Chris' POV:

I was pulling myself onto an abandoned beach, my golden-orange tail flopping as I was attempting to get on the sand. My mid-back-length straight blonde hair with pink highlights dripped puddles of water onto the sand.

Then someone grabbed ahold of my wet hand and began to pull me. I looked up to see a girl who looked my age, 18. She had wavy blonde hair and blue eyes that told me 'do not mess with her'. "What are you doing?," I ask curiously.

"Helping you. I'm Rikki, and-"

Then she fell to the ground and a tail matching mine was revealed. Rikki sighed. "Why does this always happen?"

" What do you mean? Can't you turn invisible?"

"What do you mean? That's not a power I have...none of us. How do you have it?!"

"I was born a mermaid, and this is my first time on land. I snuck away from home. I don't like being all royal. It's not as glamorous as it seems."

I grabbed the moon ring off my finger. And imagined me with human legs.

Thirty seconds later I look back and it had worked.

Then I noticed Rikki was staring at me in awe. She ended the silence, "How did you do that?"

"Ummm....I earned my moon ring."

"What is a moon ring?"

" I'll explain it later if I see you again, Rikki." Then I realized I never introduced myself. "I'm Chris by the way."

Rikki offered me a hand and helped me up. I tried to walk ten minutes before Rikki finally saw I was getting more successful. Then Rikki left to grab clothes from her house, while I waited here.

Half an hour later she returned. I put on the black 't shirt' and the blue 'shorts' with some rips. She then handed me a pair of what she called 'sneakers' that were black and white. We walked to her house. As we did so she turned to me, "Chris, when you ran off did you plan on where you were going to stay?"

I sighed," No."

Immediately she stopped and called a group of people. Half an hour later we met with some of her friends at a place called the JuiceNet.

Rikki asked a brown haired girl, "Cleo do you have space for Chris to stay in?" She pointed at me while saying my name.

The girl called Cleo said, "No. I wish I did."

Rikki then turned towards a girl with honey blonde hair and blue eyes that seemed to say 'I can't wait to meet you'.

" You, Bella?"

"No, my parents have no spa-"

But then the waiter came with our smoothies, Cranberry boosters. She places them onto the table. As she was leaving mine began to tilt and spill all over me. The girls just looked at me like I was crazy and Rikki came over and grabbed me and pulled me towards the bathroom.

Once I was in the bathroom I whisper yelled.

" What was that for?!"

But then I flopped onto the floor revealing my tail. I looked at her and asked," Is this what happens every time you touch water?"

"Yes and now it's the same for you."

" I'm sorry I yelled. I didn't know Rikki."

" Chris, do you have heating powers?"

"Yeah, why?"

"Use them to dry yourself, that's what I did earlier. But it was while you were forming your legs."

I then clenched my fist, not many moments later my 'legs' were back and so was my clothes and my hair was dry. Rikki led me out of the girls' bathroom.

After ten minutes no one had a place I could stay accept Rikki. I was going to live at Rikki's as long as I was on what people here call 'The Gold Coast'. I had no clothes so Rikki and I were going to share hers. Later that night Rikki showed me to her room, where I would sleep. Then I layed down and sleep crept into me. I was out cold.

Rikki's POV:

So many questions are going through my mind. Why did Chris run away from home? How is she royal? Can she teach Cleo, Bella and I something? I let my mind drift away in thought until I fell fast asleep.

Chris' POV:

I woke up to and went to the 'closet'. I grabbed out a red t shirt with a few cuts in the back, a light red tank top, light blue shorts with a few cuts in them along the edges, and the sneakers I wore yesterday.

I go to the bathroom and see a comb and grab the black comb. I begin to comb my hair. I walk onto the sidewalk and smell the air, it smells moist and wet, it is going to rain.

I walked inside and went to the kitchen to grab some water. There was a note on the jug. I pulled it off then read:

Dear Chris,

Meet me and the girls at the house at noon. Until then keep yourself busy. Me and the girls are going shopping for something. Anyway, you can go make friends until noon if you want.

I walked outside and ran down the street towards the dock. I dived into the water without any hesitation and sped away from the pier.

Rikki's POV:

Cleo was rambling on about Lewis as we entered the clothing store. Time for a shopping spree-for Chris.

Chris' POV:

I am swimming with a dolphin speaking next to me. Since I'm a natural born mermaid, I can speak fluent dolphin, along with every language in the world. Royal requirements, at the thought I sigh.

The dolphin tells me that I should swim with him somewhere. In dolphin I respond saying I'd love too, Rigal. Even though something in my gut was telling me I shouldn't go. I shrugged it off, maybe I shouldn't of.
