Zoe's POV.....

"Yah everything's alright over here. Kind of boring though" Y/n answered. She was in America living with her parents. I really missed her, but I video chatted with her every other day. It's not much, but I don't take it for granted.

"Can't say the same for here.." I laughed as I replied. Things are really hectic with all the stuff that just happened....And not to mention training for the competition.

"But guess what Zoe?" Y/n asked while smiling widely.

"I don't know, just tell me." I hated guessing games, a lot. I looked through the screens at her surroundings. She loved in a nice house. The walls were a light shade a blue, like the sky. And she had picture frames, with all those funny little quotes and stuff, all over the house.

"No come on guess.. " she pleaded, as I brought my attention back to her.

I sighed and rolled my eyes, "Alright fine. Your dad bought you tickets to see the Jonas Brothers? Wait no, your horse is pregnant??" I sighed again, "I don't knowww" I whined.

Y/n laughed and rolled her eyes, "Ok, so you know how you are turning sixteen soon, and you're having a big party?"

"Well yes I know that. And it's not that big of a party." I replied a little intrigued

She laughed, "Oh whatever...I know you Zoe, you like big" she ran out of view of the camera for a moment. When she came back she had a little piece of paper in her hand.

"What is that?" I asked.

"Surprise.....I'm flying to the island ......... For your birthday. And to stay for a few months...." she exclaimed with a huge grin on her face.

******Y/n POV******

I took my suitcase from the man and paid him. I turned around and there I saw bright fields. I decided to check out the stables first, so I could see where my horse would be staying, and get a lay of the land.

I walked into the office room and saw a girl standing there. She had brown hair and she looked about my age. She turned to me and smiled.

"Hi, I'm Y/n" I greeted as I offered out my hand.

With a smile still on her face, she shook my hand and replied "Hi, I'm Mia. It's nice to meet you" she let go of my hand and picked up some folders next to her.

"So, what can I help you with?" She asked.

"Well I just got here, but my horse is supposed to be staying in the stables"

I looked around as she searched through her files. The place was kind of old, there was an old timey feel to it. I liked it. And it didn't look so bad for being here on an island.

"Y/l/n, is it?"

"Yes that's me." I replied looking back at her, my arms were lazily laying by my side as I never know what to do with them.

"Let me guess, you're related to Zoe, am I right?" she raised an eyebrow at me.

"Yes I am. she's my cousin" I answered as I scratched my arm. I didn't know if she'd like me or not, sometimes Zoe has a way with people. Good and bad.

she smirked, "She's a handful that one."

I laughed and thanked God that she didn't have a bad past with her. "Oh trust me I know" she laughed and shook her head. I suppose that means she likes me.

"So can you point me in the direction of Zoe's residence? She was supposed to text me but I never got one." I don't know why though. I had okay service, so she could reach me. guess I'll have to ask her when I get there.

"Sure, always happy to help a friend. it's to the left and past the field. you'll come across the house and a fence in front, and that's your stop." Her accent her was heavy. And she sounded sincere.

"Thanks. I guess I'll be seeing you around then huh?" I questioned.

She placed the files down and walked around the desk. "You can count on it"

......

I hauled my suitcase over the fence and attempted to not brake anything. But by the sound of it, that was highly unlikely.

As I dragged my suitcase thought the grass I got a good look at the house. It was beautiful, old, and big. Not to mention all the brick. I finally made it to the door and knocked.

Soon enough Zoe came running to the door. She opened it and immediately threw herself at me. Next thing I know I'm on the ground, and my back is killing me.

"Ahh Zoe, my back. I'm dead, I'm officially dead." I whined

"I'm sorry. I'm just so excited. I haven't seen you in forever," she exclaimed, she helped me up and lagged all the dirt from my blouse.

"Well I'm excited to be here. Now can we go inside?" My feet ached from the walk all the way here. And not to mention the fall I took.

After I hugged everyone and put my stuff up, Zoe asked me if I wanted to go on a hack. Of course I said yes. anything to get out on my horse. I loved riding out in the country with the hills. There were not many hills or open areas to ride in California.

We were currently racing. She would get in front and then I would, and then she would and so on. As we made it to the top of a big green hill I slowed down, "Okay let's take a break."

I got off my horse and looked at my surroundings. It was beautiful. The sky was a deep shade of orange and pink, it was beginning to set. But the trees swayed back and forth with the wind. I looked ahead and saw fields with fences and a big brick building.

"What's that place?" I asked Zoe as I pointed in the direction of the building.

"Oh that. Yah that's Holloway, are rivals." She answered with a hint of disgust in her voice, "They think they are better than everyone, but really they aren't."

I laughed, "I would like to see that,"

"Ok I guess we can ride by there. But that's it, we aren't talking to anyone just looking. They are arrogant and cocky....And I'd rather not deal with them right now."

I hopped back on my horse and we trotted our way over there. As we approached she mouthed a "be quiet". for some reason she didn't want them to hear or see us.

We rode by the open field, there was a boy standing by his horse, well I assumed it was his. He had dirty blonde hair, and that's pretty much all I could see as he was turned in the other direction. Zoe looked at me in worry and shook her head and ordered us to leave.

We almost got out of there without being seen, but of course Raven just had to say something. He shook his mane and stomped his hooves on the ground. At that point the boy heard and turned to look.

Of course Zoe yeeted away and I was left in the dust. I turned and looked at him. Now it was him staring at me, and me staring at him. I didn't quite know what to do so I just looked at him.

He looked me up and down, making me feel self conscious. And then he just smirked and took his horse and walked the other way. For some reason that little smirk made my inside twist, and not the bad kind, it was like butterflies.
