THE IMPALA ROLLED TO a stop outside of the warehouse. Jimmy flung his door open. Andy, Sam, and Dean quickly followed him.
"They're expecting you to come alone. That's exactly what you're gonna do." Dean explained to the terrified man.
"We'll work our way through the catwalks. We'll be right behind you." Sam added.
Jimmy looked between the three of them, bouncing nervously on the balls of his feet. Andy's eyes softened. "Jimmy, all you have to do is stay calm and stall. That way we can do our job."
A sudden flash of anger overtook Jimmy. "You want me to stay calm?" He took a step towards Andy, shortening the distance between them. "This is my family we're talking about."
Both Sam and Dean stepped forward in response as if shielding Andy from the man. She tilted her head.
"Listen to me." Dean gritted his teeth. "This will work. You understand? Nobody's gonna get hurt."
Jimmy rolled his eyes and shook his head. "Yeah, whatever." He turned, heading for the warehouse entrance. "Just...gimme a minute, okay?"
Sam, Dean, and Andy watched him go. A pit formed in Andy's stomach.
Sam turned to the two of them. "There's no way they're expecting him to come alone. You know this is probably a trap."
Dean nodded. "Yeah, I know. That's why I have a plan."
Andy crossed her arms over her chest as an amused smirk crossed her lips. "Do you, now?"
Dean puffed his chest. "I happen to make great plans."
Sam scoffed. "Since when?"
"Fuck off! Both of you!" Dean threw his arms in the air. "Just follow my lead. We're gonna get caught."
Andy groaned. "That's not a plan, Winchester. That's actually the opposite."
"It'll get us inside, won't it?" Dean smirked.
Sam looked down at Andy. "He's had worse ideas."
Closing her eyes, Andy took a deep breath. "You owe me a drink after this."
"That I can do." Dean chuckled. "Okay, follow me."
Andy pinched the bridge of her nose as she followed behind the brothers. Dean began stomping obnoxiously, acting as though he was unaware of the other demons that were around. "We have to help Jimmy!" He yelled, loudly pronouncing every word. "Come on, guys!"
"Hey! Stop!"
Three demons now stood in their path. Sam and Dean raised their hands in surrender. Andy scoffed. "Some plan..." She muttered under her breath before following their actions.
The demons didn't seem to notice how easy it was to capture them. They each gladly grabbed one of the Hunters, tightly gripping their hands behind their backs. "Move it!" The one holding Dean barked.
They pushed them along into the warehouse to where Jimmy and his 'wife' waited. Jimmy looked back at the three of them, stunned that they managed to get caught.
Sam looked at his brother with an exaggerated scowl. "Nice plan, Dean."
Dean shrugged. "Yeah, well, nobody bats a thousand."
Amelia looked at the demon holding Sam. "Got the knife?"
The demon nodded, pulling the 'demon-killing' knife from Sam's back pocket. Amelia nodded approvingly.
"You know what's funny?" She asked the Hunters.
"You wearing a soccer mom?" Dean quipped.
"I was actually bummed to get this detail, picking up an empty vessel. Sort of like a milk run. Now look who landed in my lap."
Andy rolled her eyes. Demons were nothing if not cocky.
Sam huffed. "Yeah, well, you got us, okay?" He looked at Jimmy and behind him. Andy only just noticed Claire tied up on a chair. Her blood boiled. "Let these people go."
"Oh, Sam," The demon playfully pouted. "It's easy to act chivalrous when your 'wonder girl' powers aren't working, huh?" She looked between the Hunters, barely sparing a glance at Andy. The Winchesters were what was important, not some random girl that tagged along. Clearly, the demon didn't know who she was. "Now for the punchline," The demon said pulling out a handgun and cocking it. "Everybody dies."
But instead of shooting one of the Winchesters, she turned suddenly and shot Jimmy in the stomach. The man cried out and doubled over, holding the fresh wound.
Amelia turned back to the other demons. "Waste little orphan Annie." And she left.
The demon holding Andy pushed her into the grasp of the one that held Dean. They both looked at each other and silently agreed that that was a stupid move.
He headed down the room to the chair that Claire was restrained in. Andy watched, horrified, at the passed-out, unsuspecting girl. The demon picked up a crowbar and moved to swing. Suddenly, Claire woke up. Stopping the metal bar with one hand, she placed the other on the forehead of the demon and killed it in a burst of light. Angelic light.
Sam quickly disarms his demon, while Andy and Dean both elbow theirs in the stomach. Andy kicks the demon in the head while Dean takes its legs out and it falls to the ground. From behind, Claire approached, placing her hand on the demon's forehead, killing it as she did the other. Andy and Dean look at her in shock, both breathing heavily. Dean looked at her closely. "Castiel..?"
From behind the three of them, Sam grunted and the demon screamed as he sliced her with the demon-killing knife. They all turned. Andy felt sick to her stomach at the sight of him bent over the demon's neck, sucking its blood as though he were a vampire. Sam rose, wiping his face as he turned. He stopped in his tracks at the sight of all of them watching him. Dean shook his head and looked away. Andy couldn't seem to tear her eyes off of his blood-stained mouth.
Sam raised his hand. No one at the time reacted, expecting him to attack them, but instead, a grunt came from behind. Dean and Andy whipped around to see Amelia stopped completely in her tracks. Using his powers, Sam did what he had done to that demon at the diner, forcing it out of its human vessel and back down to hell.
Andy felt her hands shaking. What the fuck, was the only thought in her mind. She looked down at Amelia, now demon-free, coughing and kneeling on the floor. Prying her eyes away from Sam and pushing her fear down, she bent down to help the woman. "Here..." She said softly, putting her hands under Amelia's arms and lifting her to her feet. She looked her over, checking for any fatal wounds. "Do you feel okay?"
Amelia nodded, her body shaking. "Yeah...I think so."
Andy nodded, satisfied, and then turned to Dean. She tilted her head and raised a brow, as if saying 'what the hell was that?' Dean shook his head, signalling that now was not the time.
"Mom!" A voice cut through the tension. Claire ran to her mother. Amelia dropped back down to her knees, opening her arms to hold the girl.
Dean and Andy looked over and saw Jimmy standing, completely healed. He was Castiel again. Andy could see it in his eyes.
The angel turned to leave, but Dean stopped him. "Cass, hold up. What were you gonna tell me?"
Castiel stopped and looked at Dean with indifference. "I learned my lesson while I was away, Dean. I serve Heaven, I don't serve man. And I certainly don't serve you." Dean didn't stop him this time as he left.
Andy wrapped her arms around her torso, mind buzzing. Sam had wiped the rest of the blood from his mouth and sighed. "I'll...be at the car."
Neither Andy nor Dean moved to stop him. Andy shook her head. "What the hell..?" She had seen Sam use his powers, but this was something else entirely.
Dean pinched the bridge of his nose. "Sam...he..." He sighed, struggling to phrase what he wanted to say. "When he was a baby, this yellow-eyed demon fed him his blood and it gave him those powers, which are fuelled by demon blood. And Ruby...she got him doped up on it." He looked at Andy. "I got your voicemail."
Andy tilted her head, momentarily confused. "Oh! The one from a few weeks ago?"
"Yeah." Dean nodded. "I... appreciated it." The sincerity of his words seemed difficult for him. Andy smirked slightly. "Thanks for keeping an eye on him, even though you never should've let him go in the first place."
Andy rolled her eyes. "Do you think I could've stopped him?" She shook her head.
Dean shrugged. "Well, we have to stop him now. He can't keep drinking blood like some vamp." He rustled through his pockets and grabbed his phone. "I'll call Bobby-"
"Bobby Singer?" Andy stopped him at the familiar name.
"Yeah. You know him?"
Andy nodded. "Yeah. Haven't seen him in years, though."
Dean smiled just slightly. "Well, he has this demon-proof panic room of sorts. We can keep Sam in there, get him clean. I'll call him and set it up. Just...don't tell Sammy."
"I won't," Andy shook her head.
THE DRIVE TO BOBBY'S was tense. For most of the ride, nobody spoke. Finally, Sam had had enough. "Alright, let's hear it."
Dean glanced at him. "What?"
"Drop the bomb, man. You saw what I did. Come on, stop the car, take a swing."
"I'm not gonna take a swing," Dean said, his voice tense.
Sam huffed. "Then scream, chew me out!"
Andy frowned, watching the interaction. She wasn't going to come between the brother's issues, she knew all too well what it was like having non-family interject into sibling arguments. That's how people end up with black eyes, especially when her sister is involved.
"I'm not mad, Sam." Dean stared ahead.
"Come on. You're not mad?"
"...no."
"Right." Sam scoffed. "Look, at least let me explain myself."
"Don't," Dean said bluntly. "I don't care."
Sam was taken aback. "You don't care?"
"What do you want me to say, that I'm disappointed?" Dean looked at him with an expression Andy couldn't quite pinpoint. "Yeah, I am. But mostly I'm just tired, man." He paused and returned his eyes to the road. "I'm done. I am just done."
Sam's phone rang. Huffing, he picked it up. "Hey, Bobby. What's going on?"
Dean's eyes flicked back to Andy's and she nodded curtly. Step one of the plan had started. Sam listened for a minute before hanging up.
Dean glanced at him. "What'd he say?"
"Said we gotta haul ass to his place."
"Alright..." Dean nodded and the Impala's engine revved as he sped up.
It didn't take long to get to Bobby's scrapyard. Dean pulled in front of the house and all three of them hurried out of the car. Bobby was waiting for them at the door.
"This way," He said, ushering them inside. They followed him to the basement. "Thanks for shaking tail."
"Yeah, you got it," Dean nodded.
They approached a large metal door. Sam opened it and glanced inside. He looked back at Bobby.
The old man nodded. "Go on inside, there's something I wanna show you."
Sam nodded and walked right in. Andy felt a pang of guilt watching him. "Alright, so uh, what's the big demon problem?" He turned back around to see Andy, Dean, and Bobby hanging back.
Bobby frowned. "You are. This is for your own good." Before Sam could reach them, Bobby slammed the door shut and locked it tight.
"Guys?" Sam walked towards the small gap in the door and looked through. "Guys what-"
His voice was muffled as Bobby shut the gap, too. Sam began banging on the door and yelling.
Andy ran a hand through her hair. "Will he be okay?"
"Yeah," Bobby looked back at her. "Nothing to worry about, kiddo."
She grimaced, unconvinced. "Dean?" She looked at the eldest brother. He stared at the door, frighteningly still.
Her voice snapped him back to reality. He shook his head and turned. "I need a drink."
He brushed past them both and headed upstairs. Bobby frowned and he and Andy followed him. Andy couldn't shake the pit in her stomach as Sam's muffled screams and pleas echoed through Bobby's home.
She sat down and Bobby handed her a glass of whiskey. "Thank you..." She held it in her lap, leg bouncing as she listened to Sam in the basement.
The room fell into uncomfortable silence. Bobby sat at his desk while Dean stood in a corner by himself, his hand tightly clutching his glass.
A ringing phone broke the silence. Bobby patted his pockets down to find his phone. He answered sharply. "I'm busy you son of a bitch. This better be important."
Andy and Dean watched Bobby's face turn white as whoever was on the other end of the line spoke. His eyes shot up to the both of them. The genuine fear in his eyes shocked Andy. Dean and she remained silent until the phone call was done. Bobby's hand was shaking as he put the phone down.
"What is it, Bobby?" Andy asked carefully.
The old man gulped and removed his hat to run a hand over his balding head. "That was Rufus..."
From behind Bobby's desk, his fax machine started up. Bobby stood and quickly grabbed the papers. He looked them over, shaking his head before handing them to Dean. Andy stood from her seat and hurried over to his side.
"The news ain't good," Bobby explained.
Dean and Andy scanned the papers. Dean huffed. "This is what Rufus called about?"
Andy's blood ran cold at the headlines and stories.
"Key West sees ten species go extinct..." Dean read.
Bobby nodded. "Yup. Plus Alaska. Fifteen-man fishing crew all stricken blind, cause unknown. New York, teacher goes postal, locks the door, kills exactly sixty-six kids. All this in a single day."
Andy's stomach flipped. She witnessed horrors every day but that sentence chilled her to the bone. "Shit..." She ran a hand through her hair.
Dean raised a curious brow at her before glancing back up at Bobby.
"There's no doubt about it. They're all seals," Bobby said. "Breaking fast."
"Fuck." Andy breathed.
Dean clenched his jaw. "How many are left?"
Bobby shrugged. "Who knows? Can't be many." He looked between the two of them. "Where the hell are your Angel pals?"
Dean shook his head. "You tell me."
Andy downed the rest of her whiskey and put the glass down with a shaking hand. As Dean turned to storm off, a gust of wind blew through the house.
Andy felt the presence behind her. She turned to see Natalie.
"Nat!" She jumped. "What are you-"
"Where's Cas?" Dean cut Andy off as soon as he caught sight of the fallen Angel.
Natalie crossed her arms over her chest. "Why would I know? Heaven doesn't tell me anything, remember, Winchester?"
Dean clenched his jaw even tighter. "Then why are you here?"
Natalie looked over at Andy. "Because you need help and they won't help you." She pointed upwards.
Dean scoffed. "If you aren't in contact with the man upstairs, then how could you help?"
Andy stepped forward. "Are we really in a position right now to be picky with who offers help? Natalie is still an Angel."
Dean shook his head and bit down on his tongue. Natalie watched him curiously, as did Andy. There seemed to be some inner conflict that none of them were aware of. Dean let out a frustrated huff, downed the rest of his drink, slammed the glass down and stormed out of the house without a word.
"He is...complicated." Natalie thought out loud.
Bobby chuckled bitterly. "That's an oversimplification. He just needs some time."
Andy looked back at Natalie. "Thank you for coming."
Natalie bowed her head with a small smile. "Of course..." She took a deep breath. "I realized I can't sit back any longer. I was scared of Heaven's wrath but with my Grace back...things have changed."
Andy smiled softly. "Good," She patted her shoulder. "No more hiding, okay?"
"No more." Natalie nodded.
"You ladies got that out of your systems?" Bobby's voice cut through. Andy turned to him with a raised brow, eyes flashing a warning. Bobby raised his hands in mock defence. "Just saying, we should get to finding the next seal."
Natalie chuckled softly. "You're right, Bobby Singer."
Bobby eyed her suspiciously. He looked at Andy. "You trust her?"
Andy nodded curtly. "With my life."
