Chapter 21 - Truth or Dare

I woke up a couple hours later. Dan looked incredibly annoyed. I smiled sleepily. "Sorry," I said. He rolled his eyes.

Getting up, I sat on Phil. He was asleep, but since I was awake no one else could be sleeping. "Wha...?" Phil trailed off, sleepily looking at me. I grinned. "Hi Phil." He groaned and turned over. "Wake up," I whined, shaking his shoulder. Finally, he opened his blue eyes. "What is it?" he asked. I chuckled, getting up. "I just wanted you to get up so we could play something. Or something," I said. Phil rolled his eyes.

Later, Dan, Phil, and I were all attempting to play some games on our phones, but there was a very weak signal. "Oh come on!" Dan exclaimed for the tenth time. "We couldn't have gotten a bus with better wifi?" he cried, glaring at Phil. "I'm sorry! I thought you could read or do something productive," Phil said, shrugging. My eyes flickered between the two of them, amused. Dan scoffed, plopping back down on the seat. Triumphant, Phil sat down as well. "Why don't we play truth or dare?" I suggested, trying to ease the tension. "Ok."

Five minutes later, we were all siting in more of a circle with two bowls. One was filled with tiny scraps of paper with "TRUTH" written on the back. The other was filled with paper that said "DARE". One of us would ask the familiar question. Depending on their answer, they would draw from a bowl and read the paper. Then, they would do it. Simple. Or so we thought.

The bus kept bouncing on little bumps in the road, sending the papers fluttering down around us. Then, sighing, we would pick them all back up again, sorting them into their respective bowls, just to have the bus bounce again and all our work erased. It was very tedious. Finally, the road smoothed out and we were able to play.

"Aurora. Truth or dare?" Phil asked me. I wasn't good with dares, so I went with the other. I drew the paper and read it. "Tell us one of your secrets," I read aloud. I gulped, eyeing them. Dan and Phil were watching me, curious. "Um... I used to live in Florida," I offered. Dan raised his eyebrow, but he didn't push me. I knew that wasn't much of a secret, but I had been sworn to secrecy by the angels-but-not-angels and I'm pretty sure giving anything else away would violate that.

Soon, night fell, and we went to sleep.
