Chapter XXVIII: A Way Out

"This is so fucking stupid." Nea growls, watching as the Cannibal was put on their new "patrol" roles. A while had past, that didn't stop the alley cat from complaining about it.

Quentin nods in agreement, giving a small yawn. "Yeah, the Entity has really gotten us limited with this."

"You still think... we'll still be able to do this?" The songbird mumbled, looking to her shoes.

"Uh duh- we're not letting this stop us." Nea says, in a tone as though it were the most obvious thing. Maybe because they all needed to hear it a loud.

"Your stubbornness will never be understood." Jake muttered, earning a glare from Nea.

"What? You just gonna give up? Where's your resilience, huh?" Nea walked up to the saboteur, poking him harshly on the shoulder. "Don't be a pussy. One obstacle is thrown your way, so what? You gonna trip on it and lay there or you gonna get back up and keep running?"

"Quite the motivator." Kate whispers, still agreeing with Nea's words.

"Well of-fucking-course. When (Y/n) isn't here, someone's gotta do it." Hands were on her hips as she glanced over to the Cannibal not too far away. Four of the survivors that were in a trial appeared back. A sigh leaves Nea's nose and she looks to the ground, "I just don't want the poor woman to give birth in this shitty place, okay? Can we all agree with that?"

"What are we taking about?" Claudette raises a brow, dusting off her pants. "Three of us escaped, by the way." She informs the others.

Nea nods, before giving her the brief explanation. "Just telling them why we shouldn't be deterred by the whole perimeter thing."

The botanist smiles, "you're not wrong. And I agree with you, having a child be born in this place wouldn't be the best."

"Make it a goal not to let it happen?" Kate says, hoping for their agreement too.

"'Course, we haven't given her the credit she's due." Quentin shrugs, "I mean, she's the real motivator."

"Wonder when we'll see her again. I'm sure she isn't safe around the other killers like us." Claudette mumbles quietly, letting the silence fall on their camp.

Time passes, and your baby bump get's increasingly bigger.

To just think you're in your third trimester is a lie. You had a very strong feeling you were, though you weren't a huge expert on it. As time wasn't exactly distinguishable in this realm.

You'd rant to Michael how you missed the taste of food, being able to go outside and see animals and birds other than crows. To see Keith and Jess and converse with Leah and Amélia again.

Michael couldn't fulfill your wishes, but he made up for it.

You're never truly lonely, which is a lot on it's own. Whether you're feeling down about it, he'd treat your moods his way. It surprised you one night when you were feeling far sadder than usual. You were given quiet reassuring words, not to mention him adding; "your sadness would affect the children's, and I wouldn't want to see any of you that way." A sentence that brought a smile to your lips, because no matter how cold he can act sometimes. He'd give up that facade just to make sure you're okay.

You were granted a different set of clothes too, which you were (despite it being the Entity) grateful. Your old clothes wouldn't fit so easily with your growing belly.

"Being pregnant is hard."

Michael tilts his head, amusement shown in his eyes. "Of course." He chooses to sign.

"You're gonna be watching them a lot. I'll still have to be working on painting when I get back, you know." You sign, relaxing back against his chest. Tilting your head back and pressing your lips to the jaw of his mask.

You feel his head nod, and for you, being able to paint again would be a blessing as well. For experiencing the same imprisonment as the others, you knew seeing the outside world again would be a blessing on it's own.

"I really didn't plan to get pregnant at this age, you know." You huffed a laugh, "would have been worth trying to ask the Entity to be gracious enough with condoms."  Your shoulders shake with laughter when Michael turns his head away, burying it into the couch cushions. Clearly embarrassed by the overlooked factor.

When he finally looked back to you, you simply sign, "what? It's true." Causing him to plant his face back into the cushions with less embarrassment but more amusement.

You're pleased to lighten the mood. It keeps your hopes uplifted, even if the whole situation can feel grim.

You take his hand, grinding it to rest on your stomach while you calm from your silent laughing fit. He leaves it where you placed it, you can hear a huff leaves his nose but you know he's okay too.

"Walk me to the others?"

He gives you a stern look, and you roll your eyes and give him a "you know I'm right when I say this" expression. "Would you rather I go alone?"

His stare falls blank, and you hear a sigh leave his lips when he shakes his head. You smile at the small victory, and he helps you up before getting up himself.

You snatched the notebook and pen off the table. Then your replacement sweater was draped over your shoulders as you walked to the door.

"Thank you." You glance behind you to the tall killer. Michael nods, opening the door and prompting you to go ahead. A chuckle escapes your nose, what a gentleman.

"Holy shit, you're stomach grew a lot, or that's just me?"

"Nea, that's not how you greet someone after not seeing them for a while." Claudette said, her eyes warming when she looks to you. "Nice to see you again."

You stared at the boundary for a moment, your arm moving to go to the other side. The Entity's appendages moved where your arm was, and you frowned when you looked back to Michael. Knowing he wouldn't be able to cross it.

"Wait here?" Michael nods, shoulders slumping, just barely.

Leatherface was near to, giving you a wave when you met his eye. You returned it, a small smile on your face while you crossed to the survivors... "cage".

"Well, what's next?" Jake crosses his arms looking to you with a raised brow.

"Nothing much, gamble our strategies, get better at chases and learn to lose the killer if needed." You write out, pressing your lips into a line.

"Okay, well... not so loud okay? I'd rather not have those two out there hearing." You give Nea a blank look, but nodded regardless.

Tapping your pen against the notebook in thought, you began writing down any more possibilities.

You stood up, confusion painting your face when you see the sky get visibly brighter. Though not to the point where it felt like day time.

Exiting the house to the front porch, you leaned out to look up to the sky. No way I'm seeing things. You think with knitted brows.

You gasped, nearly knocked by the sudden shake of the ground if you hadn't been holding onto the fencing.

So it started again? Maybe we're doing more now too, the sky isn't usually this bright. Your hands clench the white fence tighter. Thoughts race through your mind, placing a steady hand on your stomach. We'll get out, I'm absolutely sure we will.

"Lollipop." His hand was placed on your shoulder. Nudging you inside to eat something.

You reluctantly follow, signing to him what had just happened. Your given your meal, though you couldn't keep your eyes away from glancing out the window. Something just felt... off.

You knew Michael sensed it too. He was tense, even while sitting next to you. Patiently waiting for you to finish your tasteless meal.

You smiled to him when you finished, standing up and walking to place the used dish on the counter.

Before you could even reach it you felt tha ground shake, far more violently. And if Michael hadn't caught you, you would have fallen for sure.

This... this isn't normal. Your eyes widened, meeting Michael's concerned ones.

As you saw the night change to day in a rapid pace. Sharp claws grabbed your arms and you were yanked away from Michael's grasp. Taken into a world of darkness.

Your mouth opened to scream, yet the darkness ate whatever noise left you.

"Motivator... was it? It seems you've taken the leadership to outplay me. And I'm impressed, but not pleased."

You felt a chill run down your spine, you prayed that Michael could get you out of this darkness.

"What was the saying? An eye for an eye and the world goes blind? Perhaps I'll trade you something, for more than just a simple reminder that you've won against me."

Pain erupted, your eyes shut and you clenched your stomach. You were shaking, trembling, because it hurt. Whatever sensation you were feeling made it hurt.

Not only that but you were certain your water just broke. Then, right before you fell unconscious;

You hear yourself scream.
