Chapter VII: Old Memories

《A/n: here's that chapter with progress lmao 》

You stayed awake as long as you could that night.

But in the end, you lost to sleep.

The night was darker this time. In front of you was the entrance to a, hospital? No it's different, you heard  screaming, and static from inside.

For once you tried to remember what Feng did, fix generators and stay away from the killer hunting them (including you.)

You didn't know where you were going, you never knew where you were going in these dreams.

You walked down the shadowed halls in hopes of running into another survivor.

You heard the sounds of a generator, and you immediately went to find an entrance to the room.

You gasp, Claudette's form turned to look at you.

"(Y/n)?"

"Claudette!" You mouthed, running to hug her.

She accepted your embrace, squeezing you before placing hands on your shoulder to look at you. "We have to be quiet alright? I don't know which killer was put into the game with us."

You pressed your lips into a thin line, there are more killers then.

"Come crouch down with me, I'll tell you how to fix the generators and I'll explain what I can." She glanced at you, giving you the instructions on how to repair them.

You learned quickly, getting the hang of twisting and turning knobs, and connecting wires. Claudette spoke over the sounds of the generator, explaining to you that this was the Treatment Theater. The place where a killer called the "Doctor" originates from. She also said Feng Min entered this world along with the Doctor.

She explained the sacrifice, the five generators needed to power the two gates. The powers and abilities the killers hold to stop them.

For awhile you just listened, helping with what you could on the generator until you had to ask.

Tapping on her shoulder, she stopped her hands to focus on you. Nervously, you turned around to show her your scars.

"Is that... from the Cannibal?" She guessed, and you nodded as you crouched back down. "Oh (Y/n)... you can still go to the real world can't you? Is that where you disappear to?"

All you did was nod, because in some way, she was completely right. You returned to the "waking world".

She sent you a sympathetic look, and began to explain; "when we are first hit by the weapon of each killer, there's a scar left in it's place. A sort of reminder to us that we have encountered them... it's only the first time though. I'm sorry, you must've been really shocked, huh?"

You nod again because you have nothing else to "say" in its place. You needed to take this information in.

That's when a scream erupted and echoed through the halls and into your ears.

Your eyes looked to Claudette's brown ones. She kept her eyes on the gen this time, "we'll rescue them after we finish this. It's almost done." You hesitated by her words, what sort of reason is that!?

After experiencing the pain of being hooked on your first "trail" here, like hell you'd want someone else to go through it!

As you stood, one of Claudette's hands shot to your wrist.

"Don't." She said sternly, and another scream echoed.

You shook your head, trying to free your hand from her grip.

"Don't, (Y/n). Believe me, we have time."

You stared at her, why would you waste it though?! Was what screamed through your mind. Then it hit you like a ton of bricks.

You were the newbie in all this.

You hadn't experienced all the hell that they did.

They knew what they were doing, and you don't.

You sank down, making Claudette let go of your wrist. "Sorry." You mouthed, and she gave you a reassuring look.

"It's okay, I know it may be an instinct to go help them but trust me." The woman said.

As the generator lit up, it gave a loud ring in the air. Then the same sound went off in the distance.

"Come, let's keep moving."

•▪°○°▪•

You and Claudette through to the sounds of whimpers and groans, on the hook, was the female wearing that same grey beanie.

"Shit, Detty, mind a little savin'?" She acknowledges you by sending a grin your way.

Claudette runs after her, grabbing her under the arms and heaving her off the hook.

"'S Nea by the way." She said while Claudette examines her wounds before taking out a roll of bandages from her back pocket.

"The Nightmare?" Claudette asks as she bandages the claw marks on Nea's back and side.

"Yup, real bastard that one." Nea cranes her head to look at you. "Nice to finally meet you again." You met her eye, her tone isn't as welcoming as you imagined. You have a feeling you're going to find out why she's looking at you like that sooner or later. Claudette scolded her for the open profanity but kept up her work until Nea was patched up.

You nod at her in greeting when the sounds of children singing entered your hearing.

"We should split, I'm not about to get claws up my ass again. Sorry, Detty." She apologized for last second on the swearing and began running off, jumping over a window and disappearing from your sight.

Claudette grabbed your hand and pulled you along, "there." She pointed to a red locker. "Hide in there. I'll lead him away."

You wanted to protest, but the sound of those children was getting louder and you realized there isn't time to protest.

So you slipped into the locker, peaking out to see Claudette stand a bit away. Her eyes began to drop and her neck lolling to the side.

In her sleep-like state, she began to run.

Footsteps were heard outside the locker, and you knew they were not Claudette's.

That must be the "Nightmare" then.

Another generator was powered as you went out of the locker. Glancing around for a few moments before going back to where Nea was hooked.

The circular room had both a meat hook and a generator in the centre. You supposed you should do your part and began to work on the generator.

You weren't going to lie when you said you didn't jump when the gen exploded. Sparks flew to your face and you had to cover your face so none made contact with your skin.

You mentally cursed at yourself, the blast was loud. You hoped the Nightmare wasn't attracted here by the noise.

You kept yourself more focused this time, not wanting to mess up again.

Right at you got through halfway on the generator you heard Claudette's scream.

Don't rush after her, or else you'll end up being downed as well... just finish this quickly. Hope filled your body as your progress on repairing it went quicker. Done. Your mind cheered at your small accomplishment on completing your first generator. Now you had to save Claudette.

You followed where you heard her scream, though without a guide you found that difficult with this place almost being like a maze. You did eventually stumble upon where she was being hung.

She gave you a strained smile and you did your best to carry her and pull her off. With a lot of effort, you carried her off the hook.

She handed you the roll of bandages, that seemed as though she didn't use any on Nea. It was still a full roll.

"Just wrap it around my wounds. After a while, the Entity has them healed as nothing happened."

You nod, eyes filled with determination, and began to wrap the shorter woman's torso.

"Thank you," she said, and a loud horn sounded through the building. "Of their all completed?"

You shrugged, not even noticing all five were done. Claudette smiled widely at you and lead the way to the exit.

You got there, where Nea and... Cynthia- no- Laurie stood, waiting.

"Come on!" Nea gestured and all four of you ran towards the distant forest.

•▪°○°▪•

You caught your breath, taking a seat between Claudette and Nea. You were greeted to the fire and introduced to each person.

You let them converse while you just sat by the fire. Eyes wandering around the strange place.

You grabbed a stick, and wrote slowly in the dirt, getting Nea's attention.

"Is this real?" You wrote, and Nea scowled slowly at the question.

"Of course, it is. We were taken here by the Entity." She exhaled through her nose, "you're lucky, you're still able to leave aren't you?"

"Nea..." Meg, the athletic ginger said in a warning tone.

"Just answer, yes or no." Nea's eyes pierced through you.

You slowly nodded, and Nea's head snapped to Meg's. "See told you, she can leave!"

You frowned, then began to write in the dirt again. "I'm in a dream right now aren't I?"

Claudette hummed in thought, "perhaps for you. In our cases, we were actually taken. We're not sleeping."

Her answer made your heart sink. They've definitely been here longer than you.

"... what year is it?" Quentin asked, eyes with heavy bags looking up to you.

"2018." You wrote in the dirt after clearing the first questions.

Claudette looked to Meg, then Jake, then Dwight, and mumbled; "we've been here for two years."

You looked at her in shock, Dwight trembled slightly. "It was 2016 of September when I was brought here..."

"We were all brought here in September of 2016," Jake said, then continued to speak. "We were the first four here, along with the killers; the Trapper, Wraith, and Hillbilly."

You glanced at Meg, her blue eyes met yours. "Then the Entity took in more people." She spoke.

You nod your head, of course, they've been here much longer than you. But for two years? It seems so... tragic.

From what you've learned and gone through in this place, you have a feeling your next paintings will be filled with the same emotions.

They changed the subject soon enough, and you were glad. No one wants to really talk about it.

Your eye caught something. White, dark eyeholes.

Michael.

Without hesitation you stood, they were taken from the real world. That mean's this is the real Michael Myers, no doubt at this moment.

You left the campfire, the survivors who sat by called out to you. But you were far too focused on your target. When he spotted you, he walked farther away from the fire, as if he was testing if you were going to follow.

Your eyes met his, but you could barely see his eyes from the darkness. You gave him the short chase.

When you approached him, you stopped a meter away.

He had turned to face you now, much taller than you, more well-built, and older than the last time you saw him.

"Michael." You mouthed, eyes looking for something in him. Your hand subconsciously reached out to touch him, to see if he was really there.

Your fingers nearly brushed against his coveralls when his hand wrapped around your throat. Pushing you against a tree and held you there.

You choked out a gasp, eyes wide. Of course, you're completely stupid. He doesn't recognize you, does he?

Michael stared down at you, eyes burning into your soul. You mouthed his name again, and his hand squeezed your throat before returning to its firm grip.

"Do you remember me?" You mouthed because you knew he could read your lips. He was always good at it.

It took full minutes before his grip trembled lightly, you placed a hand on his that was around your throat. "Do you remember me? Michael?"

Your eyes desperately looked into his blank dark ones for any sign of the old Michael you knew. But... by the way his grip wavered... you had a feeling you had struck something in him.

You were dropped down to the ground. Letting out another gasp, Michael clenched his fist, slipping into his pocket. The shine of metal flashed past your eyes.

The next thing you knew, Michael was crouched in front of you, his knife plunged into the bark of the tree right next to your head.

You shrunk back but held eye contact with him.

Michael was so hard to understand when it came to intentions. You couldn't read him anymore, not as well as you did in the past.

This could be a show of dominance, or a warning, or something completely different. You didn't know.

"Michael..."

His breathing was heavy, and you heard it muffled through the mask. You tried to reach for the cheek of his mask, but he flinched away. Pulling the knife from the tree he quickly turned, and just like that he was gone.

Your thoughts went blank just as fast, and right there you were consumed by the black mist.

I guess it's time to wake up again...
