This poem was written as the introduction to the Peace Project.

Unfortunately, the Project died away quickly, after a tremendous start.

Which, to me, is a sad thing.

It also started out the Pub's attempt at writing the longest Peace Poem ever, which has also fizzled out.

Makes me wonder if we will ever have Peace.

Peace On Earth

What if we tried something radical ?

Something never done before

What if we tore down all the walls ?

And opened wide every door

What if we erased all the borders?

And united all the lands

What if we created, just for one day,

Peace between every child, woman and man ?

What if we stopped seeing colours ?

And saw the beauty there instead

What if we stopped seeing race ?

And saw equality between all men

What if we stopped seeing religion ?

And instead started a rebirth

What if we stopped all the hatred ?

And truly had, Peace on Earth

What if we stopped all the fighting ?

And threw all the guns away

What if we stopped all the killing ?

And brought a peace that could stay

What if we stopped all the hunger ?

And shared with one and all

What if we simply loved our neighbours ?

And heeded the universal call

What if, for just one day ?

We could do all this and more

What if we did away with the fear ?

And created a world that adored

What if we could, for one day ?

Tell me, what would it be worth ?

To have a world of friendship and love

To truly have , Peace on Earth

So, I say, we give this a try

And pick a day to celebrate

Unite this world, before it succumbs

To its own inevitable fate

I say we pick December 31st

And do everything we can

Don't look at it as the eve of the New Year

Look upon it as the rebirth of man

Now..

I ask again

What would it be worth ?

To truly have one day

of

Peace On Earth
