Ch. 16: The Triwizard Champions
Ch. 16: The Triwizard Champions
"WAKE UP ELIZABETH!" Jenna's voice yelled in my ear, a hint of a laugh in her voice as I jolted awake. I snapped up in my chair, my heart pounding a half a mile a minute in my chest, instinctively inching away from the loud sound.
In fact, I backed so far away that I actually slipped out of the slick bench and fell on to the hard cobblestone floor of the Great Hall.
A few people at surrounding tables sniggered and hid their grins behind the palms of their hands. My skirt had flown up a little, flashing my green polka-dot underwear. I yanked it down and laid there for a moment, feeling a subtle stinging in my tailbone, looking up at the Hogwarts night sky, with its twinkling stars. Still cool, I thought.
Despite all of that, I couldn't remember passing out.
"Ouch." I mumbled and slowly picked myself off the ground, not even caring that I had just flashed everyone my underwear, probably. I brushed off my butt, flushed with annoyance. The few Gryffindors that had actually noticed, or cared, that I'd fallen merely watched me and returned to their food and conversations. "That hurt." I yawned, stretching my arms over my head with a groan. I scratched the back of my messy hair and sent a dark glare to Jenna.
"Gez, Elle. You're a hot mess." Lana chuckled at my nonchalant expressions. "You could wait half an hour before you pass out? The Tri-Wizard choosing is about to start in five minutes."
I plopped back down on the bench next to Fred and rubbed my eyes. "Fuck you Jennifer." I sighed and rubbed my back. "That really hurt."
Jenna's eyes became really big at my harsh language, and I suddenly felt as if I had just kicked a little puppy. "I'm sorry, Elle."
"Nooo, don't look at me like thhhaat!" I whined and pushed my bangs away from my face. "I'm sorry, I didn't mean to be harsh, I was just up studying for the test we had in Transfiguration earlier today-I'm running on empty."
Jenna just shrugged, all traces of her having been hurt by my words were gone. "No problem, you kinda did just embarrass yourself in front of the whole school." She scooped some vanilla ice-cream out of her golden bowl and plopped it into her pink mouth, then frowned at me. "Why do you call me Jennifer when you're pissed? It's not even my name."
Lana agreed to this with a nod, watching me with her head resting on her propped fist. "She thinks it sounds more strict." Lana was right.
I sat back into my seat, facing Hermione with the Twins to my left and the Potter boy to my right. I looked down the rows of Gryffindors that I now shared a home with, and wondered if anyone I recognized would be picked to participate in the Twi-Wizard tournament. I looked at Fred and George, paying particularly close attention to Fred who was closest to me. He still had a few grey eyebrow hairs poking out from his furrowed brow as he talked animatedly with Lee about their chances.
He caught my watching gaze and leaned close, bending his neck to whisper into my ear with a smirk playing at the corners of his lips. "You know, I have the same pattern of underwear." He made his voice husky and grinned.
I rolled my eyes and slapped his shoulder. "Gross. I can't believe you saw them."
"Who didn't?" George threw his head back with a devious chuckle.
"Relax," Fred laughed, rubbing his shoulder coyly. "I was only havin' a laugh."
Neville raised his hand, a little red in the face. "I-I didn't."
"Thank you, Neville," I said, gesturing at the blushing boy as he ducked his head at the attention. "Nice to know some boys here have respect." I glared up at Fred and he just shrugged. I took a sip of my grape juice while Fred whispered darkly into my ear once more.
"Hey, respect is nice and all, but it doesn't put me to bed at night."
Lee and George chortled in response, while Hermione, who had been trying to drown out all of our shenanigans in the pages of a perfectly good book, snapped her book shut and shot us all the most motherly look that could only be interpreted as 'could you possibly look any more like complete arseholes?'
I snorted and choked on my juice, I can't believe he just said that. I began coughing and lightly tapping my chest to get some air into my lungs. I almost hated the fact that I wanted to laugh more than I wanted to call him an idiot.
"Kidding," Fred added. He pointed at my Potions notebook, taping it with his freckled forefinger. "Did you see my addition to your notes?"
Autonomously from my will, my right brow arched on my forehead. I flipped to the newest pages in my book and stared down at a new notebook drawing. I thought about it," Fred said, "and I realized that I could draw just as well as ol' Ced."
Smiling up at me was a crude stick figure of Fred with a blinking wand in one hand, a crown on its head and a golden sash around its torso. It read 'Triwizard Champ, Fred Weasley' with Fred's signature beneath it.
"Who's the chick?" I asked, keeping my face straight.
Fred baulked and looked at the drawing once more. "Wha--? No, that's me. See? It's got my name on 'im."
"Oh," I faked realization, picking up n=my notebook and turning it as if to get a better look at the whole image. "Yeah, I guess it is! That's funny. I thought it was your mum."
Before Fred could say anything else, Headmaster Dumbledore had called everyone to be silent.
"Everyone, lend me your attention." He stood up at the front of the room, next to the Goblet of Fire as it bubble brightly with bright blue flames, casting an azure glow throughout the Great Hall.
For a rare moment, the entire student body grew quiet. Every voice was hushed in anticipation for the occasion. We all peered towards the glowing goblet, then at the blue-hued faces of our peers. Who would be chosen? All I really knew was that this was the most interesting year I'd had in school so far.
"Tonight, we will see who has become a Champion of the Tri-Wizard Cup and will participate in the Tournament. Let me remind you that once you have been chosen, there is no turning back. You will be a champion." He cast a sombre glance around the room, then tapped his wand on the Goblet of Fire. "Let us begin."
Light flames licked out and around the goblet, shooting ghastly tendrils of fire into the air and creating a ring around the stone basin. A popping noise exploded through the room as a lightly burnt piece of paper fluttered out of the goblet. Dumbledore reached out a calm hand and snatched the paper out of the air, reading off the name. "The champion of the school of Durmstrang is Viktor Krum!"
Loud cheers sound throughout the room, I snuck a glance at Hermione to see that she was beaming and cheering a little loudly for someone who hardly knew the guy. The beefy guy stood up from the Slytherin table and strut to the front of the Great Hall, shaking hands with McGonagall and Dumbledore before heading inside the chamber in the back of the Hall.
Another loud pop sounded and Dumbledore grinned and grabbed the fluttering piece of brown parchment then read out the name. "The champion for Hogwarts is Cedric Diggory!"
Dumbfounded, I paused and looked at Jenna and Lana, he won?! We all nodded at the same time and jumped up, screaming at the top of our lungs for him as he made his way to the front of the stage to shake hands with the teachers.
Hey, after all, we promised we would.
Dumbledore chuckled as he shook the blushing Cedric's hand and called out to him: "Looks like you already have your own fan club!"
Cedric just nodded with a large grin and chuckled before heading back to where Krum already was. Once he was safely inside, the three of us all sat back down, not caring that pretty much every head in the Great Hall was turned on to us. Sometimes, you just gotta pretend like you don't care what anyone thinks of you.
The now-familiar sound of the Goblet filled the air, drawing everyone's attention. Dumbledore reached and caught the whimsical piece of parchment that was definitely costly and probably belonged to a girl. "And our third, and final champion for the school of Beauxbatons Academy is Fleur Delacour!"
Lana's eyes nearly popped out of her head as she watched her silvery haired cousin make her way to the front of the Hall with a humble smile. She arched a brow and turned to me with a hint of a smile. "I didn't think she'd enter. Wonder if Aunt Apolline knows," she said mostly to herself.
I jumped up with a whistle and called to her. "Woo-hoo! Fleur! Bon travail mon amie!" Good job my friend!"
Her deep blue eyes snapped towards the direction I was standing in and searched me out, finally finding me, her face stretched into a wide grin and she waved before following the rest into the chamber of champions.
This was actually going to be more interesting than I'd originally thought. I actually cared bout 2/3rds of the Champions. Didn't expect that.
Dumbledore silenced everyone with a clap of his hands, happily. "Well, there you have it! Our three Champions for the Tri-Wizard Tournament, they have a long journ--"
Snape slowly got up from his chair, staring horrified at the burning goblet. "Headmaster," He called to Dumbledore and he turned to look as well.
The usually flaming blue goblet was now a bloody red colour and spitting out dark, purple flames with a wave of boiling anger. A couple of gasps of concern rung through the Hall, as we waited to see what was unfolding. With a burst of colour, the goblet spit another piece of paper out of its basin. Dumbledore quickly snatched it out of the air, like a giant snatching an intruder from its hiding place.
"Harry Potter." I heard him mumble to himself and I snapped my head to look at the messy black-haired boy that I had grown accustomed to. Harry's green eyes went wide under his round spectacles and he shrunk low in his spot. Even he looked shocked.
"Harry?" My heart thudded a little, this was not going to be pretty.
"HARRY POTTER?!" Dumbledore's voice boomed through the Great Hall, but Harry was frozen to the seat of the bench, I could see him trying to duck behind Ron's tall body, but Hermione and Lana wouldn't let him.
"Harry, go!" Hermione shoved him a little and tugged on his tie, getting him into the air, nervously. "Harry, come on. Harry, get out there." She muttered to him, I could feel her fear for Harry like a sixth sense.
The room was utterly quiet as Harry slowly made his way to the front of the room, I could practically take this knife on my dinner plate and cut the air it was so thick.
A few calls came from the Slytherin and Hufflepuff tables. "He's a cheat!"
"He ain't even seventeen!"
"Of course, the Boy-Who-Lived."
"You don't even need this competition, Potter!"
I sent a glare to all of the speakers, but I knew that it really didn't make any difference. Harry's head drooped a little. I wasn't sure what was going on here. How could he have entered? Hermione and I locked eyes, and I could tell that we were wondering the same quizzical question: how did this happen?
I really doubted that he had even put his name in, let alone knew about it judging by the lam to the slaughter look on Harry's face. He looked as if he wanted the cobblestone flooring to split open, for the Earth to swallow him whole. I could relate.
Anxiously, I looked up at Fred, expecting him to crack a joke about this and everything would suddenly be fine, but he never did. Instead, as I looked at him, his expression kind of scared me. It was a reflection of my own, nervous and a little scared. However; I detected a little mixing of jealousy in his attitude, but not as much as what was blatantly obvious on Ron's face.
Ron looked pissed and jealous. He was almost green, and it wasn't his color.
Dumbledore just thrust Harry's paper into his hands and pointed him to the chamber, Snape caught up to Harry and grabbed the back of Harry's robes, pulling him along. It made me question if beatings were allowed at this school. I think Harry was about to get fifty lashes.
All the teachers looked at each other in shock before scrambling to follow Dumbledore and Snape into the chamber, trying to fairly settle the dispute. My mouth dropped open in surprise. What was going on?
The old caretaker jogged to the front of the Great Hall and yelled at everyone, telling them to go to bed. Everything would be cleared up in the morning.
From where I was sitting, I could hear yells coming from the chamber where Harry and the rest of the champions had been sent to. I jumped up from the bench and brushed off my skirt. "Time to go..." Lana and Jenna hopped up as well, not wanting to stick around and listen to Harry get scolded.
Hermione, George, Fred, and Ron nodded as well and stood up to leave. "I'm really worried, Ron," Hermione whispered as we began to make our way up to the common room.
"I'm not. Harry put his name in there-he didn't even tell me he was doing it. Or how." Ron growled and shook his head angrily. "It's always Harry Potter. Harry this, Harry that. No body even knows I exist." He whined and I rolled my eyes at his words, honestly he sounded like a big baby. Hopefully he will get over his tantrum by morning.
Hermione sighed, "That's not true Ron." But didn't talk about it anymore. I jumped a couple of stairs and ran to the portrait of the Fat Lady, just wanting to sleep in my nice comfy bed.
"Passw-"
"Anaphoria" I blurted and she glared at me a little.
She slowly opened and mumbled under her breath. "Could be a little nicer, you know."
Sighing, I just jumped up through the hole and made my way to the stairs leading up to the girls' room when a smooth hand grabbed mine casually.
Stopping, I turned and looked up at Fred with a sigh, "What?"
"Meeting tonight, at nine-thirty. So you can sleep, you're welcome." I groaned, it was nine o'clock now, what was I going to do for thirty minutes waiting for the meeting?
"What am I supposed to do for thirty minutes? It's not long enough to take a nice long shower and it's too long for me just to change into pajamas." I whined. "Can't we just do it now?"
George sniggered and walked up to the boy's dorm, over hearing our conversation.
"Well, I can think of something we could do for th-" Fred began but I just covered his mouth with my hand, not wanting to hear it.
"Don't wanna hear it, I'm going to go up to the room, you enjoy it down here. Alone." I smirked and began slowly climbing up the stairs, believing I had finally beat him. I don't know how Fred and I had become that kind of friends that said nothing but bullshit to each other, but here we were. I couldn't help but find it funny. Plus, it was a nice feeling to have someone you could be completely blunt with.
Fred called to me as I was almost out of sight. "One of these days, L! One of these days, you will say yes!"
I chuckled at his antics but kept climbing the stairs. He didn't like the fact that I was ignoring him, he wanted to get a rise out of me.
Raising his voice, he got closer to the staircase. "But, not only one time, you know."
"Huh?" I frowned and turned to look at his grinning face at the bottom of the stairs. "What does that mean?"
"I mean that I'll have you saying yes, over and over and ov-" Fred kept talking while I quickly peeled off my right shoe. "And over and over-" I chucked the shoe, hitting him in the gut, but he still kept going. "And over again."
"You finished now?" I sighed, kind of wishing I hadn't thrown my shoe. I would need to get it later.
Fred shrugged. "For now."
Rolling my eyes, I just kept ascending the staircase, tired. Slowly, I clambered my way up the stairs and eventually reached the fourth year girl's shower. I looked at my pocket watch and saw that I still had around twenty-five minutes, so I decided to take a quick shower.
I grabbed my fluffy towel and tank top and short shorts that I was going to sleep in a brought them all to the bathroom, glad that no one else was using the showers.
I scrubbed some shampoo through my hair while singing along to some song in my head that I couldn't quite remember the name of. Every so often, Fred's stupid cartoon drawing would flash through my mind and I would laugh and shake my head. It was a sad little drawing, with hardly any thought put into it, but it was still something that reminded me of Fred's personality to a T.
I could tell by how my fingers were beginning to prune, that it was time to get out. I fought back a yawn and wished I could just go to bed. After all, what could the three of them have to say that was so important? I fought back the sleep and sighed. If this wasn't something important, Fred was gonna die. I needed my sleep.
I roughly dried myself off till I was a pinkish colour and threw on a sports bra and my other clothes. I slipped on my slippers and hopped my way downstairs, grinning as I reached the common room at exactly 9:30 on the dot.
However; my grin diminished into a scowl as I took notice that I was alone. Fred and George were nowhere to be seen. "What the..?" I trudged over to the plushy seats where I expected the two of them to be waiting. Not even Lee was down here.
Growling, I threw myself into one of the chairs and waited. They were going to come down eventually, and when they do they will just have to face my wrath.
And I waited.
And waited.
And waited, until eventually, the clock struck ten o'clock, and I was super pissed. Thirty minutes ago they were supposed to be here.
Growling, I jumped up from the chair-not caring that the leather sucked at my flesh and stung a little as I ripped myself away from it. "That's it-if they aren't coming down-I'm coming up."
Trudging my way over to the boy's stair case, I listened to hear if they were possibly just coming down the stairs-but no luck. Shrugging, I took the stairs two at a time, figuring that the dorms worked the same way that the girl dorms did.
As I trudged on, I ran into Harry who was just getting into his dorm. He looked over his shoulder and saw me, backing up a few paces. "Gez Elle. You scared me. What are you doing here?"
"Oh, just going to murder a set of twins and their best friend." I shoved my hands on top of my hips and scowled. "You wanna join?"
Harry chuckled and scratched the back of his head, nervously. "Err, no thanks."
"Oh hey! You're alive." I had almost forgot that he had been chosen at dinner. "What happened?"
Harry rubbed his forehead a little, causing his hair to stick up in the front-showing off his scar. "I'm kind of tired, I'll tell you all about it tomorrow? Fair?"
I smiled lightly. "Yeah, sounds good to me." I began to walk up the stairs again. "See you then, Harry."
"Bye." He chuckled and closed the door behind him.
The stairs began to get darker so I pulled out my wand and used Lumos so I could see what I was doing.
Finally, I reached the dorm belonging to the boys in the sixth year. "Knox." I mumbled to myself, causing the light to go out, I was going to scare them. Taking a deep breath, I steadied myself, getting ready to scream at the top of my lungs.
Angrily, I kicked open the door and let out a loud scream-waking up every boy in the sixth year. "WWWWAAAAAAKKKKKEEE UUUUPPP YYYYYOOOOUUU WWWAAAANNNKKKKKEEERRS!" I screamed, and suddenly all the lights turned on, boys were all over the place. Some where on the floor, some where in their beds and covering their ears, while one boy was even hiding under his bed.
"BLOODY HEEELLL, L!" Fred jumped out of his bed and fell onto the hardwood floorboards, wearing only his boxers. George and Lee on the other hand were still in bed, just covering their ears.
I crossed my arms over my chest with a smug grin. "You deserved it."
"How did you even get up here?" Fred began laughing. "That was a good one, by the way. We thought you would just go to bed and ignore it."
"Yeah, you looked tired anyway." George added with a grin.
I sighed, a little confused at Fred's question. "What do you mean? I walked up the stairs of course."
Fred and George gave each other their famous smirk. "Oh really?" George started.
"Interesting." Fred nodded.
"And to answer your thought process, no I do not take to kindly to people ditching or standing me up. You will pay for it later-trust me."
Fred picked himself off the ground and rubbed his back, sorely. "Good to know."
My attention was drawn to the other boys in the dorm who were either gazing at me stupidly or glaring. "Sorry guys, you all were just collateral damage. If you have a problem with it-take it up with Fred and George and Lee." I shrugged.
Lee quickly coughed. "Eh, actually. I'm no longer a part of this. That's what the meeting was going to be about. I have too many subjects this year to participate in. Sorry, mates." He smiled sadly at the three of us and flopped back down into his bed. "Now if you would be so kind, Elle. Please leave so I can get some shut-eye."
"I'm going to bed..." I sighed and ran a hand through my damp hair. "See you all tomorrow."
✧
I slept extremely well last night, so well in fact that I rolled awake bright and early around six in the morning the next day. And it was a Friday. Friday's a Hogwarts were special because class doesn't start until ten thirty, but unfortunately for me, my body refused to go bake to sleep.
Groaning, I rolled out of bed and threw on my uniform, not caring that the skirt was a little short today and the top was too big, I just wanted to eat something. I was ravenous. I threw on my slippers and made my way to the Great Hall for early breakfast. It had the freshest coffee and that is what I look forward to every morning.
Alone, I walked down all the stairs until I accidentally knocked into a messy-haired kid. "Sorry, kid. Didn't see you there."
"Too early, huh Elle?" Harry grinned at me from behind his glasses and I rubbed my eyes, noticing that he was standing next to my sister as well.
I scratched the back of my head that was thrown up into a messy bun. "Yeah, pretty much. What are you guys up to?"
"Going on a walk after breakfast, you want to join?" Hermione smiled and pushed open the heavy door to the Great Hall that was practically empty.
"Sure." I shrugged and yawned, but was immediately awake when the smell of beautiful coffee struck my nostrils. It was the drink of the gods-I swear. I quickly ran to the table and filled up a golden cup with the black liquid, happily.
"You know...that stuff isn't very good for you." A humor-filled voice called from behind me and I shrugged.
"So? It's delicious." I grinned and gulped down some of the coffee. "Ahhhhh, refreshing."
Cedric rolled his eyes, bit smile at my weird antics. "What are you doing up so early anyway?"
"I couldn't sleep any more." I sighed mournfully and sat down at the Gryffindor bench across from the Hufflepuff table where Cedric was sitting.
"That must be so horrible for you, huh Letter?" A new cocky voice popped up behind me and I sighed.
"Yeah, actually it was Fred. I think I would have gotten more sleep if someone hadn't kept me awake for half the night." I grumbled.
Cedric rose a brow at this statement. "Uh...rephrase?"
Fred wiggled his brow at Cedric. "No need."
My face flushed and I tried to stutter out a retort. "W-wait. NO! That's not what I meant!"
Cedric and Fred looked at each other at the same time and bust out laughing. "Woah, Fred you have her strung pretty tight already and it's only week one!"
Hermione and Harry took seats next to me and Hermione stuck her nose in the air strictly. "If you would stop harassing my sister, Fred."
"Whatever you say, Hermione," Fred mumbled and looked at my cup of coffee. "You know that will stunt your growth, ain't that right Ced? Ced would know."
Cedric rolled his eyes. "I'm not short!" He shook it off but nodded in my direction. "But I don't think Elle needs to worry about too much growth. She's old enough to make that call."
"Yeah, Fred, I'ma big girl now. I do what I want." I stuck my nose in the air and grabbed a bowl of cream of wheat.
"You do what you want, huh?" Fred chewed on an apple and thought over my words. "Interesting. Oh, I have something for you." Fred set his red apple on a plate and dug a few rolls of parchment from his pocket. "George and I are working on some vomiting toffees. Think you could look over the recipe today?"
"Sure, I'll have them back by dinner." I hardly looked up from my breakfast as I responded. Fred happily accepted my response and set the parchment down beside my bookbag.
"Thanks, Letter! We can talk more on it later if you want to dig into the details."
Fred and Cedric walked off to the Quidditch pitch, where they were headed for mixed practice. I'd overheard George and Fred talking the other day about Quidditch schedules being crammed around, with the Triwizard Tournament taking up a lot of space this year. I didn't care enough to pay too much attention, however. I just ate as quickly as I could so Hermione, Harry, and I could go on the walk.
"You done?" Harry asked me and I nodded. "I guess we will be off now."
Hermione led us towards the lake and Harry opened up to the both of us, adjusting the rim of his glasses as they slowly slid down the length of his nose. "Do you happen to know what's up with Ron?"
"He's a baby." I retorted with a snort, Hermione shoved my shoulder lightly, shaking her head with dismay. She explained to Harry her thoughts on the matter while I buttoned up my outer cardigan, watching the early morning sun grow higher in the sky.
"Ron, well, he's just a little jealous of all the attention you get. He feels kind of left out,... you know? Like you are a celebrity and he is your pet monkey that no one cares about."
Harry frowned and rubbed the back of his neck nervously. "You serious? Why?"
I spoke up this time. "Well, honestly Harry, most people like to get a lot of attention. It makes them feel as if they are worth something, I think Ron just feels like he doesn't amount to anything compared to all the things that you are famous for-you get what I'm saying?"
Harry frowned softly, his eyes flickering over Hermione and me as he thought about what we were saying. I could tell that Harry and Ron had a close friendship, so this was weighing heavy on his mind. "Yeah, I just never thought about it that way. Maybe I should talk to Ron."
"No." Hermione held up her hands to stop Harry from walking away. "Let Ron run his tantrum out. You shouldn't be the one to apologize or explain-this is Ron's problem."
"I agree." I nodded. "Ron's got to realize on his own that he is being childish."
We walked around the lake a little more when we ran into Malfoy and his group of friends. "Ah if it isn't famous Potter. Trying to win another trophy for your biography, Potter?" Malfoy sneered, trying to antagonize Harry.
"Shove off, Malfoy." Hermione crossed her arms over her chest, defending Harry.
Malfoy turned his head to look at Hermione with a horrified expression as if she had just spit on him or something. "How dare you talk to me like that, filthy Mudblood!"
My blood began to boil, but before I could do anything, Harry did it first. Quickly, Harry pulled out his wand and tried to hit Malfoy with a boil curse, but sadly Malfoy drew his wand and threw a curse at Harry at the same time, causing the spells to rebound. Malfoy's curse hit Hermione and Harry's curse hit Crabbe, one of Malfoy's goonies.
Hermione squealed in pain and ducked her head, her hand cupping her mouth. She pulled away to check for blood, which earned cheers and laughter from Malfoy's group of friends.
Malfoy saw what his curse did to Hermione and began to laugh hysterically. "Look, you can barely tell the difference between now and before!" He pointed to Hermione's front teeth that had grown extremely large, like a beaver's. They had been a little large before, but nothing weird or freakish.
Malfoy kept laughing and I just couldn't hold myself back as I watched Hermione trying to cover the gigantic teeth, embarrassed.
"Vous petite pute!" I yelled at Malfoy, causing a few of the French girls to look over at us a little scared. I decked Malfoy in the face and watched as he ricochet and fell to the ground with a bloody mouth.
I had to force Harry not to do anything to Malfoy since the hexes had caused a little stir and teachers were beginning to look.
The black-haired girl named Pansy freaked out and fell to her knees next to Draco, grabbing his shoulder with her hand. "Are you okay?!" She cried.
I rolled my eyes and turned to Hermione who had a slow tear running down her face. She wasn't as tough-skinned as I was. I could tell Malfoy's words had really hurt her. "Don't listen to that little prick, Mione."
I rubbed her arms and walked her to the Nurse's office. "I'll totally kick his scrawny ass one day for you, okay?"
Hermione couldn't speak because of the giant teeth, but I could tell that she felt a little better at my words.
"I'll be next to you until the nurse finishes fixing you up." I nodded at her and pulled up a chair next to the bed.
