"IVE LIVED HERE my whole life. My family has always been working for the royals." Sephron explained to the princess, as they both walked down the corridor in search of some food. "I never really questioned it because it's not like they work me to the bone or treat me terrible."Korelia listened on to the smaller woman's story, having spent a good while talking as the princess tried to rid herself of the much that was on her skin.
"I would hope they don't."
"Yeah, there's still a few. Fince was kinda an asshole." Sephron said with a tilt of her head. Korelia's eyes widened, making a face at the news she had yet to tell anyone regarding Fince.
"Lucky you."
"I beg your pardon?"
"Nothing." Korelia giggled.
"Anyway, I guess it is kinda surprising to learn about this kind of thing. I can assure you though, I won't go spreading it!" Sephron yelled, turning her body to look over at Korelia. "I would kinda like to keep my job."
"Thanks Sephron. I really appreciate it." Korelia smiled at the maid.
They both turned a corner, Korelia stopping just in time before she ran into the on coming group. Sephron however was unlucky, smashing her face right into a hard chest.
"Eep!" She squeaked like always, face turning a bright red from the impact. She slowly looked up, eyes on the blue skin of the barbarian in front of her.
Grog scratched at his head, giving Sephron a smile as she looked up at him. Her face was tucked right between his chest, chin resting against his skin as she strained to look up at him.
"Oh! Might want to watch where you are going small lady." Grog moved back to grab a hold of Sephron's biceps, picking her up.
"Up." Grog said with a laugh. He placed her to the right of him, setting her down next to Scanlan. "There we go."
"And who might you be?" Sephron squeaked again, jumping behind Korelia, hiding behind the princess's body.
"This is my personal maid, Sephron." Korelia said. Spehron let out a what, never begin asked to be placed in that job. The princess looked around the hallway, a buzz ringing in her ear all of a sudden.
"Hello Princess." Keyleth said, her and Percy giving the woman a bow.
"Hi guys!" Korelia smiled. Her eyes scanned over the group's bodies, trying to look like this was the first time seeing them. "I see something...happened."
"We defeated a dragon!" Pike shouted, proud as everyone else smiled back at the royal. Korelia made a face that shouted surprise, her acting was quite spectacular.
"There was a dragon in Emon?" She asked with frown eyebrows.
"Didn't you already say tha-" Korlia elbowed Spehron in the gut, the girl groaning in pain and hunched over.
"I guess the Sovereign didn't tell anyone." Percy spoke.
"Probably. Telling the kingdom would only bring panic for the council." Korelia answered him.
"Yeah! Great! We got the dragon. Now!" Scanlan interrupted, looking over at the princess pointedly. "Do you mind showing us to your royal baths again? We kinda feel like shit."
"Oh! Um, yes." Korelia said, looking away from Scanlan, giving the others smiles. "Right this way."
"Don't take it personally." Percy apologized. "It's Scanlan."
Korelia only laughed, waving him off. "I can only assume."
"Uh...Excuse me." Sephron blushed red again, scooting out of Grog's way as the Goliath made his way after his friends.
"He's really huge." Sephron said, all of her visible skin flushed from embarrassment.
"Oh, yes. That's Grog." Korelia smiled at her new friend. "He's kind of dumb though."
"He's really huge." Korelia took a moment to watch Sephron, lips pulling into a smile as she tried to keep from laughing.
"If you are done, oogling. We should probably ask the other servants to send in bath toiletries."
"Right!" Sephron shouted, being pulled from her hazy stupor about the overly large man. "Right."
Once the princess had given all the members their supplies and asked that they put their clothing out for staff to wash, the males and females separated into different bath rooms. Though as Percy walked into the male's room, he quickly stopped surprised to see another man enjoying the steaming bath. The other three were playing around behind Percy, not seeing he had stopped, which lead to them bumping into him.
"Would you watch it!" Percy shouted, the man in the tub turning up to see Vox Machina walking in. Percy than turned back to whoever was in the pool.
"Sorry," Percy said. "We didn't know anyone was in here."
"Oh no, it's alright. These are the servants bath anyways." The man said, standing from his seat in the bath pool. His face was devoid of emotions, well it was blank at least. His yellow eyes really standing out to the human.
He really did not seem to care everything was out. Percy and Vax quickly looked away, Grog was indifferent, and Scanlan wiggled his eyebrows as he smirked at the man.
"Though most of the time they bathe at night when all of their chores are done." He said and reached for his towel off to the side.
"Are you part of the staff, hot stuff?" The guy's face stayed blank, blinking at the dwarf.
"You can say that."
"Scanlan, look. His hair is a funny color!" Grog said, pointing at the man's blue to white ombre hair. The man's face showed discomfort before quickly turning stoic again.
"Grog, don't be rude. He can kick us out." Percy told the goliath.
"Oh, sorry." Grog spoke.
"Not to worry. I should get going anyways. My hands have pruned so I think I am done bathing." The blue haired man went to gather his clothing, walking towards the changing rooms.
"We should talk later!" Scanlan shouted. He only got a few blinks before being left hanging.
"Have a godday." The man spoke, head bowing some to the human before he completely turned out of sight.
"Nice to meet you too?" Vax questioned, looking at the others wondering about the strange encounter. "Well, he was kind of a dick."
"Look who's talking." Scanlan snorted.
"Yes, well. At least I know I'm a dick." Vax argued.
While the others choose to take the time to relax and enjoy their win, Percy on the other hand really wanted to get to work on his inventions. Time off is really needed after defeating a dragon. Percy however, really couldn't spend his time relaxing. He felt like he could be doing something with his time so he chose to work on his things.
The princess wasn't shocked to find Percy out of the bathroom first, the man fiddling with his now clean clothes. She had been walking down with a maid to bring some things down to Vox Machina. She felt bringing them soothing things such as bath salts, aroma scents, certain foods. They had just defeated a large threat to the kingdom; even if she was a part of it. She got her chance to relax for the most part.
"The girls were the ones to ask for the towels. Be sure to bring it to them." Korelia told the maid she was walking with, gaining the attention of Percy. She smiled at him, but once again began to hear the buzzing grow louder with each step she took towards him. It was a humming really, a vibration being sent through her body.
"The protectors of the kingdom just defeated a dragon. You should give yourself more time to relax, Sir Percy." The human fixed his coat sleeve over his hand, giving the princess a smile as she grew closer to him.
"I find doing things with my hands to be relaxing." Korelia raised her eyebrows, eyes wide as a laugh bubbled in her throat. Percy suddenly turned red, watching as her face turned into one of laughter.
"My inventions," He tried to explain. "Creating them with my hands, rather than just sitting there."
"I understand, Percy." Korelia laughed. He watched her face light up, his own chuckle escaping his lips.
"I suppose you're right though; taking a little bit longer in the bath to relax some. Given that last time we were in a hurry to meet with the council."
"And now?" Korelia asked.
"Well now, I kinda just wanted a chance to speak with you more." Korelia suddenly blushed, moving to look down at the floor. She laughed out of embarrassment, trying to come up with something to say.
"Flattery will get you everywhere, Percival." Percy glanced over the princess, her soft gaze making him feel fuzzy. While there were girls in the group, talking with them was not the same as it was conversing with the princess. He felt as though she could relate to him more. Well to an extent, clearly the princess's family aren't dead and she's the last surviving member.
"Would you care for a walk?" He asked, wanting to talk to her more.
"I would be delighted." She answered, turning to lead him away from the hallway in which they stood in. "The gardens looks lovely, this time of day."
As Percy took in a deep breath at the fresh air, he glanced around the scenery, happy to be looking at such a sight. His eyebrows rose, finding Keyleth outside as well looking at all the plants.
"Oh! Hey, Percy! Hi, princess." She shouted, waving a hand at the two.
"Hello, Miss. Keyleth. Did you not want to take the time to enjoy your bath?" Korelia asked, wondering why the group seemed to be in a rush when it came to any form of relaxing. Meeting Percy outside the baths was one thing, but meeting two members from Vox Machina? They seemed like the people who would enjoy their time off.
"Oh I did!" Keyleth assured. "I just really wanted to come visit the gardens. Nature relaxes me. Also you can just call me Keyleth."
"I see." Korelia spoke. "Walking around the gardens relaxes me as well. And you may call me Korelia; no need for my princess title."
Percy stood off to the side, shoulders sagged as he realized his time with the princess was taken for a bit. So he took to glancing at the shrubbery; trees planted here and there. And within the trees, many birds flew by. All blending in to the surroundings and all of the same color.
Except for one, from what Percy's eyes caught. The blue really stood out from all the browns and blacks that flocked nearby. While it stood in a tree it, was still almost as if watching Percy. The human moved side to side, the bird's head moving along as well. Percy glared, concluding that the bird itself was probably mocking him. With a glare, the bird cocked his neck towards Percy, before taking off into the sky and disappearing from view.
"Are you alright, Percy?" Korelia asked, her voice bringing him out of his stupor.
"Yes, yes. I am quite alright." He took a glance around. "Just admiring the birds."
"Oh! I never really paid them any mind. Only in passing."
"Me neither, not to worry." Korelia laughed, placing her hands behind her back to walk alongside Percy.
"So what's it like living in the castle?" Percy asked, strolling along. The princess turned to look at Percy's side profile. A smile formed on her face, watching as he took in the wind blowing in his face. He was calm, that much she could tell, content. Something he probably wasn't offered often.
"I have zero clue how to explain it." Korelia began. "Everything is done for you, but the problem with that is that everything is done for you."
Percy chuckled, nodding at her point of living in such a nice place.
"True but you get such a world-class education. Materials that you wouldn't normally have are also at your disposal. Can you imagine all the kinds of things you get to create? Being a royal really gives you that."
"So I would assume you would take that?" The human shot his head towards her, eyebrows frowned. "Use the power of being a royal to satisfy your needs of wanting to invent things?"
Percy looked back down, thinking it over. His ideas for inventing really only formed and came to be after leaving Whitestone. Would he still be having the same ideas had nothing happened to his family? The brain doesn't really deter from genius, but the will to pursue certain things differs in each situation. He was going to be the ruler of Whitestone; the oldest De Rolo sibling, thus meaning he would be the one to rule over the city. Truly, would Percy still have his inventions in front of him had nothing happened?
"I wouldn't know the answer." He finally told the princess; the girl having been watching him, waiting for an answer.
"I understand." Korelia said. She took a look at the sky, the sun's harsh rays finally settling down as the day turned into evening. A blue jay flew over head, it's shadow casting down onto the ground. It took a glance at Korelia, the girl glancing at Percy.
"Being born to who you are really changes everything." The human stopped walking, watching as Korelia's eyes glazed over as she looked over the mountain the castle was on. "No one would care, who I was had I been born to a regular family. No one would ever bat an eye, to who you are."
Percy, while trying not to show his confusion, squinted his eyes at the princess. There was a double meaning to her reply. Her body language gave away that she was talking about something else. She was in a dreamy look, almost as if she was thinking about being born to a farming family, far away from the capital.
Percy wasn't indifferent when it came to the human brain, he knew quite a lot about it. He studies it on occasion, trying to psychologically come up with answers to what people do and why they do it.
The princess was still human, from what he could see at least. And that easily told him that there were many things to hide from the public eye. Especially with being the princess.
