1. Taking Off The Wheels

Charming knew what he was. He knew that he was a bunny turned man, but he also knew that he was a set of training wheels for Ame as she started off in the dating world again.

Yes, in many ways, he was like a set of training wheels. Like training wheels, he was there for her ease of mind.

"Charming! I can't find my shoes."

Mouth full of popcorn, he turned to look at her from where he was seated on the apartment couch binge watching TLC shows.

"And you think I know?"

"You always had a knack for finding Taehyung photos."

"Those aren't similar or comparable at all."

"Just please help me. I'm gonna be late to go meet up with Jungkook."

Swallowing the mouthful of popcorn, he put the bowl aside and walked over to where Ame was standing. She was searching through the shoes near the apartment front door, tossing them every which way.

"Why can't you wear one of those other pair of sneakers you're throwing around?"

"Because they don't match the outfit."

"Ame, no offense, but when has that mattered to you?"

"Rude! You've been hanging around Freddi too much."

Charming sighed as he watched the shoes being discarded. Some of them flying from her hand and hitting the wall behind the couch leading to the bedrooms.

"What pair are you looking for?"

"The red ones with the black bows on the toes."

"You keep those in the closet in your bedroom," said Charming. "Remember?"

"Oh?"

Ame paused when she heard that. She immediately began to walk back to her bedroom. Charming watched her disappear into the bedroom before reemerging with the shoes.

"I feel foolish now."

"Well you looked foolish."

"Seriously, you need to stay away from Freddi for a bit," said Ame as Charming chuckled.

"I think you need to stress less," said Charming.

"That's why I have you though. You ease my mind so completely," said Ame.

"Thanks? I think?"

Ame chuckled, giving Charming a quick hug before slipping out the door to go meet up with Jungkook.

Training wheels were also there for emergencies. If there was ever a moment where the rider was afraid of falling off balance, the training wheels ensured that the rider didn't fall.

- - -

"I HATE that man!"

Charming was lying on his futon bed by the window when the door to the apartment flew open. This was supposed to have been a joyous night. It was Ame and Jungkook's three month anniversary, but it was clear that Ame was beyond ticked off. He watched her stalk towards the kitchen, loudly throwing open the fridge and clinking around inside. He cautiously got up and moved to walk towards the kitchen. He leaned in the doorway to the kitchen, watching as Ame dug out a soda bottle, slamming it with force onto the counter.

"What's going on?" asked Charming.

"Jungkook totally ghosted me! On our three month anniversary!"

"He turned into a ghost?"

"No! But he will next time I see him because he's DEAD!"

Charming watched as Ame dug a glass down from the cupboard before violently uncapping the soda and pouring herself a glass. Charming watched the bubbles fizz and hiss in the glass before she put it to her mouth.

"Are you sure it wasn't some sort of misunderstanding?"

"I'm sure. People suck, Charming."

He moved to walk over to her as he saw her put the glass back down, her shoulders slumped forward. He could hear a sob leaving her mouth soon after followed by the shaking of her shoulders. He gently placed his hands on either side of her shoulders, turning her around to hug her gently to his chest. Soon Ame was clutching at his shirt and sobbing hard into his shirt. He placed a hand on her back, rubbing it gently as he leaned his cheek against the top of her head.

"I'm sure it was a misunderstanding," he said. "Jungkook loves you. Do you not remember what you two have been through?"

Ame wasn't going to be reasoned with right now, and Charming knew that. He kept her held tightly to his chest for a moment or two.

"I know...I know he loves me, but he's also a jerk."

"I'm sure he will be able to explain it," said Charming softly. "Maybe he had an emergency."

"On our three month anniversary?"

"Can we schedule emergencies?" He asked in rebuttal, causing Ame to laugh weakly.

"Well, at least - speaking of emergencies - I have you when they happen."

"Always, Ame."

- - -

However - much of the time - the importance of the training wheels was forgotten little by little. The rider tended to gain the confidence necessary as the time to take them off comes closer.

- - -

"Charming, look at it! Isn't it gorgeous?"

Charming looked at the engagement ring that was on Ame's hand as she showed him; a beaming smile on her face.

"It's perfect," he said as he looked at Ame.

"And he proposed to me in the most romantic way."

"Don't have me guess because I won't be able to," said Charming.

Ame chuckled as she threw herself on her back on Charming's futon. Charming turned his head to look at her.

"He proposed to me in the park," she said. "Where we first met and then met again."

Charming didn't say anything. The park held memories for him too after all. He watched the joy radiate off Ame as she held her hand up above her head to admire the ring again.

"He told me how he always loved me, and how everything we went through these last few months has just made his love for me stronger. He told me he was tired of spending life without me. He didn't care how the world viewed us."

"All sweet things to say," said Charming understandingly.

"And then he just dropped down onto one knee and pulled the ring box out..."

Charming smiled softly.

"I'm happy for you, Ame," said Charming. "You deserve to be loved."

Ame turned her eyes from the ring she was admiring to look at Charming.

"This is all thanks to you, Charming," said Ame. "Thank you for everything you've done."

Charming's smile grew a bit wider as he nodded his head.

"I would be a horrible person if I kept you from your person," said Charming

'Even though I wanted you for myself,' he thought as she sat up again, hugging him tightly. He hugged her back.

- - -

There came a time where the training wheels that were relied on for so long were no longer needed, and the training wheels were left to wonder what their next use would be.

- - -

Charming sat on the couch as Jungkook and Ame stood in front of him. They had been happily engaged for the last two and a half months, and were heavily in the midsts of planning their wedding. That afternoon when Jungkook had come over for a visit, they had said they wanted to talk to Charming. He wondered if it had something to do with the wedding planning.

"Charming," started Jungkook before pausing. He looked over at Ame who was unable to make any sort of eye contact with Charming.

Charming looked from Jungkook to Ame. Why wouldn't she look at him?

"What is going on?" asked Charming.

Jungkook looked from Ame back to Charming.

"Charming, we have set our wedding date. It's exactly 90 days from now."

"That's awesome!" said Charming with a smile on his face. He soon paused when he saw that neither of them were smiling. Why weren't they smiling too?

"By the time we get married, we both need you to move out of the apartment," said Jungkook. "So essentially you have 90 days to find somewhere else to go."

"You're kicking me out?"

It was then that Ame looked at Charming.

"We're not kicking you out of our life, but we're going to be wanting to settle into ours, and having you here will...complicate things."

"So I have 90 days until you want me out..." said Charming.

- - -

Whatever the purpose these training wheels had next, they had 90 days to figure it out.
