twelve. put on your boots!
chapter twelve,
put on your boots!
SAMIRA WAS ALL DRESSED for the county fair, looking at herself in the mirror. She had on a denim vest, flared jeans, and white cowboy boots. Her hair was still straightened, placing a white cowboy hat over her head. "Sam! Mom wants to know if you're ready." Liam stated, knocking on her door. "Tell her that I'm ready. Let me just get my handbag." She quickly grabbed it, placing it over her shoulder. "Come on, let's go."
The Shetty family walked onto the field, admiring the rides and food stands. "You two have fun, okay? Me and your mom are gonna try out some of the rides." Joe stated as he gently pulled Kamala away. "Kia!" Samira called out, causing the girl to turn around. She engulfed her in a hug, causing her to reciprocate. "Hey, Sami! I was looking for you!"
"You're going to have so much fun today! Come on!" Samira grabbed Kia's hand, leading her to the Ferris Wheel. There was a long line, of course, so they had to wait. "Mira, Kia, hey." Lee greeted as he walked up to them, Issac following behind. "Hi, Lee." Samira stated, giving him a hug. "Peters."
"Garcia." Kia stated with distaste, causing Samira to sigh. "Could you two please get along for once? I tired of hearing you bickering in my ear."
"But he's so-"
"But she's so-"
"No buts. You two are spending the whole day with each other while me and Lee hang out. Now, if you'll excuse us, we'll be on the Ferris Wheel." The two went into the cart, seeing the whole fair from up high. "The view's really nice." Lee stated. "Yeah, it is." she said, looking at him. The boy wrapped an arm around her waist, liking the feeling of her touch. "I missed you."
"But you saw me yesterday, skater boy." Samira teased with a laugh. "I know. Seriously, though, I missed you. You look beautiful by the way. It's gonna take me some time to get used to not seeing you without your curls." She smiled at him, kissing his hand. "Well, if it makes you feel any better, I'm washing my hair in a couple of days. But it's not going to look like how it was before. It takes time for my hair to get back to normal after I straighten it."
"My mom had curls so I get that." Lee stated, causing her eyes to widen. "Really? She did? That's so cute." Samira couldn't help but feel butterflies in her stomach, it had been a while since she felt that way before. Not that she was complaining about it.
She wasn't even thinking about getting him back.
AFTER THE FERRIS WHEEL, Kia really wanted a bear plushie so Issac trying to win it for her. So far he was losing to another duo who also wanted the bear plushie. Lee and Samira were watching, cheering them on. "Come on, Issac! You can do it!" Time was running out as Issac was finally able to get the rings on the bottles before the other duo. "The young man wins!" the operator stated, causing them to cheer.
"Mira, do you want one? I can try and win one for you?" Samira smiled, nodding her head. "I do. The bunny one looks cute." He gently grabbed her hand as he led her to the stand. "Hi, sir. Uh... can I give this a try?"
"Sure. Tickets please." Lee handed him a ticket, taking the rings. "3,2,1... go!" Ring after ring, he managed to get them onto the bottles with ease. "We have a winner. What prize do you want?" Lee pointed to the bunny plushie, carrying it in his arms. "Thank you."
"Wow. Who knew you'd be able to beat your brother?" Samira said with a laugh. "Trust me, there are a lot of things I do better than Issac. For starters, I've got the most amazing girl standing right next to me."
"Oh my gosh, I'm turning you into a sap. I like it." Lee took her hat, causing her to gasp. "Try and get this, Shetty." he teased, running away from her. "Get back here, Garcia. That hat is my favorite!" He ran into a field of flowers, standing in the middle. Samira caught up to him, fixing her hair. "Will you give it back?" she asked. "Hm... do I?" he questioned, wrapping an arm around her waist as he held up her hat. "Yes, you do." He gave her the hat, allowing her to place it on her head. They weren't too far from the fair, seeing it in the distance. The sun was starting to set, the soft rays shining on her as her lips met his.
For that's what she reminded him of.
