there is nothing i do better than revenge.
Mornings were never easy for Evie, at all. She had a hard time even waking up at 10AM, let alone 7:30AM to start getting ready... But, she did it all for her boyfriend.
On May 4, Sirius Black had asked Evie Kaneko on a date. It was a meaningful day to Evie already, because she loved Star Wars and had become obsessed, and Sirius paid attention to that. (Now there were two reasons why she loved that day so much.) From then on, the couple were inseparable. The last month of school, Sirius wasn't seen without Evie and vice versa. They caused chaos together wherever they went, pranking and joking constantly.
Even when they left Hogwarts and went into summer break, the pair stayed in contact almost every day and planned dates every week. Evie had never seen such a change in herself, and her father agreed with this. Sure, Evie was mostly a normal kid, but she had never been so cheerful and upbeat. Sirius had brought out a new side of her, one that she didn't know she really needed until that moment.
She would do almost anything for him... Even waking up at 7:30 in the morning on a random Thursday.
On August 31st at 9:02AM, Evie had just finished applying her lip balm, smiling at herself in the mirror. She took a shower, dried her hair, put her hair up in the rollers, brushed her teeth, and did her makeup to perfection. Now, all that was left to do was pick an outfit.
She wore a white long-sleeve, a black dress over it, black leather jacket on top of that, dark green socks, and some Mary Janes. Lastly, she had a dark green purse to match her socks.
As soon as Evie left her house, she found Sirius waiting by her front gate, leaning against it with a smile. "Hey, Eve, fancy seeing you here."
"What a surprise," She gasped, putting her hand to her chest, "The Sirius Black waiting by my door? It's an honor!"
They laughed as he held out his hand for her to take. She gleefully took it, and they walked down the pavement together. Evie began talking his ear off about how she'd just mastered playing Paranoid by Black Sabbath on her electric guitar, Sirius listening half-heartedly.
"You should totally come hear me play! Ollie's been practicing the drums more, so we sound so good together," Evie's eyes lit up at the topic, continuing on, "I've also been thinking about singing my own songs! Maybe... Maybe I could make you one?"
Sirius' hearing caught that part.
His heart skipped a beat.
"You want to write me a song?" He turned to her with wide eyes, "Why?"
"Well, you're my boyfriend," Evie giggled, "Why wouldn't I want to? Don't you think it'd be cute? Like our own little special song."
Sirius said nothing more, only pursing his lips and leading her to the nearby park as she babbled on about her electric guitar. He guided her by gently pulling on her hand.
"I could definitely perform during Hufflepuff parties — ooh, maybe some other ones, too! And- hey, why'd we stop?"
Sirius sat her down on the bench, pacing back and forth in front of her. Evie's eyes never left his figure, watching him with mild concern until he finally stopped and sighed. "Listen, Eve... I think you're great and all—"
"I think you're great, too," Evie smiled, looking up at him with glimmering eyes. Sirius frowned, knowing what he would say next would break her heart... But he couldn't go on like this any further.
"I just think we jumped into something too serious. You're great! Yeah, you're loads of fun, and you don't take life too seriously, which is really cool — plus, you're bangin'... But I wanna break up."
"What?" Evie whispered, her body deflating with sadness. Immediately, her eyes watered. Oh. He wasn't taking her to the park out on a date — he was taking her out to break up with her.
Sirius exhaled, "I'm not great with commitment, you and I both know that. I think our relationship has run its course. Almost five months, that's a bit long, don't you think?"
Evie sniffled, tears slowly cascading down her cheeks. "Are you being serious right now?"
"Well—"
"Don't you even fucking finish that sentence," She snapped. It was once hilarious to her, him joking about his name. Now, she just wanted to vomit at the thought of him cracking jokes while breaking up with her.
Sirius sighed exasperatedly, "I thought this would be easier, that you'd be more understanding."
"Well, I just don't get it," Evie shouted, her bottom lip wobbling as tears continued to flow, "We're good together! We're happy! Why do you wanna break up? Don't you... Don't you like me?"
Being vulnerable was never easy for Evie. She liked to be happy, to laugh and smile and pretend that nothing was wrong. Really, though, she was incredibly insecure and didn't know if she was even deserving of love. Sirius was just confirming her greatest fear.
It was even worse because Evie was a crier. She cried when a ladybug was killed, she cried when a song had moving lyrics, she cried when her guitar wasn't tuned. Most of those times, she could stop crying within a few minutes... But this? Evie felt like she could cry herself a river and she'd still have more tears to cry.
He rolled his eyes, leaning closer to where she sat. He spoke slowly, as if she was a kid, "Okay, Evie, let's talk this through for a second, yeah? You and I are done. We are now free to date other people, since I am breaking up with you. We don't have to care about each others' feelings anymore, we're nothing to each other now. We can just pretend like we never dated."
Evie held back a sob, her brows upturned as he looked up at what used to be the reason she was happier. "You didn't have to say it like that," Her voice quivered as she wiped away her fallen tears.
Sirius huffed, "Well, how else was I supposed to say it so that it'd click for you? We. Are. Broken. Up. You're free to date whomever you want, as am I. Now, I'll see you at school, yeah?"
And with that, he walked off without another word, leaving Evie crying by herself on the park bench.
Boy, was Evie grateful that no one else was there in that moment. She buried her face in her hands, letting out a heart-wrenching sob with her body trembling.
How could he be so cruel to her? Almost five months of dating, just for it to end like that? Even if he wanted to break up, he could've been more mature about it. Sure, Evie would've been heartbroken, but she would have taken it like a champ and at least keep some shred of dignity by not sobbing in front of him.
She continued to cry until her eyes became puffy and the sky turned cloudy... And Sirius continued to walk home with a heavy heart, wishing he hadn't been so cruel. But he had to protect himself before anything or anyone else.

Evie stormed inside the house, slamming the front door shut with such vigor that her father peeked his head out through the kitchen door.
"Eves, I'm making popcorn, did you want—"
Her bedroom door slammed shut with a loud thud, startling Kenji as he jumped.
Kenji Kaneko sighed heavily, immediately leaving his popcorn and gently knocking on her door. He heard sobs through the wooden door, and without any more hesitation, Kenji used magic to unlock said door and walk in.
"Kkura? What's wrong, my blossom?" Kenji asked his daughter, who was currently burrowed under her covers and crying her eyes out.
"Nothing, Papa," Evie's muffled voice came out, "I'm fine!"
Kenji huffed, "Stop lying, get out of there, and tell me what happened."
Evie groaned, shuffling for a moment before sitting up and throwing her duvet off her. Kenji took in his daughter's appearance; her makeup was smeared, her eyes were puffy and red, and she had a heartbroken expression. His eyes softened as Evie whimpered, "Sirius broke up with me."
"What?" He grit out, his eyes flashing with anger, "Tell me everything."
Evie began to ramble about what happened, "He said he was breaking up with me! He was so rude, so crass, saying that we should pretend like we never dated and we don't care anymore! He just left me at the park while I was crying, Papa!"
Kenji stood up, fury blazing through his eyes, "Where does this kid live? I need to teach him some manners — better yet, beat it into him."
Evie scoffed, wiping her nose with a clean tissue from her bedside table, "I think that's illegal, Papa."
"Do I look like I give a shit?" Kenji grumbled, "He'll get what's coming to him."
"No, no, you shouldn't fight him," Evie sighed, before a lightbulb went off in her head. She mumbled out loud, "But I know a way I can get back at him."
Kenji narrowed his eyes at his daughter, weighing the pros and cons before shrugging, "Whatever you're planning, just make sure it's evil but isn't illegal. Other than that, I love you, Kkura. Please come eat before you start on your evil plan."
Evie nodded absent-mindedly, waving off her father as he kissed the top of her head before leaving.

As soon as Evie finished dinner that night, she sprinted to her room and brought out her Muggle notebook and pen. Immediately, she began to scribble her plan on it, eyes ablaze with anger as she remembered what Sirius had said to her.
HOW TO GET REVENGE ON SIRIUS BLACK:
STEP 1 - pretend as if nothing happened just to mess with his mind! (he will definitely freak out over it)
STEP 2 - flirt with his friends. (he will be even more confused than before and you can throw his nasty words back at him!)
STEP 3 - shag one of his mates and make sure he knows about it. (let him freak out even more. he deserves it.)
STEP 4 - make him grovel for you. he needs to beg for forgiveness.
AND IF YOU'RE FEELING REMORSEFUL OR GUILTY -
remember that he said all those awful things to you and left you in the park, heartbroken. he said to pretend you never dated, and that you didn't have to care about each others' feelings. looking back on it, it seemed like he never listened or cared about what you were saying. you deserve better, evie. you will find better. but before then, get your well-deserved revenge!
