Chapter 2
Poppy's PoV
The sun blaring through the curtains woke us both up, but we just closed our eyes again and rolled into each other's arms.
"Good Morning." Calum mumbled into my hair, his voice hoarse from just waking up. I nuzzled my head into his chest, making sure I was comfortable before I responded.
"I think you mean Buenos días." I replied cheekily as I gave him a smirk and rolled out of bed. We'd been back touring for about a month now and had been staying in Spain for the last few days. The heat was lovely, the views beautiful and the hotel was gorgeous. I was living the life. I'd hardly ever travelled before, so it was nice to go out and see the beauty of the world in all its glory whilst Calum and the guys did their jobs. I couldn't help but think about just how lucky they were. I'd never have been able to find a job that let me travel, yet here the band were doing it on the regular. Life had finally taken a turn for the better, Calum had his cast removed and his ankle was now fully healed, Mr Shine saw to it that he did the follow ups personally and offered Calum some exercises and tips to build up the strength in his ankle again. I'd been given the all clear from my surgery follow ups and was now touring with the guys - although they were all very cautious and told me what I could and couldn't do to prevent any further issues with my stomach. I tried to tell them that it was all healed, but I suppose for people not used to seeing trauma, that must have stuck with them pretty hard. The guy who had attacked us was now in jail for fifteen years, Kyle back in for ten, so there was nothing from my past that could ever come and screw up our relationship again. We'd gotten closer, mentally and physically over the past few months and everything felt right. For the first time, I could honestly say that we were both happy and content with how life was with no drama or pain. It was very much needed.
"Buenos Dias hermosa" Calum said, his voice low as he watched me walk towards the bathroom in just my underwear, offering him a sweet yet sultry smile as I left the room. It didn't take long for the pattering of feet across the Lino floor to come to my attention as Calum came into the bathroom and hugged me from behind. "You're killing me, you know that?" He whispered into my ear, his lips brushing my earlobe as he spoke causing me to shiver. I turned my head towards him and smiled.
"I could think of worse ways to go." I said confidently, giving him a little wink. His strong arms tightened around me as he hugged me, his bare chest pressing against my back as he lay his head on my shoulder. In the mirror's reflection, I watched his gaze move down to my stomach where the scar still remained from the attack. He unconsciously began to soothe it with his thumb as his eyes travelled the length of my body until they were back looking into my eyes. "You looking forward to today?" I swiftly changed the subject, knowing that he would appreciate it. I grabbed my toothbrush and toothpaste, squeezing it out before brushing my teeth. He watched everything I did.
"Yeah, it'll be nice to explore the city before we do our last gig here. Then we're off to Italy." He responded as he grabbed his toothbrush and toothpaste and got to brushing his teeth. I quickly rinsed my mouth and set my toothbrush back down.
"Italy is meant to be very romantic, no?" It was my turn to wrap my arms around him, offering him soft kisses up his bicep to his shoulder. His eyes darkened with desire but no sooner than he had moved to get closer to me, the phone rang in our room. "I'll get it."
Moving swiftly, I grabbed the phone and answered it.
"Hello?"
"Poppy, it's Michael. You alright?" I smiled at the phone. They were literally calling from the next room.
"Yes thanks. You? Everything okay?" There was hesitation at the end of the phone. My stomach dropped.
"Management want us to go for a soundcheck in the arena a little earlier than planned. Like, 3 hours earlier." My shoulders sunk in disappointment. This was going to be the day the group hung out together and enjoyed the sun, sea and sights Spain had to offer us - I suppose that was the problem.
"Oh." Was all I could muster. "I'll let Calum know."
"Thanks Pops. See you later." We exchanged goodbyes as I hung up, turning to the bathroom just as Calum walked out. The smile on his face fell as soon as he saw my face.
"Management want you to do soundcheck three hours earlier." I got straight to the point, watching Calum's shoulders droop too. It broke me to watch him look so disheartened. I pulled him into a hug, making sure his body was against mine as I wrapped my arms around his neck. "We'll still have a great time. Don't fret. Management are just making sure nothing goes wrong after the delay of touring." Calum rested his head on mine as his hands clung to me as if he was scared of losing me.
"I know. It's just..." he sighed. "Never mind. You're right. Let's look at the positives." He moved his head and both of us looked at each other, drinking in each other as we stood together for a moment.
"We should get ready for breakfast." I said as my eyes fell on the clock, signalling that we only had fifteen minutes before we were due to meet the others downstairs.
"Do we have to?" His eyes were roaming my body once more, a hint of rebellion in his eyes.
"Cal..." I whined, putting my hands on his chest to try and push us apart a little. "They're literally waiting for us downstairs..."
"Let them wait."
