Chapter 5 - The Journey
I awoke the next morning to Dan standing in the doorway. "Were you watching me sleep?" I asked suspiciously. Dan jumped, and laughed nervously. "Uh... no," he said. I laughed. "BOO!" yelled a voice from behind me. I jumped a mile (oh sorry, a kilometer), screamed, and fell of the bed. Dan was laughing his head off. Phil was staring down at me, laughing too. "I will kill you all," I said. This made them laugh even more. I stood up in a huff. "Can you please get out? I'm trying to get dressed," I said. Still chuckling, Dan and Phil left the room. I got dressed in my new clothing and bounced out of my room.
Dan had his suitcase open in the middle of the floor, and was pouring over his entire wardrobe, which seemed to be laid out next to him. I almost tripped. "Maybe you shouldn't pack in the middle of the floor, Dan. Phil's gonna trip and hit his head. He'll die, and it would all be your fault," I said. He looked up, smiled, and looked back at his clothing. I made huge exaggerated steps over him and continued to the breakfast table.
SEVERAL HOURS LATER
I had my suitcase packed, my hoodie on, and my phone charged. It was time. Dan, Phil, and I were all in a taxi to the airport. I was singing and doing a stupid dance in my seat while Dan sat looking really grumpy next to me. Miraculously, Phil was managing to read. "We're going to Florida! We're going to Florida!" I sang. "Aurora's singing," Dan said suddenly. I looked over. He was pointing a camera at me. "You've been recording me this whole time?" I exclaimed. He chortled. "Yep." I put my hand forward, covering the lens. "I hate you," I said. Dan moved my hand away. "Hey, I took you in when you were all alone. You should be grateful," he said. I glared at him. Dan then pointed the camera at Phil. "Phil's being a nerd and reading a book," he said. "It's good!" Phil protested suddenly. I laughed.
About ten minutes later, we had arrived at the airport. "We're here!" I cried, and literally leaped out of the taxi. Phil rested his hand on my shoulder. "Calm down, sweetie. We still have to go through security, get our tickets, and get food," he said in a mock sweet voice. I shoved him playfully. Together, we linked arms and skipped merrily into the airport. People stared as we walked by, but we didn't care. Laughing, we stopped after five minutes. Dan and Phil got stopped multiple times by their fans. A few times, they thought I was their lady friend. "Is this your girlfriend, Dan?" one of them asked, sounding strangely disappointed. I pretended to be offended. "Girlfriend? Him? No, I would never date him. Phil is my man," I said, linking arms with Phil and resting my head in the crook of his neck. The fan looked horrified and exchanged glances between me and Dan. Phil looked surprised, but caught on quickly. Dan was looking perplexed. After a minute of awkward silence, I burst out laughing. "No, I'm not dating either of them. We're just really good friends," I said lightly. The fan looked relieved, and we continued on.
As we sat in the plane, I was getting tired. Dan was next to me on my right side, and Phil was on my other side. I felt my head drooping, and I fell asleep against Dan's shoulder. I woke up about three hours later. Dan was smiling slightly at me. "You fell asleep," he said gently. "Oh," I said. We had a few more hours left. The flight attendant came by with drinks. I grabbed a Coke. I sipped it slowly, gazing passed Dan out the window. I decided to watch YouTube. Since Phil had said they were YouTubers, I checked out their channels. "What's your channel?" I asked Dan. He looked at me, frowned, and said, "Why?" I sighed. "Well, Phil had said you were YouTubers, so I want to watch your videos. What's your channel?" I repeated. "Danisnotonfire," Dan said. I searched it. It came up. "Aww, it's you!" I said, pointing at his profile picture. "Shut up," he mumbled. I giggled and watched his videos.
I lost track of time, and I was still watching Dan's videos when the pilot came on the intercom. "We will be landing in 20 minutes. Please turn off all electronics," he said. I did, and just watched Phil read his book for a while. The plane landed, and I waited for Dan and Phil. When they finally emerged from the plane, I said, "What took you so long?" I was literally the first one out of the plane. They smiled and didn't say anything. We had taken a night flight, so it was morning in America. Together, we walked along. "Ok, so we've got to find someone who has a sign that reads 'Howell & Lester'. Do you see anyone?" Dan said as he stared at his phone. I yanked him out of the way as he was about to run into someone. "Dan, you should really pay attention," I said. He looked up, shrugged, and looked back at his phone. "There!" Phil suddenly said. I followed his finger, and sure enough, a man in a black tuxedo and sunglasses was holding up a sign that read "Howell & Lester". I grabbed both of their hands, and squealed, "Let's go!"
I ran toward the man, pulling Dan and Phil along with me. When we got close to the man, he said, "Howell and Lester?" Dan and Phil nodded. He nodded, and walked away. We followed him. He led us to a long, black limousine. I gasped when I saw it. "We have a limo?" I said. Dan was awestruck, too. "I guess so," Phil said. We all piled in the back. I was, once again, sandwiched between Dan and Phil. We all ate the many snacks they had in the back of the limo. I was hyper on sugar by the time we arrived at the hotel. The man held the door open for us. We walked inside. "Hello. This is Dan Howell, Phil Lester, and Aurora Rickburg (I'm really regretting this last name). We're here to check in," Dan said. The woman looked at her computer, and said, "Yes, Howell and Lester. You're room 216." She handed us a card. I was literally jumping up and down with excitement. Phil frowned. "We only have one room?" he asked. The woman looked at her computer again. "You're only put down for one. Have a nice day," she said.
We uncertainly walked up the steps to our room. When we opened it, I gasped. It was beautiful. There was a single king bed in the center. On either side was a nightstand. Right in front of the bed, there was a large wardrobe with a giant TV resting on top of it. There was a huge bay window on the far wall. When I got closer, I realized that it was also a door to a balcony. The balcony had a breath-taking view of the distant Disney World. When I turned back around, Dan and Phil were frowning at the bed. "What's wrong?" I asked. "There's only one bed," Dan said. Realization dawned on me. "Oh," I said. I laughed nervously. "I guess we'll have to sleep together. That sounded wrong. You know what I mean," I said awkwardly. They nodded. We continued unpacking like nothing was wrong. "We are going to stay in Florida for five days. Then, we leave for L.A.," Dan said. I grinned. This was going to be one eventful time.
