Chapter 24

Leah's POV

I headed for the park quickly, nervous about trying to get this to work. I'd promised Liam that I'd try and fix their relationship and I think the only way to do that is to be really honest and tell Conor everything Liam had said to me, as difficult as that may be. I don't want to hurt Conor's feelings or make him angry but with all of this tension between them needing to be fixed, this was how I was going about it. I sat down on a bench by the entrance and got my phone out, texting Conor to let him know where I was. Minutes later he arrived.

"Hey Loraini." He said cheerfully and I stood up, pulling him in for a hug as his cologne filled my nostrils.

"Hey Conor. You alright?" I responded as we sat down on the bench together.

"Yeah, well other than those messages you sent! It's the first time I've felt nervous in a long time." He laughed nervously. I took a deep breath in and out to compose myself before I began.

"Yeah, sorry about that. I'm not too good with words!" I laughed, but my tone became serious again straight afterwards. "Look, during my date with Liam, we were talking about your relationship with him and how bad it's gone. There's a lot he told me that he said he hasn't been able to tell you and I just thought the best way to try and help would be to just tell you what he told me." Conor shifted awkwardly in the chair as if to prepare in for some bad news.

"Why has he roped you into this?" His tone was laced with annoyance. He raised an eyebrow at me.

"He didn't. I offered. I think you're both nice guys and shouldn't be fighting over this." I said softly. Conor scoffed and folded his arms across his chest, leaning back.

"Sorry, last time I checked he'd cheated with my girlfriend. I think that's a perfect reason." He shook his head.

"Look, let me just say it so you can mull it over this evening." I sighed, frustration filling me. This was hardly going to be easy, I got that, but I didn't want to be arguing with Conor all evening!

"Fine!" He threw a hand forward as if to tell me to continue.

"Liam told me Gemma had been flirting with him on and off throughout your relationship but he always rejected her. He told me she actually played him that night, she followed him to his room and claimed you two had broken up at the party and cried and took advantage of the moment. He says he's regretted it ever since." I listed off to Conor with slight irritation in my voice. This could have gone so much better.

"Well..." Conor breathed out. He rubbed the back of his neck with his hand. "This is new." He fidgeted as the information sunk in.

"I'm sorry Conor. I really didn't want to tell you but I didn't know any other way." I put a hand on his leg and gave it a comforting squeeze.

"Well i appreciate that you wanted me to know the truth and wanted to fix things with Liam. This may take a while to sort out though. It's got a lot worse than that." He shrugged. "I guess I'll have a chat with him." I smiled widely, that was all I wanted to hear! I may have just helped them on the way to repairing their relationship.

"Anything is better than nothing." I smiled as I took my hand off his leg but he grabbed it in his hand. I looked up into his eyes as he gazed back into mine.

"Loraini, it's going to kill me but I've got to ask... how was your date with Liam?" He shut his eyes to mentally prepare for my answer as he opened them again I put my other hand on top of his.

"It was nice. It was refreshing and relaxing and we got to know each other more. He kissed me unexpectedly." Conor looked away as I spoke the last sentence. "Sorry, I just wanted to be honest..." I breathed. "We massaged each other, it was fun. What more can I say?" He pulled his hand away from me and clenched them in his lap.

"Look, Loraini, I'll say it now because otherwise I might not. Liam is going to be choosing his date for the graduation and leavers party in just over a week and I've got a strong feeling he's gonna ask you or Rae. The rules mean I can't touch anyone on his list until after he has chosen the one. I've already broken the rules once and I'm going to again. I would love for you to go to that as my date. It's fine if you don't, and if you'd rather go with Liam, I completely understand. He is so much more than me in ways that I can't compete with but I just wanted you to know where I stood too." He stood up and put his hands in his pockets but I stood up quickly to stop him leaving.

"Conor..." I grabbed his arm and turned him back round to me. "I need a moment to think about this but don't put yourself down so much. You're a really nice guy and I enjoy being with you a lot. There aren't many people that would get me out and to a park in an evening." I let out a laugh and he laughed in response. I kept my hand on his arm as I took a step towards him and closed the gap between us. My breathing quickened as I moved my hand up his arm and onto his shoulder. "I really like being with you." His hands  found their way onto my hips and he pulled me towards him, wrapping his strong arms around me. I put my hands behind his neck and pulled him down so I could kiss him. As soon as our lips touched, it felt right. It felt needed. We deepened the kiss as our hands explored each other once again. Conor began to kiss down my neck and I gripped him tighter, biting my lips together to stop any noise escaping the otherwise quiet park and as he kissed back up to my ear he whispered.

"Come back to mine with me?"
