" Can you two love birds stop flirting? "

The bright sun shone down on the three best friends as they wandered the streets of Ssangnum-Dong. It was the last week of summer break, the last week they didn't have to worry as much about their future. They were about to enter High School, the moment they had waited for ever since they were kids. But, they decided to enjoy this last week to have fun and not worry; thinking about the future can happen later.

"Why are you chasing me?" Yi-Seo yelled at Sang-woo. "Gi-hun is an easier target than me!" She laughed and pointed at him. He immediately quickened his pace to escape. 

"It's more fun trying to chase you." Sang-woo laughed and picked her up once he got close to her. "Whose the easier target now, huh?"

Yi-Seo laughed, squirming in his grip. "You are not funny! Gi-hun purposely ran faster so you could get me." She huffed once Sang-woo let her go. "I promise that I am a fast runner."

"Hmm, doesn't seem like it." Sang-woo teased

"Can you two love birds start flirting?" Gi-hun said as he tried to catch his breath.

"Gi-Hun? Since when did you get here?" Yi-Seo asked confused.

"Aish, exactly my point. Whenever you two start bickering, it's like I don't exist." Gi-hun placed his hand over his heart and gave a fake, exaggerated sad expression. "Just date already."

Yi-seo and Sang-woo gave each other a disgusted look.

"Me? Date him? Never in a million years!" Yi-Seo gagged at his comment. "Even if he were the last person on Earth, I would not date him." She shook her head and placed her arm around Gi-hun. "You would be my first choice." she told him and smiled brightly.

"Same thing for me." Sang-woo pushed up his glasses. "Dating Yi-seo would be a nightmare. I would be losing my self-respect." That comment made Yi-seo's jaw drop. Sang-woo sent her an amusing smile.

"You're just mad that I'm better than you. You can't handle that I might beat you." She let go of Gi-hun and leaned towards Sang-woo, glaring at him.

"Key word: might." Sang-woo leaned down and cocked his head to the side.

"I will beat you Cho Sang-woo, mark my words!" she pointed her finger towards him.

Gi-hun shook his head, laughing. "This is what I'm talking about,"  he muttered. Realizing they weren't paying attention to him, he quietly walked off to grab a snack.

"And then- and then - the whole world will know who I am!" Yi-seo declared proudly, only to see Sang-woo smiling at her like she was joking.

"You're so annoying," she muttered, lightly hitting his arm.

"You know you love my smile," he said leaning back. "Where did Gi-hun go?" Both of them looked around, finally noticing their friend was missing.

"I miss when I was the one doing all the talking." Gi-hun got out from the corner with a corndog in his hand. "It was more peaceful."

"Well, you can talk all you want now," Yi-Seo said with a grin. She linked her arm in between his. "We're heading to my place—my mom invited you two for dinner. Let's go!"

As they walked, Gi-hun leaned in close to Yi-Seo. "You totally like him," he whispered.

Yi-Seo's eyes widened. "What? No, I don't!"

"Yes, you do."

"No, I don't!"

"Ooh, someone has a crush on Sangy-woo," he chirped

"I do not!"

"Oh c'mon, admit it!"

"Admit what?" Sang-woo asked as he finally reached them. They both stopped their tracks and looked at each other. Gi-hun sent Yi-seo a smirk.

"That Yi-seo has-" Gi-hun was cut off when she stuffed the corndog in his mouth. "What was that for?" he mumbled through a mouthful.

"Gi-hun is being delusional." She awkwardly laughed. Sang-woo raised  a brow at her, not saying a word. "Let's get going before we're late!" she shouted and gave them a thumbs-up before running down the street.

The two boys exchanged a look and laughed.

"She's so weird sometimes," they said together, following after her.

It's been a while since I've written a story so if it's a bit choppy, I do apologize in advance. This chapter was to show the dynamic between the characters to have a better understanding how they were before.

There will be a lot of flashback scenes in the story so I write something you don't understand, don't worry. There will be an explanation. :)
