Chapter 5
Poppy's PoV
I leapt out of the car instantly, catching up with Crystal as she stormed away from everyone in the car. The red light quickly turned green and the car pulled away, leaving us behind on a random Spanish street.
"Crystal?" I questioned carefully. She sped ahead of me, her arms crossed over her body as she walked.
"Not now Poppy." She shot me down straight away, hoping I'd leave her alone. I followed her, slightly behind, as she rushed around. Her head darted from side to side as she took in the shops, finally laying eyes on one in particular that she ran into without hesitation. I wasted no time in following her into this food place, although upon entering I couldn't see her anywhere around.
"My friend, did she-?" I questioned the till staff in the hope they knew.
"In there." One said as he pointed towards the bathrooms where Crystal finally emerged, looking worse for wear and rubbing the back of her hand across her mouth.
"Water please." She ordered from the man, handing him some money as he passed her a bottle.
"Feel better soon, Miss." He smiled as she took the water, sipping it as she walked out of the shop, walking past me as if I wasn't there.
"Crystal?" I said again as I turned and followed her, confusion filling me as I tried to piece everything together. The sudden sickness, the random man she saw in France, the inability to talk about it. Wait. "Oh my God, Crystal!" It suddenly pieced together in my head and she suddenly stopped still, turning to me with tears in her eyes.
"Sometimes I wish you weren't a nurse." She said flatly, knowing I'd finally worked it out.
"Are you... pregnant?" I asked quietly, knowing any moment now a pap could leap out of the bushes recording everything we said. She nodded sadly.
"Don't get me wrong, I'm happy but I just haven't told Michael yet. I don't know how to. He's going to be worrying about me while he's touring and i don't want that." She sighed as I pulled her into a hug. She gratefully accepted it as she rested her head on my shoulder.
"Don't worry, Crys, you'll work it out. How far are you?" I asked carefully, knowing she probably hadn't quite had the thought sink in yet.
"Only a few weeks. The guy I went to see was a private doctor. He did a blood test and said i was but I'd have to wait a week or two for a scan." She continued as we walked, heading slowly towards the town. "Car journeys are really hard for me right now." She added, making me realise why she'd jumped out of the car so hastily.
"This is so exciting! But we need to watch you carefully, you need to eat and drink often to keep your energy up." My nurse instinct was back and crystal rolled her eyes, slapping my arm.
"For once, please just be my friend and not my nurse." I let out a sheepish smile.
"Right. Sorry." I said, both of us knowing that it was never going to happen.
"And please don't tell anyone. Until it's official and I've had scans and know everything is healthy and happy, I don't want anyone to know." She ordered me, her eyes narrowing at me putting me under pressure.
"No of course! It's like patient confidentiality." I said, causing her to smile.
"I knew you'd be the first to suss it out." She gave me a playful punch and I acted hurt.
"Wouldn't be a good nurse if I didn't."
We carried on walking in a comfortable silence as we headed towards the town.

We finally caught up with the others, and Crystal had had enough time to calm down and sort herself out to be able to face Michael. We'd talked about a plan on how she was going to tell him but it would involve me distracting everyone else so they didn't get suspicious. What better way to do that, I thought, than heading to a street performance that was happening in the middle of town. I, reluctantly might I add, dragged the three guys and two girls towards the show, where a magician was doing an act.
"Can I have someone from the audience?" The magician asked and I instantly volunteered Bex, knowing she'd be the hardest to keep entertained. The magician got to work with a deck of cards, asking her to pick a card whilst we all watched in awe as he placed it randomly back in the pack and threw the whole back in the air. He grabbed a nail and slammed one random card floating down onto the point, piercing it. As all the cards landed on the floor, he took the pierced card off the nail and showed it to Bex who screamed as she nodded, reiterating that the seven of clubs was her card. The audience broke into applause as the magician bowed, quickly pulling a flower from his sleeve and handing it to her. We all clapped and cheered as she came back to us with a huge grin on her face. Luke was next to be volunteered and the magician took his watch, wrapping it in a white cloth as he quickly grabbed a hammer and smashed the cloth over and over.
"Hey!" Luke pouted as the magician picked the cloth up and shook it, the sound of shattered glass obvious. Luke narrowed his eyes at me as he scowled, upset that his watch was now broken because of me. The magician quickly waved his hands around the cloth and then grabbed Luke's wrist, suddenly having the watch appear back on his wrist in perfect condition. He lifted up the cloth and opened it, it was empty. The crowd went wild as they cheered him, and Luke came back to us with a relieved look in his eyes.
As I turned back round, I noticed Michael and crystal walking back to us. I offered a small smile as I turned to the others.
"I'm quite hungry actually, shall we get some lunch?" I asked and everyone nodded eagerly, dispersing from the crowd to find the best food place for us all.
