It was mid-August 2020, when I lay spread-eagled in the garden, resting comfortably on a sun lounger, although way past midnight it was pleasantly warm. My purpose was to watch and capture the expected meteorite shower on camera but got more than expected. Most of what I'd seen was white, but I wouldn't say it was boring, more like repetitive, when suddenly there was a flash of fluorescent blueish/purple light. 

It was heading straight for me, and my life flashed before my eyes, then came a resounding warning. 

Beware, come September you will have a new Mistress of Flash Fiction.
