Chapter Three - It Isn't Statue of Liberty Flying Inside The RH, Bummer
Prince, Natalie and Jared finally showed up after a couple of minutes. Natalie sat beside me while Jared and Prince sat on the back, next to the girls from another school, Amber, Trina and Kim.
I already knew what they were up to. Oh, boys.
All three of our friends still looked sleepy. While Cheska was having her beauty sleep, and I was dreaming about Zac Efron, the three of them watched Harry Potter on Prince's laptop. They couldn't sleep, they said, so they took the opportunity to rewatch the series. With the sleepy look on their faces, I guess they regretted it.
"You look like Sandy Man played with you, and he wasn't happy when he did it." I told Natalie. Even though her hair was wet and combed, her eyes looked like they hadn't rested for a week. She tried hiding them with some make-up, and she rarely wears make-up, but the bags were still very visible. "The activities will start today, you know. Make sure you don't fall asleep in the middle of it."
She yawned. "Of course I won't fall asleep. Make sure you don't embarrass yourself in the middle of it. I'm not the one who needs worrying."
"Of course I'll be fine," I rolled my eyes, but I was a bit nervous. I wasn't really good in outdoor activities. Usually I either trip and fall on the mud, run into a tree while running, or just get swarmed by a group of bees. I was definitely not the outdoor type of person.
Prince and Jared didn't look any better than Natalie. They all looked like zombies. Unattractive ones. Worse than the ones on The Walking Dead.
"Aren't you guys excited?" Cheska then asked the four of us. "We will meet new people, and, there will be loads of fun!" She said too cheerfully, and too loudly. I had to cover my ears because I was sitting just righg next to her.
Jared snorted. "Quit lying. You're excited for the boys." Cheska blushed and the rest of us laughed at her. Wherever Cheska goes, she's always excited to see boys. Mr. Failed Skinny Robot Contraption was proof of it.
Jared looked at me sneakily, and I felt a surge of panic. "But you, Celene, you're not excited for the boys. I'm pretty sure you're not excited for girls, either," he chuckled. I almost had the urge to punch him. "You're not that kind of girl. So, what are you excited for?"
I thought of his question. What was I excited for? The activities? Nope. Not in a million years. The food? Maybe. They tasted better than the cafeteria food back at Bloomington High.
But then I smiled. I knew exactly what I was excited for. "The campfire," I said. Jared then smiled at me. They all smiled. They knew why I was excited for campfires.
When Jared, Natalie, Cheska and I were in middle school, we also went to a camp. The first and last Bloomington Summer Camp. It was a memorable experience, especially what happened during the campfire. We sang songs, played games, and made smores. It seemed normal for a campfire, but with the way I spent it with them, it was a night I never forgot about.
Prince and Jennifer only got to be our classmate in High School, but they easily became friends with us. We told them about that night. They said they want to experience it, too, but too bad Jennifer couldn't come since only five students were allowed. But I promised her that I will take a video of the night so she won't feel left out, and she was fine with it.
Campfires for me looked like something you can cherish for the rest of your life. How a big fire in the middle can be the witness of songs, smores, and laughter. It sounds cheesy, believe me I know cheesy because Jared tried to make melted cheese on a stick, but sometimes cheesy moments aren't so bad. They're actually worth remembering for.
I kept talking to Cheska when the other three immediately fell asleep (Natalie laying his head on my shoulder, and Prince and Jared laying theirs on each other), and this time not about boys (Which was hard considering it was Cheska who I was talking to).
"Do you think I should get an undershave?" She asked, fiddling with her hair on her back.
I tried to imagine her with an undershave, and honestly, I could picture her rocking it. "I think it'll look great on you, but would it be allowed at school?" I asked.
She shrugged. "Maybe. Maybe not. But I can just always hide it with my hair, so it's no problem." I nodded because she had a point. "I'm going to get an undershave later," she said to me.
"You'll do it by yourself?" I asked.
She laughed. "Of course not. I don't have a stretchable neck to see my head, don't I?" She joked. "You're going to shave my hair."
My eyes went wide. "No way," I immediately said. "Never in a million years."
She pouted. "Fine," she said with a grunt. "I'll have Natalie to do it then." I sighed in relief. I loved art, but not when it included blades and human skin. Just thinking about freaked me out.
When we ran out of something to talk about, we played with the two boys. We placed their hands around each other which made them look like two monkeys in love. Just think about those keychains with two monkeys hugging each other and you'd immediately get the idea.
Cheska took out her phone, took a picture of them, and edited it on her editing app. After just a few minutes, the picture showed Jared and Prince as apes who wouldn't let go of each other. They looked cute, hilarous, and stupid all at the same time.
They'd be so pissed, but it would be totally worth it.
Laughing with Cheska in hush immediately made me certain that the camp would be something worth remembering for. But what happened next definitely beat everything else.
Cheska's eyes widened when she saw something at the back, like she saw the Statue of Liberty flying inside the RH. "Oh. My. Gosh." Her eyes grew so wide, like she saw a hundred guys-with-great-hair in front of her.
I turned around to see what made her shocked. As I did, I immediately knew there was no turning back.
My heart started beating so fast and for a moment I couldn't breathe. Like everything around me stopped. Like someone had a remote and played pause on me. I never felt like it before, not even with Jace. I never felt a million butterflies fluttering inside my stomach, a million degrees melting my heart inside me, and a million different kind of sparks floating in front of me, all at the same time. It was a foreign feeling, but I liked it, very very much.
I couldn't understand why I felt it. Why of all people, it was him that I felt it too. I never even saw the guy before. He was, oh my, a stranger.
My heart beated faster, which I didn't think could be possible because of how fast it beated on the first second. My eyes followed him. My eyes focused on him. The way he walked. The way he moved. The way his hair bounced as he walked and moved.
Why did I feel that way? Well, making his way inside the RH was a guy with the most dazzling eyes, fairest skin, pointed nose, perfect teeth, and addicting smile that I have ever seen.
The question is, did I just experience love at first sight?

Ladies and gentlemen, meet Mr. Stranger. 😊
I know that I should write something cheesy and sweet to go with the chapter, but I have to ask you guys a question.
Have you ever thought of somebody as someone who is just pure perfection? Like you praise that person and you can't believe that that person is real? But you find out something and suddenly he's not Mr. Perfect anymore? I'm in that situation today, and it's like finding out that Santa Claus isn't actually real. I guess the saying "Nobody's Perfect" is actually correct after all. 😒
Book suggestion of the chapter: The Kane Chronicles by Rick Riordan. It's a Trilogy. If you've loved Percy Jackson, then you'll definitely love this. It's Egyptian Mythology in a whole new level. 😊 Maybe you'll fall inlove with Anubis like I did. 😍
