HEART NO KUNI NO ALEX || 36

"Psst."

I groaned and pulled the covers over me more, folding myself into them, in an attempt to block out the annoying bastard.

"Psst."

That was the tenth psst in the past five minutes.

"Psst."

Eleventh.

"Psst."

Twelfth.

"Alex, psst--"

"Dear God Ace!" I finally yelled, my hair a mess from shooting up from the covers. "What do you want?"

He chuckled. "Well, firstly, I want you to fix your hair, and secondly, come to the castle with me!"

"No." My hair was a mess, and no amounts of patting or combing through it with my fingers seemed to help, because Ace just seemed more amused the more I attempted to fix it. "I'm not leaving the clock tower, remember?"

"It's fine!" He beamed. "We just won't tell Julius!"

My groan became even louder. "Ace, he is literally right in front of you."

"Ace, I am right in front of you." Julius sighed. "Alex, get off the floor."

Currently, I was laying on the floor -- right in front of the table Julius works on-- with the blanket from my room wrapped around me. Julius forbade me from leaving the clock tower because of the dumb stunt I pulled. In other words, I was grounded. Papa Julius grounded me, because I almost got my arm sliced off and died-- though that's just a minor detail. He even got Gray to put a lock on my window (a lock that actually works, as opposed to the old one) so I couldn't secretly escape. To show how stupid he was being, I decided to follow him around the house, wrapped in my blanket. When he would go to the kitchen, I would hop to the kitchen. When he would sit down and work, I'd lay in front of the table on the floor. As childish as I was being, I think Julius was actually glad that I was following him, even if he did call me annoying, because at least this way he knew exactly where I was and whether or not I could escape.

At some point earlier in the day, Ace had joined us. He decided to mimic my actions. I was doing it because it was my passive aggressive protest. Ace did it because he wanted to annoy me, and it was an excuse to follow Julius around.

"He's not allowed outside." Julius said sternly.

"I'm not allowed outside." I repeated to Ace, glumly.

Ace blinked.

"Isn't that a good thing, Alex? Strange moody boys like you hate the outdoors, don't they?"

Hang on -- Who the fuck are you calling-- I'm the strange moody boy out of the two of us? Does Ace even understand what he's saying? This damn yandere.

I frowned, ignoring the fact that he called me moody and strange. "I don't actually want to go outside, I'm just mad that I can't."

To this, Ace laughed.

"Why doesn't the cat just come here and rescue you, like last time?"

I tensed up as his tone suddenly dropped in temperature. Julius noticed as well, but didn't say anything. "E- Excuse me?"

Ace shrugged but still smiled. "Why doesn't he use that pink door to get you out of here?"

"Because he doesn't want to." Honestly, I don't see how any of this is his business. "Besides, it's not like I want him to either. Just because I'm complaining doesn't mean I'm not okay with staying here."

"Lighten up, Alex!" He's still smiling, and he's done that thing he did back at the Hatters-- where it's like he's opened the lid to his yandere jar but then suddenly goes sike! and seals it back up, albeit loosely. "I was kidding."

At least he didn't call me moody again.

Well, I may be moody, but Ace is definitely the stranger one out of the two of us.

That damn yandere.
