Prompt: Autumn Food

"That's too much flour Cole!"

Kai's fingers wrap around Cole's wrist, pulling the measuring cup into an upright position, pausing the outflow of the flour to stop. Cole's eyes meet his, a slightly offended look in his own. A gentle smile forms on Kai's face.

"The recipe says two hundred and fifty grams of sugar, not two hundred and seventy five."

Cole's mouth forms a small 'o' as he nods, allowing Kai's hand to guide the cup back onto the countertop. Kai giggles and pulls his hand away, continuing to mix the mixture.

"Did you preheat the oven?"

Cole nods, leaning over and grabbing the loose ends of Kai's apron, tying it into a bow before hugging him from behind, dropping his head onto his shoulder. Kai smiles and brings one of his hands to Cole's and loops their fingers together gently.

"I love you."

"I love you too firecracker."

Cole peppers Kai's neck in kisses while he continues mixing and pouring the mixture into a pie tin. Kai giggles and slowly pulls away.

"I need to put this in the oven now."

Cole pouts and lets go, allowing Kai to step away and carefully place the tin in the oven. Cole immediately pulls him into another hug as the younger sets a timer on his phone.

"Let's go and cuddle then."

Cole nods rapidly, leading him into the living room and sitting down, pulling Kai with him. Kai smiles and snuggles into him, reaching for the remote and putting a random movie.

"Kai?" Cole asks, sitting up properly and sniffing the air. "Do you smell smoke?"

Kai sniffs the air, his eyes going wide when the scent of smoke wafts over him.

"Fuck. The pie!"

Wriggling free, Kai jumps up and sprints into the kitchen, pulling the oven gloves on and opening it, pulling out a burnt to the crisp pie. He places it on the cooling mat, releasing a hand to push the small fire back, taking enough control to diminish it.

Cole sighs and leans against the counter.

"I'm sorry."

"No, no. It's not your fault Cole," Kai rushes over, dropping the oven gloves and holding Cole's hands in his own and squeezing gently. "We lost track of time. That's all."

"But the pie is ruined."

"Yeah...but Zane and Pixal will make a better one this week anyway."

Cole nods, squeezing Kai's hands back before an idea pops into his head.

"Ninjago bakery have a special Fall menu if you want to go."

Kai looks up, a grin on his face as he nods excitedly.

"Yeah of course I do!"

"Let's go then."

Cole takes Kai's hand as they walk out and down the street, swinging their hands and chatting about pumpkin pie.

This is really short. I didn't intend for this to be as short as it is but I lava was my second idea as I believe I've done Pixane baking for Flumptober before (I could be very wrong in thinking that but that's why I changed it.
