Before
Olivia laughed and laughed as Ben made silly faces at her. There was a twinkle in her bright blue eyes, a smile on her curved lips, as they cuddled in the soft queen bed together. Her blonde hair spread out on the pillow underneath her while they had fun being together. She never knew life could be like this. So full of fun, laughter, love. Her own parents never even loved her like this. Well, then again, they were more distant than anything.
Her parents, James and Teresa Hanson, were very rich and well known in the country for what they do. James started his own oil company at the young age of eighteen when his own father kicked him out of his home. He wanted to show the whole world, including his father, what he could do when he put his mind to something. It took only a year to make himself successful and a year later he met Teresa.
Olivia remembered the story well since her nanny was always very close to Teresa. Nicole and Teresa were best friends for years. She was very lucky that Nicole took over her care when Teresa dismissed her. Olivia never understood why her mother didn't love her. Nicole always told her that Teresa was just not able to be a natural mother. It, unfortunately, wasn't in her.
Teresa was in college when she met James. She was at a fraternity party where she managed to get herself drunk. James's cousin Alex was in that fraternity and he decided to swing by to hang out with him. He found Teresa getting sick right outside in the bushes. Of course, he did the right thing and helped her get home instead of staying. Ever since, the two of them have been inseparable.
It was just too bad they couldn't share that love with Olivia. They were much in love with each other but never wanted a kid. She remembered how much she cried when Teresa told her she was a mistake. Who says that to their own child? Olivia ran to Nicole crying, feeling miserable and unwanted.
At least Nicole cared about her. When Olivia turned twenty one, Nicole took her celebrating in Las Vegas. She was winning big at the black jack table when he came to watch. Olivia batted her eyelashes at him as she won another hundred dollars with her next hand. He smiled at her as she continued to collect the money.
Finally, Olivia decided she had enough for now so she went to cash out. He followed her over to the counter. Once she collected her winnings, Olivia turned to him. "Well hello there." She gave a bright smile.
He gave her a wink back where his dark eyes sparkled, with a grin on his face. "Good job over there. Even I'm not that good. How do you do it?"
Olivia shrugged. "Beginners luck I suppose. It's my first time doing this."
"Really? That's amazing. Mind if I share in your good luck?" He gestured to the money she just put in her purse before running a hand through his dark hair.
"Uh no but thanks. I have to get back before my friend misses me. Nice meeting you!"
Before Olivia could rush off, he slipped a piece of paper with his name and number on it. "Give me a call sometime."
Later that night, she pulled out the paper from her purse and read his name on it. Benjamin Wilson. He was pretty cute, maybe she should give him a chance.
The rest, as you say, was history. After that day they became very close friends. They didn't even think to start dating until she was nearly thirty seven. Olivia enjoyed Ben very much and he with her. The two of them did almost everything together. She couldn't think of anything better than this. Ben meant the world to her. Olivia knew they were destined for each other.
That day, in her bed, was just one of the many days they spent together. He made her laugh and she made him incredibly happy. Honestly, what could possibly go wrong?
