7. Day Four- Date Night Prep

Tiffany's date night was a full on affair amongst the other four. They all fussed over Charming as if he were going to his first day of Kindergarten. All of them took turns doing their own checks over his apparel. The suit they had gotten him was something they had specially tailored for him. As Charming stood in the bathroom, he watched as Jungkook helped him button up his white dress shirt before handing him the navy suit jacket that went with it.

"You've come a long way from the days you spat in my face when I buttoned your shirt, or when you'd flash your chest to an an entire department store because you couldn't get your shirt on," said Jungkook as Charming smirked.

"I should hope I would have," said Charming. "I've been trying to become more human over the last year."

"Just don't lose you," said Jungkook.

"Should I be hopping about then and trying to twitch my ears?" asked Charming as Jungkook rolled his eyes, moving to leave the bathroom.

"That's not what I meant. You're hopeless."

"What about carrots? Should I go on a carrot diet?" called out Charming after Jungkook; a chuckle leaving his lips as the other disappeared.

Charming stared at his reflection in the mirror after. He felt as if he were going to be sick. The only women that he had ever talked to were Ame, Ruby, and Freddi. What if this Tiffany that he arranged a date with - his first date ever - ended up hating his guts?

"Come on Charming," he said as he talked to himself in the mirror. "Learn how to smooth talk like the Duke."

His attention was jerked away from the mirror when he heard a knock at the bathroom doorway. Turning he saw Ame standing there.

"You clean up nice."

"Thanks," he said with a smile.

"You look a bit green though."

Charming's attention immediately turned back to the mirror at Ame's comment; his eyes scanning his reflection again for any trace of green coloring on his skin. Ame laughed as she entered the bathroom, coming over to put a hand on Charming's shoulder.

"I didn't mean literally," she said. "It's an expression."

"That's one thing I haven't gotten used to yet," said Charming. "Like when Freddi told me it was raining cats and dogs, I literally thought that I could go outside and find a pet."

"You silly bunny man..." she whispered as she looked at him.

He smiled softly as he turned his head to the side to look at her. When he did, she could see the fear that was glowing in his eyes.

"What if Tiffany doesn't like me?" he asked.

"Then she's stupid, and she's not the one. If it isn't this Tiffany, there are plenty of other fish in the sea."

"Ame, I know there are fish in the sea. What does that have to do with anything?"

She chuckled before saying, "We really do need to teach you expressions."

Ame moved to hug him after; Charming moving to hug her back.

"You don't have to do this if you're not ready, Charming..." whispered Ame into his shoulder.

"If I'm honest Ame, I'll never be ready," whispered Charming in response. "I need to do this to get out of my comfort zone, or I'll never do it."

Ame nodded, hugging Charming tighter for a moment more before letting him go.

"Things will go alright tonight," said Ame as Charming looked at her, nodding his head.

Ame moved to leave Charming alone in the bathroom and went back out into the kitchen where the rest of them were assembled. She quirked a brow when she saw the box that was situated in the center of the table.

"What's that?" she asked.

"Taehyung here thinks it would be wise if one of us shadows Charming on his first date to be there in case something goes wrong," explained Ruby.

"I've volunteered to go," said Taehyung, "Since I know a thing or two about chaperoning in the past."

Jungkook smirked, casting his eyes up to the ceiling.

"Yes. You were a wonderful chaperone," said Jungkook sarcastically. "I always had fun trying to ditch you."

"Well Charming will be more accommodating than you," said Taehyung. "And he won't even know I'm there."

"I don't know...shouldn't we at least tell him?" asked Ame.

"And freak him out more?" asked Taehyung shaking his head. "No. Leave it up to secret agent..."

"What are you all talking about?"

The talking stopped when they all heard Charming's voice ask the question. Ruby quickly covered the box in the center of the table with a kitchen towel.

"About your date," said Ruby honestly as she quickly moved over to Charming. "Look how much you've grown."

Ruby started to pinch Charming's cheeks, and he immediately batted her hands away.

"Stop it," he said with a chuckle. "You're just as bad as the rest."

Ruby chuckled as she looked adoringly at Charming before he moved to grab his cell phone off the counter by the front door. He clicked it on to check the time, feeling the panic set in again when he saw it was almost time.

"You're about to make Tiffany the luckiest woman on earth," said Ruby. "Now go out there and charm her in the way that only you can."

"You've got this," added Taehyung.

Charming nodded his head quickly a couple of times before pocketing his phone.

"I have an Uber waiting outside for you," said Jungkook. "Good luck Charming."

"Thank you all for believing in me. Here it goes," said Charming, trying to muster up the courage he would need.

Charming looked at his family one last time before moving to leave the apartment. Only a minute or two after Charming had left, Taehyung dealt out the equipment so the three of them could be in touch with him.

"Chaperone Tae is out!" he said after as he put an earbud in his ear, pumping a fist into the air as he left the apartment to follow after Charming.

"I don't have a good feeling about this," said Ame as she looked over at Jungkook, watching the door to the apartment shut. "Can't you use some of your magic?"

"Unfortunately that won't work this time even if I still had magic," said Jungkook. "We're just going to have to wait for whatever will happen."
