Chapter 16

Naomi's PoV

Calum and Poppy look cosy in Italy

With every ounce of strength I tried not to click the article, to read up on those two and see the comments on how amazing they were together. That should have been me.
It was three in the morning and I still couldn't sleep, not because of jet lag but because of what Calum had said. He'd actually resisted me. That had never happened before, regardless of what situation we'd been in. We'd argued, fought, thrown things, said things that would have broken the other's heart but when I slunk in, wearing something nice and rousing his lust and desire, all would be forgotten. He'd always come to me.

I clicked the article.

Instantly, a picture of the two of them appeared, hugging up to each other as they ate lunch out with the other band members and their partners. I scrolled further. They shared forkfuls of each other's foods, laughing as she sat on his lap, enjoying drinks in the sun. I don't know if he'd ever smiled that big when he was with me. My gut wrenched in fear. What if I couldn't do what I wanted? What if I couldn't get him to come back to me?

No Naomi, you can do this. You just need to think outside of the box. You are a beautiful woman, wise and clever, full of wit and charm. If he wasn't going to come to you when you begged him, you'd have to go with other options.

My mind whirred with possibilities. What if I pretended to be a friend, call him to come and help me? What if I kidnapped him? Or better kidnapped her and left her somewhere? I've heard grief can do terrible things to people but it can also drive people into the arms of others. Maybe I could hurt the new girl, send her away for a while and rush in to save Calum... Hmm, the possibilities are endless.

I continued to scroll.

Breaking News! Calum and Poppy look at wedding venues in Italy

I breathed in and out shakily. My time was running out. There had to be something I could do, something that would stop them from being so cosy so that I had my chance to swoop in. Calum was mine, she needed to watch herself. Any fight that was for Calum, I'd win. I'd be there and I'd put everything into the fight. I'd have to win.

My obsession with this couple was unrivalled. I'd now spent every second I was awake planning my attack and reading up on them, knowing what I could say and do to ruin them. I'd created a twitter account, pretending to be a fan, and followed every account that gave details on the guys, their partners or their whereabouts. I was very well informed.

I gritted my teeth as I scrolled, taking in any part of the information that would be beneficial to me and my plan. Calum can't marry her, no matter what happens, even if I have to crash the wedding and lie...

That's it!

I grabbed a notebook from my bedside and scrambled through the pages until I came across the person I wanted. Tapping their name as if to tell myself that was the one, I quickly dialled their number in excitement.

"Hello, Chad speaking." Chad was a journalist for a gossip paper and he always wanted news, no matter how real or fake, to sell. I'd come across him when he asked for an interview with me and Calum about our whirlwind relationship but Calum was reluctant, making me decline the interview despite everything in me desperately wanting the publicity.

"Chad, it's Naomi Swann." I purred, knowing my seduction got me most places. "You previously wanted to do an interview-"

"Yes, I remember you. Calum's ex?" His words cut deeply, angering me slightly. I let out a small, silent sigh as I pictured wringing his neck for being a rude moron, but continued to plaster on a smile as I spoke.

"Yes. Well anyway, I have a great piece of news for you." I said, getting straight to the point. He seemed to perk up instantly.

"Is there now? And what could this be?"

"I'm not sure if you're aware, but Calum and I are an item again." I said, sure of myself. He let out a flat laugh, irritating me more.

"Really? Cos from what I've been reading, him and Poppy are doing just fine." His tone seemed agitated like he was under the impression I was wasting his time. We'll see how quickly that switches when he hears my plan.

"At the moment. I'm talking about the future. Tonight, they're heading to the local club. Be there, with your camera, and catch him in the act. He'll be with me, hands all over me. Poppy will be left to pick up the pieces." I let out a sinister chuckle.

"Am I sensing a rivalry between you and Poppy?" He pushed, trying to get more information out of me. I smirked to myself as I responded.

"She's old news. He never got over me and each time he sees me, he wants me. She won't know what hit her." He seemed to laugh too, happy that he got his fill of gossip news. I could hear the keyboard clacking as he responded, clearly already typing up his article.

"Well, I can't wait to see this. And is this something you've told a lot of paps about?"

"No. You've got the exclusive. So you'd better paint me in a good light or I'll throw you under the bus so fast you won't even be able to step foot in your office again tomorrow." I snapped, making sure he knew exactly where I stood.

"No problem. And thank you. See you at the club." He said and I smiled to myself as I hung up the phone. This was going to be so good. I can't wait to see how not only Calum, but Poppy react when he's caught with me at the club instead of her...
This is going to be good.
