Where am I?

Uni found himself in a sort of cave standing in front of a broken portal, holding a block of obsidian.

What on earth am I— 

His thoughts countered his movements as he placed the block down by the portal.

Why can't I move on my own? He thought, perplexed and slightly horrified at the same time. The sounds of voices could be heard and he, or so he thought it was himself, turned towards the sounds. There he saw four figures clad in iron armor: Nick, Dawn, Ashlie... and himself.

Is that me? What is going on?! His mind raced as he felt himself move towards them and began speaking. Except it wasn't him speaking.

"Oh, hi there!"

That voice—

"Oh my god." He, or rather the Uni standing right in front of him, said.

"Wow, there's a lot of you guys." The voice coming from himself said.

How am I not able to speak on my own yet think at the same?

"Uni that looks like you." Ashlie said.

"Uh, hello?" Nick greeted questioningly.

"Hello?" The Uni asked awkwardly.

"Hey good-looking fellow, what are you doing here in a cave like this? It's dangerous you know." Said the voice coming from himself.

I know that voice. What am I doing in Duni's head?

"Uh, it is. And what are you doing in our mine?" The Uni asked.

I must be dreaming of the first time we met with Duni. Uni realized. This is so weird, it's like I'm viewing this through his eyes while being able to have my own thoughts.

"Oh I'm sorry, I didn't realize this was your mine," He, or rather Duni, continued. "Allow me to uh, what's the word... ah, introduce myself!"

"My name is Duni."

Suddenly everything went black and Uni found himself in a void of nothingness.

What the?

He then felt two things: Pain... and solace.

Uni woke up with a start, rising from his bed and clenching his chest. He took some time to calm himself down and process his thoughts.

"Bloody hell..." He mumbled to himself, rubbing his head. The pug looked around and found himself still in his bed in his room, everything appearing to be the same as it always was.

What kind of dream was that? Uni wondered. From what he could recall, he was dreaming of the first time he and other others met Duni, but it was through his eyes and—

The realization came like a jolt.

"That's where he is!" He exclaimed aloud, then covered his mouth with his paws immediately to silence himself. I hope I didn't wake anyone... Footsteps could be heard and Uni turned his head slightly to see Dashlie coming up the stairs of his room.

"Dashlie?" He said, puzzled.

"Well would you look at that, the sleeping beauty is up." The albino woman replied snidely.

"I hope I didn't wake you guys up." The pug commented genuinely.

"Wake us up? It's almost noon you lazy sack of fur. I was walking by and heard a sound upstairs, so I came to check up on you." Dashlie said, flicking some hair off to the side in an irritated manner.

"Oh." Was all Uni could reply with.

"What were you shouting about anyways?" Dashlie asked.

"I had a weird dream and— Hold on a second. Go gather everyone else and I'll explain everything." Uni said, getting out of his bed.

"Alright, whatever," Dashlie replied, rolling her eyes. She pointed an accusing finger at the pug. "This better not be a waste of my time."

The five of them sat around the table, most of them looking annoyed as always.

"Tell me why we're here again?" Came the gravely voice from Dres.

"I already told you idiot, Uni has something he wants to say." Dashlie snapped at him.

"No? You clearly told me to 'get my pale ass over to the dining room, we're having a meeting' and just left." Dres retorted.

"Why you little—" Dashlie started, but was cut off by a groan from Don.

"Do we have to listen to these two idiots argue?" The jester complained.

"Alright, alright, everyone just be quiet. I called you all here for a meeting because I know where Duni is." Uni proclaimed.

"About time." Ddawn muttered. Uni narrowed his eyes at the robot but said nothing.

"And where would that be?" Don asked.

"Down in that abandoned mine at our base." Uni replied. He was met with silence as four sets of eyes stared at him boredly.

"Um... don't you guys want to know how I figured it out?" The pug asked, not sounding as confident as before.

"Not really? I mean it's just another place we haven't searched," Dashlie replied. She waved a hand nonchalantly. "But since you were mumbling about weird dreams before I guess we might as well hear your insight."

"Weird dreams?" Don echoed.

"Well, yeah. I had a weird dream last. I was down in that cave by a broken portal. I saw Nick, Ashlie, Dawn, and myself. I was seeing this but couldn't move or speak on my own, and the voice I heard coming from myself was Duni's." Uni explained.

"So you were seeing through Duni's eyes, but in a sort of omniscient point of view?" Ddawn deduced.

"Yes, something along the lines of that," Uni answered. "Anyways, the conversation that was going on was the first time me and the others met Duni. After he introduced himself, I suddenly woke up."

"What does that have to do with where Duni is currently?" Don asked.

"Easy. Duni mentioned in the letter that he wants to meet in 'the place where it all began so we could end it'. At first I was confused by the phrase 'where it all began', but it finally makes sense. Where I first met Duni was where all this mess started, and that was in that cave." Uni concluded. There was a moment of silence as the information was processed throughout the group. Dres was the first to get up from his seat.

"Alright that's good enough for me," The pale, bearded man declared. "Let's go so I don't have to hear anyone whine about the stupid lost pug anymore."

"Okay!" Uni declared, happy to get a move-on. He and the other four made their way out of the house and down to Hard Landing. A quick turn and they were at the entrance of the mine. Uni stepped up and grabbed on the door handle.

"Here we go then." Uni declared, opening the door. They all then proceeded to head downwards. There were still a few torches that lingered from a while back, but most had to be relit. Then things became easier to see as they descended.

"I haven't been in this stuffy cave before." Dres commented.

"I have." Ddawn said.

"Really? When?" Don asked.

"Oh right, I remember. Ddawn was pretending to be Dawn for a while after that Halloween party Uni and his friends had." Dashlie pointed out.

"Heh. Took you imbeciles a while to figure that out." Ddawn gave a small laugh.

"Yeah, I know..." Uni replied sheepishly. Once they weaved through the cave system they came across an opening. Lava could be seen in the distance as well as a broken portal against the wall.

"Hold on I think I see something." Uni said, stopping the others behind him. The pug stepped over and saw a figure sitting down on the floor beside the portal, its back to him.

"Duni?" Uni called out hesitantly. The dark-furred pug stood up and turned to face the the pug and the others behind him. His eyes were tired and he held a sword to his paws. A smile crept up his face, sending a shiver down Uni's spine.

"Hello there friend."
