Chapter 24. Surprise Bitch
"So, let me get this straight... you're willingly enlisting Scott's help, when not even ten minutes ago you were telling me that you weren't ready to forgive him?" I asked Stiles as he pulled into my driveway.
Due to me driving to the hospital I had to drive back to my house separate from him, after he saw the footage he told me that we needed to get Scott. I'm not all that excited about getting the band back together just yet, because that meant that we would have to get Malia back in at some point and I'm not really in the mood for her just yet.
Stiles nodded as he shut the door to his jeep, "My dad said that I need to forgive him."
"He said the same thing to me but that doesn't mean that I'm going to do it?" I responded as I folded my arms over my chest.
He glanced at me sadly, "He hurt me and I'm not sure if I'm totally over it yet, but it's Scott, Kase. It's not good to hold onto all of this negativity."
"Whatever," I muttered in slight annoyance.
Just because he's forgiving him doesn't mean that I have to forgive him, too. I need to have an in depth conversation with Scott before any forgiveness can even take place. I'm not sure when this conversation will happen but it needs to happen before we can move forward. I have so many things that I need to say to him and he is going to listen to them whether he likes it or not.
I pushed open the front door and headed up to my brother's bedroom. When I entered I found him in the bathroom, his wound from Theo still taking up his torso. It wasn't healing like it should be and I think a majority of the reason to that is because he has lost some of his strength with his pack being disbanded.
Stiles cleared his throat as he walked towards the bathroom door, gaining Scott's attention. He looked up from his wound and smiled faintly as Stiles said, "Hey. Still not healing?"
"Sometimes it just takes a little longer. What are you doing here?" he asked as he grabbed a towel to dry his hands.
My boyfriend blinked rapidly, "Uh, you heard about the guy who got killed out at the communication towers right? I think I may have figured something out."
"You two want my help?" Scott asked slowly, glancing between Stiles and myself in confusion.
Stiles nodded, "Yeah, well, you said you could find the clues that I can't."
There was a heavy silence and you could tell that Scott was extremely happy to be included once again. Stiles pulled his cell phone out of his pocket and flashed the screen at Scott, "Here take a look. This is when the technician first arrived. You see him going in. Then Deputy Clark goes in. Then something really big and really fast comes charging out. And now comes Clark. Eventually, the technicians body is carried out by paramedics."
"Okay? What am I missing?" Scott asked in confusion.
Luckily, I wasn't on the security camera footage... meaning that I had gotten into the communication towers the same way that the big black thing did, and since it didn't use the front entrance that means there is another entrance somewhere inside. I'm not sure how I managed to find it, but I had gotten in there somehow and it wasn't through the front door. There is the possibility that maybe I'm the big black thing that came running out, but I don't want to entertain that just yet.
"Two people go in. Three come out. I checked all the footage, not a single person enters that building before the technician the entire day. So, where does that something really big and really fast come from?" Stiles asked the question, hoping that Scott would put it together.
My brothers eyes widened, "There's another way in."
Stiles nodded, "And there's one more thing we need to tell you."
I quirked an eyebrow and glanced at him curiously, what else is there to tell Scott? The main thing we have to go on right now is that there is another entrance and we need to find said entrance. Stiles was looking at me expectantly and Scott glanced between the two of us slowly, "Okay? What else is there?"
"Yeah, what else is there?" I asked Stiles, not exactly sure what we were supposed to be telling him.
Stiles sighed, "Kasey has something to tell you."
"No, Kasey doesn't." I responded immediately, already knowing where this was going. I am so not telling him about the dream and the blood.
I wanted to tell Stiles, not Stiles and Scott. I wanted to keep this between the two of us until I got more answers because I already know exactly what Scott is going to think the second that I tell him about everything, hell Stiles is probably considering it as well. They are both going to think that I'm the big scary black thing that came barreling out of the building. I can't say for certain that I'm not, but I'm like 80% sure that I'm not and I like those odds.
"Kasey, you have to tell him." Stiles said softly, and honestly I wanted to punch him. I confided in him and now he's making me relay information to Scott. Information that I would like to keep to myself.
Scott rose an eyebrow in question, "What do you have to tell me?"
"Nothing," I responded evenly.
I'm not doing this right now. I'm not delving into this little mystery with Scott because I don't even want to be in the same room as Scott right now, let alone work on something as important as this with him. This is personal and private information that I chose to share with Stiles because I was afraid that if he found out I had been keeping it from him he would get mad, that's the only reason I told him. Now, he's making me tell yet another person about all of this.
"You saw the blood on her bed this morning, right?" Stiles asked him, disregarding my wish to keep Scott in the dark about the subject.
Scott nodded, "Yeah... she said it was because it's that time of the month?"
"Yeah, well... it's not. It's because she was in the communication towers last night with the body. She thought she was dreaming about it, but it turns out she was actually there. Now, she isn't on the footage which means she must have gotten in the same way that the big scary black thing did." Stiles began to partially explain the story.
My brother's eyes landed on me, "Kasey, that thing is a chimera... the last chimera that the Dread Doctors made."
"Okay? What does that have to do with me?" I responded shortly, slightly aggravated that we were having this conversation to begin with.
Scott swallowed thickly, "What if you're their last chimera?"
There it is ladies and gentleman. Scott McCall once again thinking that I'm the bad guy.
"That wasn't me. I saw it, it looked right at me." I stated heatedly, not liking his accusation.
Stiles jumped into the conversation quickly, "I don't think that it's Kasey, but I do think that she may have a connection to it. Maybe that was her purpose with the Dread Doctors experiments... maybe she's linked to the last chimera."
"Or, she is the last chimera." Scott repeated himself.
I could feel my blood boiling as I glared at him, "Why are you so quick to assume that it's me?"
"I just don't want to ignore the possibility now and then have it come back to bite us in the ass later, that's all, Kasey." he said softly, sympathy lacing his words.
The tension in the room was rising and I was already regretting enlisting Scott's help. We don't need him, I can do everything that he can do now-- he's useless. He's got it in his head that I'm whatever this beast is and he's not going to let that idea go, he's going to waste all of his time and energy thinking about me and not who else it could possibly be.
Stiles sighed, "Kasey--"
"No, you know what? Who the hell cares, right? Because it's not like it matters if it's me or not, anyway. I'm still the bad guy no matter what I do. So, go ahead and think that it's me. I honestly don't give a shit what you believe, I know what I saw and I know that I'm not it." I seethed as I turned on my heel and stomped out of his bedroom.
Where the hell am I even going?
Stiles quickly bolted after me and he managed to grab my wrist before I made it down the staircase, "Hey, slow down. Where are you going?"
"Anywhere but here, I can't be in the same room as him right now." I said through a clenched jaw as Scott poked his head through the doorway, watching the exchange between Stiles and myself.
My boyfriend sighed heavily, "Come with us to the communication tower, we could use your help with trying to find some information."
"I just told you that I can't be in the same room as him and now you want me to get into an enclosed space with him? Are you freaking kidding me?" I cried out in exasperation. I need some space from my brother, not some bonding time.
Scott stepped out into the hallway, "I won't say anything else about you being the... thing... for the rest of the day, alright?"
"You better not, or I'll rip your fucking throat out."

When we arrived to the communication tower, I had a heavy wave of deja vu hit me in the gut. I don't exactly remember being outside of the building, but something about it feels familiar. The feeling grew stronger as we entered and descended the staircase to where the technician had been killed. I winced as I saw the puddle of blood on the floor. The entire area was completely trashed. Lockers and cabinets were overturned and blood was spattered everywhere.
Stiles glanced at me unsurely, "Anything feel familiar?"
"Yeah," I nodded as I crouched down in front of the puddle of blood. I could remember that the body was laying right here. This looked just like my dream.
I stood up and nodded my head towards the puddle, "The body was right here."
Stiles clicked on his flashlight and walked further into the room. Scott and I branched off in different directions, both of us using our heightened senses to try and pick up something that maybe the police could have missed. I made sure to keep the soles of my shoes out of the blood on the floor, not wanting to track it back outside after we leave.
"Do you see that?" Stiles asked, drawing mine and Scott's attention to what he was shining his light on.
Scott quirked an eyebrow, "I see blood."
"Look where it leads to," Stiles said in response.
I peeked around his shoulder to see that behind a trashed filing cabinet that all of the blood was "draining" into something. Scott stepped forward and attempted to move the cabinet, but he quickly failed and began to breathe heavily as he continued to attempt to move it on his own.
Apparently that wound from Theo was still affecting him more than he would like to acknowledge.
I let out a sigh and moved to the other side, glancing at him, "Lift on three?"
"Okay," he nodded as he readied himself to use every ounce of strength he had to move the damn metal storage piece.
I gripped the bottom of the cabinet and cleared my throat, "One... two... three."
We both then shot up with the cabinet, obviously my strength is what moved the cabinet but Scott helped to keep it steady on his side. Stiles grabbed the front of the cabinet and kept it from tilting to far forward and falling on himself.
Once the cabinet was moved, a large hole was now looking back at the three of us. There had been a grate over top of it but it was obvious that something really big had pulled the bars apart to allow access to this level of the building. Stiles stepped forward and glanced down the hole, "There's a ladder."
"You want to go down?" Scott asked him.
He nodded, "Hell yeah, but there's something else..."
I watched as he crouched down and reached down the hole grabbing something that was hanging from one of the broken bars. My hands immediately shot to my neck as soon as he stood up, revealing what he had found. It was my anchor necklace that he had given me. Stiles glanced at me with wide eyes, "Well, you were definitely here."
"What is that?" Scott asked, clearly not recognizing the necklace.
Stiles handed over to me and I quickly clasped it back into place. I didn't even notice that it was gone. How could I be so stupid to not notice? I wear this thing every day. I had been down below this floor at some point, the question is what the hell was I doing down there?
"That's the necklace I bought her." Stiles replied as he glanced back down the hole.
Once the necklace was secure I stepped forward, "I'm going down first."
"What? Why?" Stiles asked quickly.
I quirked an eyebrow, "Because I'm the strongest one and there might be something dangerous down there? In case you haven't noticed Scott is having some major performance issues at the moment."
"Fine," he huffed in annoyance.
I then positioned myself on the ladder and climbed down. Once I hit the floor, I investigated the surrounding area, making sure that the big black thing wasn't like sleeping around the corner or something. Once I was sure that it was safe I walked back towards the ladder, "Alright, come on down!"
Stiles was the second one down and then Scott followed behind him. As soon as the three of us were all on the same level, Stiles turned his flashlight back on and he led the way through the tunnels we were now in. The ground was wet and it was pretty dark and musty down here. I made sure to keep myself relatively close to Stiles just in case something were to happen.
The three of us walked down the tunnels, which were starting to become all too familiar as well. We've been in tunnels just like this before. The light that Stiles had flickered out momentarily, so he smacked it against the palm of his hand to kick it back on. He then turned to the right and black smoke appeared hovering above the ground.
I quirked an eyebrow, "Now that's interesting."
Stiles nodded, "Very."
He continued to walk and then his light shined on something that looked like words. I took a step ahead of him so I could get a better look and when I saw what it said, I blinked in confusion. It was obviously in Latin, because I didn't know what it meant.
The letters said Damnatio Memoriae.
"What is that?" Scott asked, glancing between Stiles and myself.
My boyfriend then responded with what I had been just thinking, "It looks like Latin."
"Hold that light up, I'm gonna get a picture of it." Scott said before pulling his phone out.
I was looking at the words and I noticed that the light was shaking and Scott couldn't get a clear image out of it. Scott groaned, "Stiles, hold the light still."
My eyes widened when I saw Stiles fall to the ground, grabbing at the back of his neck. I then felt a sharp prick at the back of my neck and I spun around at the sensation, Tracy Stewart, the same Tracy that I had killed, was standing behind me. Scott gasped and quickly shoved his phone back into his pocket.
Tracy smirked, "Surprise bitch."
"How in the hell..." I breathed out in disbelief.
Her smirk faltered, "You should be on the ground right now."
"Surprise bitch," I responded with the same words that she had used moments before.
Lydia's theory was obviously correct; the Dread Doctors had made me a hybrid of multiple different things and one of them was clearly a Kanima because her venom isn't doing anything remotely damaging to me right now. I feel completely fine-- apart from the shock of seeing her crazy ass being alive and well.
Tracy cracked her neck and her smirk returned, "You're not killing me again."
"Try me," I growled as my eyes flickered to their bright purple color.
Her eyes widened, "Those are new."
"Scott, behind you!" Stiles shouted out of nowhere.
The sound of electricity crackling in the air filled the tunnels and Scott jumped out of the way as Josh appeared behind him. The same Josh that Theo killed on the rooftop of the hospital. What the hell is going on? How are all the dead chimera's back to life all of a sudden? Did we miss something?
In the midst of looking at Scott, Tracy had managed to get the jump on me. I felt the weight of her body slamming into mine, knocking me to the floor. I let out a grunt as my shoulder slammed into the concrete floor. My mind was beginning to play flashbacks of when she attacked me the first time, the only difference now is that I can actually defend myself and she won't get the upper hand on me.
Without wasting another second, I rolled off to the side. Her hand hit the concrete from where she was trying to take me out yet again. I pushed myself up into a standing position and wiped the back of my hand over my mouth. Tracy narrowed her eyes and swung at me, her claws aimed directly at my face. I dodged her attempt and snatched her wrist up out of the air. I twisted it to the side, hearing a distinguishable crack as I did so.
Tracy screamed and her other hand managed to get a hold of my neck, she dug her claws into my skin and shoved me back against the wall. I winced as her claws ripped apart my skin, I was thankful that the paralytic poison wouldn't affect me. I reached for her arm, using as much strength as I could to force her off of me. Her grip disappeared and I fell to the floor to escape her attempt at hitting me again.
Scott was still fighting Josh and I had an idea to stop them both, if we could get Tracy to paralyze Josh then we could both take on Tracy. I already broke her wrist, clearly she must know that I mean business. I watched as my brother rolled on the floor, dodging Josh's fist that was pulsing with electricity. I was now standing in front of Josh and Scott was standing in front of Tracy.
My brother and I placed our backs together and I could feel him breathing heavily, both of our eyes flashing red and purple. I noticed that Josh's eyes were a lighter shade of purple than mine were. Josh lifted his electricity filled fist and swung at me, I hit the floor at the same moment that Scott did-- and Tracy and Josh both hit one another. Her claws went into his stomach and his fist hit her chest. They both fell to the floor beside Stiles who then said, "Sucks doesn't it?"
Scott was glaring at the pipes on the wall and he growled loudly, I was surprised when Corey decided to show himself. So, that makes three dead chimera's that are somehow back alive. How in the holy hell are they alive?
"Okay!" an all too familiar voice called out, silencing Scott's roar.
I sighed in annoyance when Theo decided to make his grand entrance. Why am I not surprised that he is behind this? He must have used something from the Dread Doctors to bring them back to life, because I doubt he had the abilities on his own to do it.
Theo hopped through the entryway and smirked, "Maybe they're not ready to take on you two. Especially when they can smell fear."
His eyes narrowed and traveled over to Corey who was obviously very scared in this moment. Corey swallowed thickly, "They've got fangs."
"Theo, what the hell did you do?" I demanded as I gestured to the three very much alive chimeras.
Tracy stood up and her and Corey helped Josh up off the floor. Theo shrugged, "I found some new friends. I don't take rejection well."
Stiles was still laying on the floor as Theo stepped into the room where we were all standing. Theo glanced down at Stiles and my boyfriend smiled sarcastically, "Hey Theo."
"Stiles," he nodded in response.
I watched as Theo's eyes traveled to the black letters on the floor, the light was still shining on them so we could still see what it said, but as soon as Theo saw it he stomped his foot on top of it and shattered the concrete-- making it impossible to read. He then began to approach Scott and myself, "You're going to leave here thinking that you need to worry about me. But you're wrong. We're actually back on the same side. Because that thing... that's what we need to worry about. Your pack and mine. We're going to go back to school and pretend like we're normal teenagers, but at night we're going to be fighting for our lives."
"What is it?" Stiles asked from behind Scott and myself, as soon as Theo leaves I'm gonna go over there and help him off this dirty ass floor.
Theo scoffed, "It's not a chimera."
"But it's a kid underneath. Someone like us." Scott started to argue.
Theo glanced at me briefly before he said, "Not anymore."
"How do you know so much about this?" I asked in annoyance, not liking the fact that he had a slight advantage over us at the moment.
He chuckled, "Because I'm evil, remember?"
Theo then left the tunnels with a still very paralyzed Josh, a distraught Tracy and a terrified Corey. Leaving us with a still very paralyzed Stiles, a very distraught Kasey and a terrified Scott. When Theo had glanced at me when responding to Scott's question, I know that it obviously got to Scott and had him thinking that once again I was this beast of Beacon Hills. I know for a fact that I'm not, and I'm done trying to convince him that it's not me.
After Theo left, I rushed over to Stiles and helped him sit up. He winced slightly as he glanced at me, "I'm really getting tired of this Kanima venom."
I chuckled as I pushed his hair up off his forehead that had gotten messed up during his fall, "I'm sorry."
Scott sat down next to Stiles, "Theo knew what it meant but I can't remember what the words were."
"Damnatio Memoriae. It means the condemnation of memory. I also think that whatever it is the Dread Doctors created, whatever this last chimera is, it's not something new. It's something old. Really old." Stiles responded.
His theory made sense. I didn't have time to be in awe of his intelligence at the moment though, I needed to focus on trying to figure out what this big thing could be-- or rather who it could be. If I was here with it last night, does that mean that I saw who it was after they transformed? Does that mean that I know who this is?
"So they didn't create a new creature.." Scott said slowly.
Stiles swallowed thickly, "They resurrected one."
"We need help," Scott said as he draw a small circle in the dirt that was on the ground, "if Theo's got his own pack now then we need ours. We have to get the others back."
My boyfriend glanced at my brother in confusion, "The others? You mean Kira who is currently battling a homicidal fox spirit inside of her, Malia who isn't speaking to either one of us, Lydia who's stuck in Eichen House, and Liam who almost killed you?"
"Our pack sounds just lovely," I muttered sarcastically.
Scott nodded, "Also known as our best friends."
"Okay, how?" Stiles questioned further, clearly not seeing the possibilities here.
My brother smiled faintly as he nodded to the small circle on the ground, "One by one."
"You're not seriously going to make me do it?" he asked in slight embarrassment, thinking that this whole pack symbol drawing thing was beyond lame.
Scott nodded, "You're part of the pack right?"
"Okay," Stiles sighed as he took his index finger and traced a larger circle around the small one that Scott had just made.
I nodded to myself, "Alright let's get Stiles off the floor now."
"Stiles would very much appreciate that," he responded as I looped my arm around his back and pulled him up into a standing position.
Scott got his other side and the three of us made our way down the tunnel, "We need to find Kira."
"I still hate that tattoo." Stiles said quickly, as if he needed to get that statement off his chest immediately.
My brother chuckled, "I know."
