19."Hey, thanks for breaking my ribcage."

Cadence.

I stepped out of the luxourious car Hugo had sent for me and one of the servants hastily came forward taking my suitcase from hand.

I had expected Hugo to show up, but he had left me disappointed. Why was he busy on a Sunday morning? It was one of the many questions I had about him.

"You must be Miss Sparks. I'm Henry, the head butler of the Collins Mansion." He proudly said shaking my hand with a firm grip. I smiled back at him.

Henry was that type of a butler who you read about in detective novels. Tall with broad shoulders but still didn't look strong because of his age.

I followed him into the mansion. The last time I had come here was when Hannah apparently had threw a tantrum and nobody was able to control or calm her so Hugo had to rush back here like a madman.

At that time I could only catch a glimpse of this mansion, but today was different. I was going to live here from now on.

As we proceeded farther into the mansion through an enormous lobby I was trying to soak in the beauty of the one and only mansion which existed in our town.

"This will be your room." My head snapped at Henry when he spoke as I was too busy ogling at the maghony colored walls and huge rare paintings that decorated the wall. Yeah, I was an aesthetes.

I peeked in through the door Henry had held open for me. The guy who was carrying my suitcase all this time muttered something under his breath and pushed passed me into the room putting the suitcase near the bed and after bowing to me and Henry he disappeared back into the hallway.

"Pardon me Miss Sparks I have an important task I must do before the young master come back. I shall take your leave." Henry politely bowed to me before disappearing behind the door.

Before I could examine my new room my eyes landed on the small baclony which was attached to it. I opened the door lengthed windows and let the wind blow in, messing with the white curtains and my hair. I stepped into it had and a breathtaking view greeted me.

The Collins Mansion was at the farthest south of this town nestled between the town and the huge forest from behind which was owned by the Collins. It was as if I was somewhere for a vacation or something.

A loud shriek escaped my mouth as someone tapped on my shoulder out of nowhere. As a reflex I elbowed the mystery person hard into the stomach and heard a familiar grunt.

"Hey, thanks for breaking my ribcage." Hugo muttered gritting his teeth. He was clenching onto his suit, making painful faces.

"Really? I was aiming for the stomach, though." I glanced at my elbow disappointed in my own skills.

"Oh really? Better luck next time then." He bitterly said before straightened up walking up to the chair in front of the desk and pulling it out harshly. After making himself situated on the chair he expectantly looked up at me.

"I'm sorry okay? Why can't you take a joke?" I plopped down on the huge bed and stared back at him.

"Next time make sure you don't joke around about physical damage and we'll be fine." He sternly said taking out a piece of folded paper and handed over to me.

"What's this?" I opened it up to find it filled with a methodically written schedule.

"It's going to be your schedule in this house for the rest of this year. I've adjusted it according to your school schedule." He monotonously added as if he was not saying it to a fellow student but to his subordinate.

"You know it's creepy that you know my schedule even though you've never asked me in person?" I gave him a disgusted look because it really was creepy as hell. First he knew I needed a job without actually talking to me about it and now this.

"That's how I work. You better get used to it." He said before roughly getting up from his seat. "I'll see you in about two hours in Hannah's room." He instructed before storming out of the room. Geez what'was up with him today? Did my elbow hit him that badly?

Exactly after two hours I was in front of Hannah's room which was just beside mine and next to it was Hugo's room. I tucked a few hair strands behind my ear and knocked on the door.

It was opened from inside gently by a maid. "Oh you must be Miss Sparks, please do come in." I wished they would just call me Cadence.

I tiptoed into the room which was dimly lit. All the curtains were closed off shielding everyone in the room from strong sunrays. Hannah was lying on her bed staring emptily at the fan hung on the ceiling above.

"Hey." I spoke but for some reason my tone was lowered.

After a second her eyes darted over to me and something changed in her bored eyes. "CADIE!"

She jumped from her bed and ran towards me jumping into my arms. "Wait-" I reacted a bit later and both of us landed on the floor below with a loud thud.

Hannah acted like a five-year-old child but in reality she was just two years younger than me so it wasn't so cute when she decided to jump into my arms to hug me.

"Ow!" I yelped, feeling her body weight resting on my stomach.

Hannah, on the other hand, was, giggling.

"Hannah!" I cried in the fear that I might lose my intestine forever.

"Hannah!" Exclaimed another voice and both of us looked up at him.

Hugo wasn't impressed with the situation as his eyes were squinted and the big vein on his forehead looked like it was about to pop up.

"Sorry." Hannah mumbled in a bore tone, getting up and giving me the ability to breathe again.

"How many times have I told you not to jump on people?" Hugo continued.

"I don't know." Hannah shrugged.

"Hannah-" Hugo was cut off right before he looked like he could tear someone's head off.

"Pardon me, young master. I'm here to give you a message from your father." Henry, the head butler, spoke with the utmost politeness in his voice.

"Wait outside." Hugo signalled him and turned his eyes back on Hannah. "This isn't over."

After he left the room Hannah and I stared at each other for a moment before the room was exploded with laughter. "But Hannah, I don't think you should jump on people either." I said rubbing my stomach where it still hurt.

"But I love jumping!" She whined giving me the puppy dog eyes look.

"You can jump honey just don't do it on others. Jump on the stairs or street or at the playground." I explained.

She pouted and said nothing for a while and then suddenly as if she remembered something she ran off to the side of her bed and pulled out a small pink teddy bear out of the huge pile of stuff toys.

"I want you to meet Lynnie." She handed me the bear. "She's the first one who became my friend."

"Really? That's sweet. Hi Lynnie." I couldn't stop help but giggle as I talked to a toy.

"I'm sorry for that." Hugo appeared out of nowhere from behind. I didn't even hear the door unlocking. What is he, a cat?

"Hi." I put down the teddy I was holding.

Thankfully he pretended that he didn't just see me talking to a toy and sat on the edge of the bed facing us.

"Hannah," He began. "You can't act like that with Cadence. She has come here for you."

"For me? Like those other bad girls?" Her face fell all of a sudden. "They hurt me."

"I know honey, that's why I made them go away right?" Hugo's anger had evaporated as he watched his sister.

Hannah looked at me. "Are you going to hurt me too?" Her eyes were so scared it made me wonder what those awful caretakers did to her.

"No, Never." I smiled at her.

Her eyes darted between Hugo and me. She questioned him with her eyes as if asking can I trust her? And he smiled in the warmest way I'd seen a person smiling.

At that moment her expression changed. Pushing the floor quickly with her legs she lunged at Hugo and buried her face into his chest. "Pinky swear?" She stretched out her hand at me with her Pinky pointing towards me.

I held it gently with mine."Pinky swear."
