#44 - Headcanon - Diet

When it comes to food, Onity's diet is different then humans.
He's from a species that is for the most part carnivores, for they are used to going out and hunting for food in their oni beast forms. This isn't a problem for animal populations as the population of onis is incredibly small compared to animal population.
When Unity spent years alone in the mansion, he was left to wonder around the forest and hunt different types of unfamiliar animals to eat. he ate birds, squirrels, snakes, literally anything he could find when he hunted. He always felt kinda bad. Animals on Yvenity also take use of the magical elements which give animals and Onis a better understanding of each other, but Unity could never create a connection with anything on earth in the same light. This connection can be viewed as something similar to Onity and The Cat.

So moving into Mike and Tyler's house means Onity's eating habits are changed completely. He's opened to a new culture, a new way of doing things, new types of food, some he'd never consider food before. He's never had cooked meats or sandwiches or seafood or bread or salads. He's never not had to hunt for himself. This instinct to hunt for food dies down pretty fast as Onity throws himself into human culture.
As he tests human food, meal after meal, he learns where those limits lie. Like how eating sweets makes him throw up, or how it's still preferable for him to eat raw or rare meats. He can eat more vegetarian meals, however all it would do is make him feel full, and he'd gain very little to no nutrients from it.

Tyler probably eats way more sweets and junk food then he should. He's never been really good at managing himself. When he was little, his mother was the one who controlled what he ate. As long as he ate the healthy foods he was given, he could have unhealthy treats as snacks here and there. Now that he lives with Mike and Onity, it's more so Mike and Onity's job to make sure Tyler pays more attention to what he eats. Of course Tyler gets way more freedom with it, but Mike ends up cooking most of their meals anyway. With the occasional trip for fast food, just about anything Mike brings home is considered to be healthy.

With Onity's limits and Tyler's health problems, Mike has to pay more attention to what foods they should buy, and in doing this, his own diet is altered to fit their's. On top of that, Tyler can be really picky and Mike and Onity can be really adventurous with food.
