Title : "Wings seeking Syrup"

hummingbird wings

wings of jewels on the sea

wings that shimmer

shimmer in sunbeams

shimmer in deep green

green as the sheen on a dragonfly's wing

green as the soft verdant hue of spring

spring with her lips

spring gently kissed

kissed the throat of the hummingbird

kissed her with blossoms

blossoms of silk

blossoms that cradle the nectar

nectar like sweet perfume

nectar like liquid jewels

jewels spun together in a garment of feathers

jewels like the sun on emerald silk

silk encrusted with fairy dust

silk like the feathers

feathers that hum

feathers hum in kaleidoscope colors

colors painting the air

colors sprinkling the air with jewels

jewels on the wings of the fairy

jewels in glistening hues

hues of shattered tanzanite

hues sprinkled on malachite

malachite ignited by the sunlight

malachite dusted with gold

gold as the shimmering sun on the waters

gold as the glittering sunset waves

waves of splashing honey beads

waves of nectar

nectar so sweet

nectar of perfumed beads

beads of nourishment

beads of sugar

diamonds on leaves

Note: Prior to this competition, I'd never even heard of the blitz poem, so this is my newborn attempt at writing one. As a result, I'm not very happy with this piece, so bear with me as it's my very first try!
