Get In Line.

---
The members had been close since the beginning. They had lived together as soon as they became a band, and have lived together since. They had become a big family in the 11 years they had been together.

But as time went on Jungkook started to notice the members gravitate to others in the group, but less and less towards him. He realized that as they grew up everyone in the group had become super close with the members who shared ages. Without even meaning to or realizing it, Taehyung started spending the majority of his time with Jimin. They'd often go out together without inviting him or have movie nights in their room. Namjoon and Hobi were always together, doing anything and everything. They'd go to museums together and Hobi would take a ton of photos for Namjoon, or they'd spend time hiking or going running. Yoongi and Jin were always found together playing video games or thinking of something new to cook. Sometimes when they played games Jungkook would watch from the background, anytime he asked to play it was always the same answer, "It's only a two player game." He also tried to help them cook in the kitchen, sometimes they'd let him but a lot of times they'd tell him they were all set and he should go hang out.

He didn't know what had made things change. His members used to be almost overbearing with how much time they all wanted to spend with him. He knew he hadn't done anything wrong, it seemed as though the birthday buddies just naturally were pulled towards eachother.

He tried to hide his jealousy. He wished he had someone born the same year as him to hang out with, someone he could treat as an equal rather than a hyung. Taehyung and Jimin were only two years older than him, he wished that could have counted. After all, the three of them did make up the maknae line, Jungkook thought that had to count for something, being in some kind of unit with them.

He'd often ask to hang out with a pair of hyungs when they were together and a lot of times he was brushed off or ignored, as if he had never even asked.

It was beginning to make him frustrated and depressed, feeling like his hyungs didn't care about him the way they used to. He knew they cared about him still, or he at least hoped they did, but he missed when it was obvious simply by the way they acted. Now he was always having to try and convince himself.

They do care, Jungkook.

It was still affecting him though. He began to spend a lot of time alone at home as the others were usually busy in their little pairs. Jungkook tried to talk about it with them once, telling them he was feeling left out, but the members unanimously agreed that that wasn't the case and he was just being over-dramatic and paranoid. He decided there was no point ever bringing it up after that. Although he didn't talk about it to them anymore, his actions were beginning to coincide with how he really felt. Like his members didn't need or want him anymore.

What is the point?

At dance practice Hobi was going over steps, but Jungkook was distracted. Part of him didn't even care to learn. Mainly because like always, the birthday partners were placed as dance units.

"Well who am I supposed to dance with?" Jungkook asked Hobi after the dance leader was done telling the others who their partners would be.

"You'll be solo," Hobi told him.

"But I'm always solo. Why can't someone else be solo for once? How come I never get a dance buddy?"

"Jungkook-ah just listen to Hobi hyung," Taehyung yelled from next to Jimin. Everyone was already together practicing.

"Yes, what Tae said. Now here is what you need to do," Hobi tried showing Jungkook his solo choreography but Jungkook was too angry to repeat his hyung.

"Now you try it," Hobi gestured. Jungkook stood there and crossed his arms, "What if I don't want to?"

"Jungkook, stop acting like a brat. Just listen to him," Jin said sternly.

"I'm not acting like a brat! I want a dance partner for once!"

"I already taught the other units their choreography! You're doing the solo part!" Hobi shouted.

"Well one of them can teach me the partner steps and you can teach someone else the solo part! Why don't you have fuckin Jin or Namjoonie hyung do it for once?! I don't think they've had a solo part since this band even started!"

Yoongi stormed over to Jungkook and pointed his finger at him, "You watch your mouth when you talk to a hyung. You either do the steps he teaches you, or you can sit in the corner like the fuckin baby you're acting like and not dance at all."

Jungkook felt his bottom lip quiver as he silently pushed past Yoongi and Hobi and went and sat in the corner.

"So you're not going to dance at all?" Hobi asked surprised. This behavior wasn't like Jungkook. The maknae shook his head no and then leaned back against the wall and watched the others practice. He tried to hide the fact he was crying and wiping tears from his face with his sleeve. He didn't mean to act like a brat. That was never his intention. He just hated how evident it had become that he was always put last, always the odd man out. BTS had become a puzzle where his piece didn't seem to fit anymore. It also wasn't like him to get yelled at by his hyungs so it threw him off, the fear that they didn't care about him was growing deeper. He watched the rest of the members practice and thought they were all doing a great job. He really liked the dance Jin and Yoongi were doing, he wished he could have at least been a third person in that unit.

Once practice was over the members went home acting as though nothing had happened, they seemed to have moved on from it. Everyone was talking to eachother but Jungkook decided to keep his mouth shut.

When they were home Jin and Yoongi had , as always, began cooking dinner.

"Can I help?" Jungkook asked them.

"We've got it, thanks though," Yoongi replied. Jungkook decided to stick around in the kitchen anyways. Even if they didn't need his help, that didn't change the fact that he still missed being around them and talking to them. Jungkook tried having a conversation with them but most of his comments were ignored as Jin and Yoongi shouted cooking instructions to eachother.

"Jungkook-ah please get out of the way," Jin said when the maknae was in front of a drawer Jin needed to open. It quickly turned into a lot of "Watch out" and "Please move."

"Maknae why don't you go see what Taehyung and Jimin-ah are doing? It'd be easier if you weren't standing here being in the way," Jin suggested. Jungkook's heart sank as he whispered a faint, "Okay."

He dragged his feet to Taehyung's room and stepped in, seeing that Jimin and Taehyung were playing a board game on the floor.

"Can I play?" he asked his hyungs.

"It's two player, so maybe later," Jimin replied. Jungkook stood next to the two sitting on the floor and watched for a bit.

"I liked your dancing today. You guys did a good job," Jungkook told his hyungs in an attempt to start a conversation.

"Thanks, unlike you," Taehyung spat at him. Jungkook stood there silent, that wasn't the response he had been expecting. He tried to change the subject but a lot of his comments went ignored as Jimin and Taehyung kept joking about their game. Jungkook decided to try another way to get their attention and took his foot and kicked all of their game pieces over.

"What the hell did you do that for?!" Jimin screamed at him.

"Because neither of you are listening to me! I'm trying to talk to you! How the hell else am I supposed to get your attention?!"

"By not acting like a dick, first of all! Get out of my room!!" Taehyung screamed at him.

"What if I don't want to? Then what?" Jungkook knew he was testing Taehyung's patience and he didn't want to make his hyungs upset but deep down he just wanted to spend some time with them.

"I'll drag you out if I have to!" Taehyung yelled as he stood up. He pushed Jungkook towards the door, "I said get out!"

"You get out!" Jungkook screamed back.

"This is my room!" Taehyung argued.

"And right now I'm standing in it!"

Jimin came over to Taehyung to help back him up, "Just get out already."

Jungkook took a stuffed animal from Taehyungs bed and threw it at Jimin, "Why don't you fuckin get out? It's not your room either! If you can be in here why can't I?!" Jungkook saw both of his hyungs staring behind him.

He turned around to see Jin standing in the doorway, staring at him. When the hell did he get here?!

"Hyung...I.."

Jin grabbed Jungkook's shirt collar and dragged him out of Taehyungs room. Tears stung his cheeks when he knew now at least three of his hyungs were angry with him.

"I'm really sorry Jin hyung! I didn't mean to be rude but I just wanted to hang out with them but they wouldn't let me!" Jungkook cried as Jin continued to drag him away. Jin's face and ears were both red, he knew his hyung was pissed.

"Hyung please! I'm sorry!"

"Just go to your damn room maknae! Clearly you need some time to yourself!" Jin scolded.

"All I ever get is time to myself! I don't need time to myself! I need time with you guys!" Jungkook screamed through his tears. The fighting between them was getting worse and it seemed to Jungkook that he was the only one that noticed or cared.

"Why would any of us want to spend time with a maknae who does nothing rather than acts like a damn brat all the time? I saw you throw that thing at Jimin. I can see why they didn't want to hang out with you!" Jins anger increased ,"Yah!! Don't you ever disrepect hyungs by throwing something at us! Do you understand me?!"

Jungkook stared at his hyung with silent tears.

"I said," Jin threw his arm in frustration, "DO YOU UNDERSTAND ME?!"

Jungkook flinched back, thinking Jin was about to smack him, but his hyung didn't. He never had. Jungkook was thankful at least the fighting hadn't gotten that far.

"I wasn't going to smack you so stop acting so scared," Jin scolded.

Jungkook stared at the floor and watched tear drops fall into little pools by his feet, after a moment he whispered to his hyung, "That would probably hurt less."

Jin didn't understand what Jungkook meant by that so chose to ignore him. Namjoon and Hobi appeared in the doorway next to Jin, "What's going on?" Hobi asked.

"He needs a break," Jin told him.

"Why?" Namjoon looked between Jungkook and Jin, "What did he do?"

"The acting out! It's been all day! I can't stand it anymore!" Jin screamed.

Hobi pouted, "Hmm..well.." he turned to Jungkook, "Namjoonie and I are going for a quick run before dinner, maybe coming with us will help you a little?" Hobi turned to Jin, "If that's okay with you?"

Jungkook felt his heart do a flip in his chest. For once, in a long time, he was actually being invited to do something with some of them. He stared at Jin pleadingly, all he wanted was company, he wished Jin would see that.

"Please, hyung? Can I go on a run with them?" Jungkook pouted.

"Fine," Jin turned to Namjoon and Hobi, "He can be your problem for a little bit." Jungkook felt his heart ache at his hyungs comment. I'm a problem?

He didn't feel as excited as he did five seconds ago, although he was still grateful he was going to be able to spend some time with his Hobi and Namjoon hyung. He didn't want them to think he was a problem though.

Their house was right in the mountains, so it wasn't a far run to get to some woodsy trails. Jungkook quickly changed into his running clothes and met up with Hobi and Namjoon.

"Be back in an hour, that's when dinner will be ready!" Yoongi yelled after the three as they made their way out the front door.

The three of them began walking to one of the entrance trails, it was already starting to get dark out but that's when Namjoon and Hobi liked to go on their little runs the most, especially in the middle of summer when it was cooler at that time of day.

"Thank you for letting me come," Jungkook said gratefully.

"Uh-huh," Hobi said without even turning to look at him. Hobi and Namjoon had been walking side by side in front of him. He quickly felt like a third wheel but it was still better than being isolated and abandoned in his room. He kept trying to talk to them but Namjoon was too busy admiring nature and telling Hobi to 'look at this' and 'look at that'. Once they made it to the mountain they started to lightly jog. Jungkook was starting to feel lightheaded when he realized he had forgotten to bring his own water.

"Hyungs I'm thirsty," he mentioned. He realized neither of them were paying any attention to him so he said it again, "Hyungs, can I have a sip of your water please?" he was starting to pant.

"Huh?" Namjoon asked.

"Water?"

"I drank all of mine already," Namjoon informed him. Jungkook turned to Hobi, "So did I," his second hyung said.

He felt hurt that neither of them had bothered to ask if he'd like some before finishing theirs. What felt like a million lifetimes ago at this point, the members used to constantly make sure Jungkook was getting enough water, they'd even shove their own water bottles into his mouth during runs and dance practice if they felt he wasn't getting enough.

Jungkook groaned. He was getting really dizzy. He figured it was because of all the crying he'd done that day, all the anger he'd felt, and the fact he couldn't even remember the last time he'd eaten. The members used to always remind him to eat something because he had a tendency to forget.

"Oh," was Jungkook's only response. They jogged a little more before deciding to turn around and head back. Namjoon and Hobi were far ahead of him, he was deciding to take his time. He wasn't exactly in a hurry to get home if he was being honest with himself. He had kept quiet the last half of the walk, so his hyungs weren't looking back paying any attention to him. He decided to let his hyungs get so far ahead of him that they were out of sight. Although it was getting dark, it was peaceful being alone in nature. After a few more minutes had passed, he stood there facing the unexpected.

A fork in the trail. A fork where he could go one of three ways, and he had no idea which direction led back to the house. He hadn't walked this trail before and it wasn't helping that it was almost pitch black out by now.

He panicked .

"Hyungs?!" he screamed as he stood there trying to figure out which direction they had come from. He waited a few seconds but heard nothing in response, "HYUUUUUNGS?!?!?!"

He heard his own voice echo throughout the woods as some birds scattered towards the sky at the sound of his voice.

No no no . Now is not the time to be lost!!!

He felt his pulse start racing as he began to sweat. He was filled with anxiety over worst case scenarios. One of those scenarios included that maybe his hyungs had done this on purpose just to get rid of him, leaving him to die alone in the woods. His breathing picked up as he realized he was getting more and more dizzy the more anxious he got. He wanted to go home. He had no idea how far he even was from home. In his panic he decided to just run down one of the trails as fast as he could and hope it was the right one. As he ran and ran he realized he'd gone the wrong way. It was nighttime now and he couldn't see anything but the stars in the sky. His chest heaved as he gasped for breath and he began to sob. His emotions and his body couldn't handle it anymore, it was all too much for him at one time. He stumbled towards a tree gasping for breath before complete darkness took over his vision as his body dropped to the ground, unconscious.

--

When Namjoon and Hobi made their way into the house, Jin asked "Where's Jungkook?"

The two rappers turned around for a second to check, "Oh, he was right behind us. He'll be here in a minute," Hobi told his hyung.

Jin nodded in response. "Does he have a flashlight?" Yoongi asked.

"No but he has his phone," Namjoon told him. Taehyung and Jimin finally came out of the bedroom complaining that they were hungry. Yoongi told them they needed to wait for Jungkook to get home first.

"Can't we just eat without him? He can eat when he gets back," Jimin pouted.

"No," was all Yoongi said.

"Where is he anyway?" Taehyung asked.

"In the woods, he's coming though he was right behind us," Namjoon told him. The members waited around. After about 20 minutes, some anxiety was starting to fill the room.

"What's taking him so long? I thought you said he was right behind you?" Jin asked Namjoon and Hobi.

"He was...at least we thought he was..." Hobi said with a look of concern.

"What do you mean you thought he was? Did you not see him actually behind you?" Yoongi asked.

Namjoon and Hobi turned to eachother and both shook their heads no.

"Are you saying you don't actually know where he is?!" Yoongi stood up from the chair he'd been sitting in, "You didn't make sure he was with you guys?!"

"He was with us the whole time, he must have gone off on his own when we weren't paying attention!" Namjoon argued .

"You mean Jungkookie is lost somewhere in the woods?" Taehyung pouted at his hyungs. He looked over at Jimin who looked equally concerned.

"That would appear to be the case considering he's not fuckin here! How do you lose an entire person in the woods?! Weren't you talking to him?!" Jin yelled.

"He was being quiet!" Hobi protested.

"Of course, the kids not quiet all damn day and he chooses to be quiet while he's in the damn woods!"Jin yells. Jimin stood up in a panic, "We have to go find him! Who knows what's out there! If he's lost he could get eaten by a bear or something!"

"Maybe he's just acting out again and doing this on purpose," Namjoon suggested.

"He wouldn't do that. He wouldn't put himself in danger just to make us angry," Taehyung told his hyung. They knew Jungkook well enough to know even though he's had some outburts lately, he wouldn't do something so stupid.

"You said he has his phone?"Jin asked. The two rappers nodded. Jin tried calling and it rang and rang before going to voicemail, "Aish".

"Why isn't he picking up?! What if he's dead?!" Taehyung stood up screaming.

"Hey, let's not immediately jump to worse case scenarios. Okay? Maybe he just has bad reception out there. We can find him, I still have his location tracked on my phone," Yoongi opened up an app on his phone he'd added a few years ago. He mainly used it to keep track of the maknae line because it was always those three wandering off getting themselves in trouble together. He clicked on his maknae's icon and it showed his location and it showed that he wasn't moving.

"Let's go, he must know he's lost because he isn't moving. He's probably waiting for us to find him," Yoongi grabbed a handful of flashlights and passed them out to everyone telling them to stick together so nobody else gets lost in the woods at night. Taehyung and Jimin shot Namjoon and Hobi an evil stare, they knew if anything bad happened to Jungkook, they'd be the first to blame.

They wandered through the woods following the map on Yoongi's phone, screaming for Jungkook but getting no response. They were getting more anxious when they could see they were getting closer to him but got no response when they yelled.

"Oh my God! There! Jungkook!" Jimin screamed and took off. The members ran after him, finding their maknae passed out on the ground. They all crouched beside him as Jimin shook him, "Jungkook-ah? Jungkookie??!?" he cried. Taehyung turned to Namjoon and Hobi, "What the hell happened to him?!"

The rappers, and all of them, were crying.

"I don't know! He-he was right behind us!" Hobi yelled. Jin and Yoongi tried patting Jungkook's face to wake him up but it was useless. Namjoon checked his maknae's pulse, thanking his lucky stars that his maknae still had one. They checked his breathing and it seemed normal and they couldn't find any physical evidence of injuries. Namjoon picked Jungkook up after multiple failed attempts of waking him up, "Let's get him home."

They made their way back with what seemed like a lifeless maknae. Taehyung kept putting his finger under Jungkook's nose to make sure breath was still coming out of him. Namjoon placed him on the couch and covered him up with blankets. Yoongi grabbed a wet wash cloth and put it on his maknae's forehead. Hobi took the water bottle and poured a small amount into Jungkook's mouth. They sat around him crying and begging him to wake up. If he didn't wake up soon they'd have to call an ambulance, as per Hobi's orders.

Thankfully, about 10 minutes later, Jungkook finally started to stir awake. His eyes slowly opened and the very first thing he saw was all six of his hyungs hovering right over his face crying.

"Oh thank God!"

"Finally!"

"HE'S ALIVE!"

"What happened?" Jungkook asked confused as he looked up from the couch.

"This bimbo lost you in the woods!" Hobi said while nudging Namjoon.

"Excuse me but you're the oldest of the three of us! Technically you're responsible for both of us! So technically, YOU lost him in the woods!" Namjoon argued back. He felt Taehyung running his hands through his hair. He couldn't help but crack a smile seeing Namjoon and Hobi argue. For once it wasn't him they were arguing with. He remembered getting lost and passing out. He didn't expect his hyungs to actually notice him missing, let alone go out and look for him until he was found and brought home. He felt tears slip out of the corners of his eyes.

"What happened to you?" Jin asked. Jungkook explained how he'd panicked when he realized he was lost and his body kind of just gave out on him.

"Are you hurt?" Yoongi asked concerned.

"No," Jungkook whispered wiping his tears.

"Never get lost again maknae! I thought you could have been dead!" Jimin scolded.

"Jungkook-ah why didn't you stay with us? How did you get lost?" Hobi asked gently.

"I..you weren't paying attention to me anyways so I thought I should just walk on my own. I didn't think you'd care, or even notice."

All of the hyungs felt a big weight on their chest.

"Why on earth would you think we wouldn't care?" Jin asked.

Jungkook slowly started talking about his feelings again. About how he only acted out because nobody ever wanted to do anything with him and he was lonely and missed them, and how he just wanted their attention. He pointed out multiple examples of how he'd been treated and by the time he was done all of his hyungs were in tears all over again. They went on and on and on about how they didn't realize they were being such shitty hyungs to him and they didn't realize how badly he was feeling. They told him over and over how much they loved and cared about him.

"Please, if there is anything we can do to say we're sorry, if there's anything we can do to apologize.." Jimin asked.

"There is one thing."

His hyungs stared at him, waiting.

"Please just hang out and spend more time with me."

All of the hyungs agreed that they would. Jungkook couldn't hold back a beaming smile when he looked around and saw his hyungs all begin to argue with eachother .

Arguing about who gets to spend time with Jungkook first.
