20 | ❛ Date Time ❜
❛I love when you're wrong❜
After talking with someone like Michelle who didn't know the first thing about going on a date, Andy was even more worried about her excursion with Peter in just a few hours. She had never been on a date, and the Avengers were absolutely no help at all in the matter. Andy had just recently discovered that the butterflies in her stomach when she was around Peter was a crush, and now she was enacting upon those butterflies to do something she would never have thought she would.
Her only choice was to go and talk to her best friend about what to do and hope that he could help her.
Her predicament basically explained why she was wandering over to Pappy's little corner and dropping her bag against the brick wall where she normally sat with him. Confusion arose inside of her as she realized Pappy was nowhere to be found and when he did leave he was always around at least nearby.
No matter, Andy sat down and laid her head against the brick, her eyes closing as she rested for a quick moment after a tiring day. She sat for minutes, just listening to the constant chatter of the New Yorkers and the car horns in front of the street.
"You know, you should try to smile, or else your face will get stuck like that. And no one wants that," someone said, his voice growing louder as he approached the corner. Andy grinned, her eyes still closed. A laugh emitted from the person in front of her and she felt a change in motion besides her meaning the person sat down. Andy opened her eyes and turned her head to face her friend, "You disappeared. I almost thought you left me," she told him, facing the street again as she couldn't bear to meet his eyes with the fear that he could have actually disappeared and she would be alone.
"I could never leave you, Andy. That would be very hard. Very, very, hard."
Andy looked down at her hands that were resting on her bent legs. She tried to contain the embarrassment on her face. She tried to convince herself it was embarrassment, but she knew that deep down it was adoration instead. The Avengers had deadly careers, but Pappy would always be there to stay.
Trying to break the tension, Andy cleared her throat and looked back at Pappy who was watching the citizens of New York carefully. "So, um, I have a date tonight."
Pappy whipped around and stared at the girl with wide eyes, "You what?"
Andy smiled, "I know you have to approve, so I just wanted to tell you. It's also the reason I'm not working tonight and that I'm giving you your apple early," she explained, looking away to heave her backpack onto her legs and dig through it for the fruit she was giving her friend. She bit her lower lip as she dug past the folder and papers and smiled lightly when she found the white papertowel encasing the apple.
"Who? Who who who? Tell me who! Tell me their full name, their address, and their parents! Tell me, tell me, tell me!"
Andy groaned and laid her head against the wal, "Pappy, calm down, alright?" she asked, the man narrowing his eyes at her and poutinng like a small child. "It's Peter Parker," she finally said, watching as the man's face grew in happiness and joy filled his eyes. "Oh boy, oh man! Peter Parker? Really? Are you pulling my hair? Is this a joke? Oh, Andy this better not be a joke! You listen here, young lady -- "
"It's not a joke, Pappy. Peter texted me last night."
"Over text? Oh, I best teach that young fellow a lesson and -- "
"Yeah, sure, Pap. While you're doing thatI'll be hopelessly trying to figure out an outfit for my date. The one that happens tonight?"
The older homeless man rolled his eyes and scrambled to his feet before grabbing Andy's arm and pulling her up with questionably a lot of strength. And before Andy could ask where they were going, he had her backpack in one hand and th next they were in Andy's closet while trying to figure out what to wear.
There wasn't a doubt in Andy's mind that this night was going to be perfect, And Pappy was more than overly excited that his best friend was finally getting to go on a date, just like her parents would want for her.

"He is not the best Avenger!" Andy shouted across the table with a laugh leaving her lips. The boy across from her rolled his eyes and folded his arms across his chest as he leaned against the booth cushions. "Right, because you would know. What, have you met him? You can't judge before you know the guy. Besides, everyone knows Captain America is the best Avenger." he argued with a winning smirk plastered across his lips.
"I'm not saying I don't like the guy," Andy corrected Peter Parker, watching as his smug look was wiped from his face. "I'm just saying that the best Avenger is hands down Iron Man," the girl concluded, lifting her hand and dropping the straw onto the table as if she was protraying a mic drop. She would be lying if she said her opinion on the best Avenger wasn't biased. Iron Man was her favorite Avenger because Tony Stark was easily one of the most important people in her life. He really cared for her. Of course, the others did too. Especially Steve. But for Tony it was different, he was the dad she didn't have but wished she did.
"I love when you're wrong," Peter shrugged carelessly, picking up his slice of pizza and lifting it to his lips to take a bite of the greasy meal. "Excuse you!" Andy gasped, chucking her straw at him and laughing as he hid behind his dessert menu. He removed the shield from his face and stuck his tongue out at the girl before she began tearing up the straw paper and chucking the wrapping at him. All that could be heard was the laughs of the two teens and it made several couples in the restaurant cast annoyed glances to the two but they didn't give one care.
"Um, you guys can't make a mess in here. You're going to have to clean this up, completely," someone interrupted, making the two look up shamefully to the head of their table where a girl who couldn't have been more than twenty was grumpily standing with her hands on her hips. Peter pursed his lips and turns his head to face the window as his cheeks burned in embarrasent. Andy ooked at the woman and smiled lightly before scratching the back of her neck, "We'll clean it up, don't worry," she promised.
The girl rolled her ryes and folded her arms over her chest, "Well, get on with it," she motioned with her hand after noticing the teens weren't doing anything to keep theur promise. Andy narrowed her eyes and scoffed, "Look, I was trying to be nice and all, but you standing her like this and ruining our date is really making me not want to help with your student loans and give you a fifteen-percent tip. We said we'll clean it up, you don't need to watch us like little children at a playground. I'm sure other tables need your assistance so you can get on with it, too," Andy snapped at her, clearly not backing down.
The waitress sneered at Andy before turning on her heel and appraoching a different tbale where the friends were ready to pay teir bill. Andy watched the girl walk away before turning to face Peter who was still facing the window but was trying to hold in his laughter. His cheeks were bright red and his head was lightly shaking. When he noticed the girl was gone, he burst into laughs and Andy smiled herself, her dimples proudly showing. "Geez, And," he said between breaths. "Could you have been any more direct?"
Andy shrugged and let out a small chuckle, "Come on, 'You guys can't make a mess in here,'" She mcked playfully, her hands going to her hips as she bobbed her head back and forth to exemplify her point. Peter returned to not being able to breath due to his laughing fit and Andy smiled, something that didn't seem to leave her face for the entirety of that night. "Before we can't breathe anymore from the remarks of that chick, I would just like to end our early argument and conclude with the statement that: Iron Man is the best Avenger and the end."
This chapter is really shitty and
rushed so I want to apologize in advance.
