At school, the phone rang during class. The teacher answered. "Hello? Yes, he's here. Okay. How long will it take? Okay then. That's fine. Alright, bye." She hung up. "Tai, the principal wants to see you." The class started to 'ooh'. Tai started to get nervous. "Oh, quite it down. He's not in trouble. Tai, you may leave." He slowly got up and left. "What did I do? I don't think I did anything wrong." Blair whispered to Rosena. "Do you know anything?" " Nope, not a thing."

Tai and the principal was looking at each other. He was still nervous. "Tai, I bet you want to know why you're here." He didn't say anything. "Well, I think you'll be interested in what I'm about to say. Tai, you like to Buddyfight right?" Tai suddenly burst with excitement. "Yes, I do! I mean, yes sir." "So the BFA is doing a school tournament. The winner's school get a 30,000 dollar check, while the winners get a 100,000 dollar scholarship." "I'm guessing that you want be to fight?" "Not just you. It will be a team event, but in a tag team format." "Tag team?" This is the first time he heard of a tag team Buddyfight. The principal handed him a packet. "I need to register your team by Friday. It starts in two weeks. Do you think Mystic Flame can fight again?" Tai crossed his arms and started to think. Then he let out a grin. He was excited. A new format that he never thought of. "I see no problem in doing it." The principal nodded. "Good, now you need to find a fourth member. You are dismissed." He was about to leave, then keys was flying towards him. "Also your team gets a practice room." "For real?!" He nodded. "Thank you! You won't be disappointed!" Then he left.

After-school, Tai was walking with Blair and Rosena while telling them about the tournament. "Team Mystic Flame fights again!" Blair said. "Who's our fourth member?" Rosena asked. He started to think. Then smoke started to come from his head. "I think I fried his brain." Blair sighed. "How can you be smart and dense at the same time? How about you get someone you just fought?" "He's brain was still fried. "A girl with silver hair." Rosena said. He stopped, then hit his fist in his hand. "Kurumi!" "Jeez, how did you figure that out?" They both said sarcastically. "I'm go ask her!" Then he took off. "Does he know where he's going?" "Who knows?"

Kurumi was doing some homework, when the doorbell rang. She answered it and it was Tai panting. "Kurumi.... will you.....team?" He was panting really hard. "Team?" He finally caught his breath. "Will you join my team for the school tournament?" "I don't think..." "Please! We need one more fighter and you're very strong." She couldn't believe what she just heard. Someone thinks she's strong. "Okay, I'll join." "Thank you! Come to this room after school tomorrow." He handed her a slip with the room number on it. "Okay then." "Alright then, bye. Thanks again." He started to run again. She looked at the slip. " I'm strong."

The next day, the girls were there but Tai wasn't. "I wonder what's keeping him." They agreed. Then Tai shows up with a box. "Sorry I'm late. I had to tell the principal about the team. He also provided stuff for us to practice with." He opened the box and they looked. It had mats for them and a copy of the rules. "How about we go over the rules?" Kurumi suggested. They agreed. Blair read the rules. "These are the rules for the ABC Cup. It's in the newly formed tag team format. Two teams of 2, fight each other per match. The turn order will be A1, B1, A2, and B2. Both teams will start out with 4 gauge because they will be sharing it. The size limit is 6, while everyone will have the usual 10 life. The field will be 1 right, 1 left, and 2 centers for each player. Each player can spells or effect on the parther's turn. Usual win conditions apply. Deck out or out of life. May the best school win and have fun! BFA. So any questions?" Rosena raised her hand. "Yes?" "How are we gonna choose teams?" "I have a way." Tai said, then he took out popscicles sticks. "Each one has 1 out of 2 numbers. The two who draw the same  number, will be a team, got it?" They nodded.

He flipped them over and shuffle them. They drew a stick. Tai and Blair has 1, while Rosena and Kurumi has 2. "Well this is are our teams, Blair and I, and Rosena and Kurumi. Any objections?" They shook their heads. "Now that's settled, how about a tag match?" "Yeah!"
