"
jaemin quirked up his brow before he scoffs. "it's all over you. how can you or i not notice?"
her jaw falls open before her hand travelled up to cover her mouth. tears pricking her eyes, she queries, "do you know my name?"
"no." jaemin said plainly. "how many times do i have to come up with a fake name?"
firefly girl turns to her bag and pulls out a sharpie. after taking of the cap, she grabs jaemin's arm and brings it closer to her. jaemin tried to stop her, but she was freakishly strong. she begins to write her name on his arm and there it was; "화영", was now written on his arm.
"hwayoung..?" jaemin looks up at her and she nods with a small smile plastered on her face.
"i have to show you something," hwayoung begins to rummage through her bag but jaemin stops her.
"i-i have to go." jaemin pointed out the window and showed the skies that were painted in darkness. "my parents are going to kill me if i exceed my curfew."
jaemin swung his bag over his shoulder and stood up. "jaemin, wait." hwayoung grabbed jaemin's arm and faced him to her. his brows were furrowed at the mention of his name. "whatever you do, do not erase that."
hwayoung points at the writing of her name, and the only thing jaemin could do was nod and utter a "i won't," for assurance.
hwayoung let's jaemin go and before she knew it, jaemin was out of the classroom. once jaemin stepped foot out of the room, everything that happened at the end of the class, and his conversation with hwayoung was wiped away from his memories.
jaemin stared at the night sky that was covered with stars after exiting the building. jaemin hits himself with his palm. "damn it i overslept." he continues to inflict pain on himself and after he does, he notices a writing on his arm.
jaemin holds his arm out and stare at the writing with confusion written all over his face.
"who the hell is hwayoung?"
