Chapter 55
Naomi's POV (authors note: guess who's back!!)
It was exhausting trying to catch up with Calum, knowing that recently they had all been hiding under the radar. None of the band were really posting on social media and it was making it harder to trace them. I knew they had tour dates in California so that led me to the heart of the bustling state but tracking them down now was almost impossible.
Since my collapse, the doctors had prescribed me some medication to stabilise my iron and vitamin levels as well as reduce my blood pressure. It had taken a while for them to agree I was fit to fly, despite me lying and acting, pretending that my mother was sick. However I remained on my social media fan accounts, scrolling all day to find out any information that would help me track this band down. Luckily, the update accounts were on top of it and provided me with hourly news that kept me involved in their journey. They'd travelled to a few other places before they were destined for California, but I knew it was my best bet to head straight there. The tour dates in America were far more spread out than any others, meaning that the band were going to have more time off to explore. I knew the exact places to hit and with the help of the updates, I should be able to find them today. An excited feeling grew in my stomach along with butterflies. Was I finally going to be able to see Calum and Poppy again? I could thank her for her help and then make a deal with them that for some of his money, he wouldn't have to do any work with his kid. Yes, I know technically it wasn't his but who other than me knew that??
However, doctors orders came first and I headed to the hospital for a scan. When the doctors had finally given me the okay to fly, they asked me to check in at my local hospital for some bloods and a scan just to monitor my progress which was okay, it was a relatively short appointment so I didn't need to worry about it imposing on my search for Calum. Heading into the hospital waiting room, I quickly checked myself in and sat in the back corner of the waiting room away from all the cheery mothers and their partners. Yeah, it was okay for some. I was trying to handle this singly.
"So when this has finished, we can meet the guys at the bar." A voice breezed over the busy waiting room. It sounded like Calum.
Could it be?
Was he really here?
I perked up, looking around and noticing the beautiful love of my life sitting near the reception desk with Poppy. They looked so sweet as they held hands, Calum quickly reading something out on his phone to her.
"Then they've reserved us a booth in the theatre to watch Hamilton." I smiled as I looked at him, his beautiful eyes, his short, dyed hair, sitting in the waiting room for pregnant ladies with Poppy.
Wait. What??
No way.
That's impossible.
She can't be.
That's not fair.
He's mine!
He's the father of MY child.
"Poppy Knight?" The sonographer called, leading them both in. Murmurs grew in the waiting room as people gossiped. Luckily, no one had seemed to bring it up on their phones. Spreading this news was going to be my job.
But that wasn't enough.
A fire had grown in my stomach. They'd slept together. She'd taken advantage of my love and now she was pregnant with his child. She'd touched my man. Without my permission. I didn't mind them walking around looking all sweet but THIS, this was something else.
His body was mine and mine only, it was reserved for me. It was there to bring my child into the world. Not hers. She's just a cheap imitation of me, he went from Gucci to Walmart. From champagne to fizzy water. She was nothing.
I couldn't handle this any more. I had to get my way or I was going to lose him forever. Without much thought to what I was doing, I loaded up a contact I'd known for a long time and asked for him. I needed his help to get this job done, whether it was messy or not. I didn't care about the implications anymore. He was meant to be mine and I was going to make it happen now. I'd been far too patient for too long.
I watched as the door to the room opened and the two of them came out, arms round each other as Poppy clutched some scan photos. Calum was beaming. My brain seemed to stop thinking and, in a zombie like state, I got up and followed them out of the waiting room. I waited until we hit a clear area before I grabbed their attention.
"I suppose a congratulations is in order?" I watched them both freeze up, the happy conversation dying instantly as they heard my voice. I cradled my rather large baby bump as they turned round, not quite sure what to do.
"Naomi?" Calum barely managed to speak.
"After everything, you're going to have a baby with her?" I snapped, my eyes narrowing at Poppy, who carefully protected her pictures with both hands.
"Naomi, this is my life now. You have to accept that. Poppy was good enough to help you when you collapsed and she didn't tell anyone what had happened. Please let us be and leave us to enjoy this time." Calum took an instinctive step ahead of Poppy as if he was protecting her. Not for long, my love, when my friend comes to help me.
"I have my press friend on speed dial." I threatened, my hand spinning my phone around as if teasing them. Calum's hands flew up in Defense.
"No! Please, Naomi. Please don't." Poppy begged, her cutesy little eyes batting their long eyelashes at me. She was sickening.
"We can work this out Naomi. Just let's talk about this. We don't need to jump to this. Shall we go and sort this now?" Calum's voice was soft and sweet, soothing me. I glanced at the time.
"I've got my scan in two minutes. Wait for me, we can discuss it afterwards." I snapped, ordering them to sit on some chairs in the corridor. They sat without a word, both of them finally looking at each other with fear in their eyes. Good. Just wait to see what else I have planned.
