Final Strike
---Nightmare's POV----
He had him held up by the front of his shirt, lifting him so that his feet couldn't touch the floor. The newbie thrashed about desperately, but the bullies grip was like iron and he wouldn't let go.
I flinched as another bully walked up to him and punched him in the ribcage. The skeleton let out a cry of pain and tried to struggle free. That only earned him another punch, this time to the face.
The leader laughed and threw him on the floor forcefully. The skeletons body crumpled and he lay there, shaking, with blood trickling down his face.
For once I wished that a teacher would come and brake up the fight.
The leader crouched down again and lifted his chin up harshly to face him. "Your going to watch where your going next time. Aren't you?" He growled.
The newbie panted and didn't answer him, glaring at him instead.
"AREN'T YOU?" The leader yelled, punching him in the face again.
He still didn't answer. The leader growled and stood up, grinning manically before stepping on the skeletons hand, grinding his heel down on it.
"I'M SORRY!" The skeletons cried, tears building up in his eyes from the pain. "I'LL WATCH WHERE I'M GOING NEXT TIME I'M SORRY!"
The bullies all laughed and the leader stepped down harder on his hand making him scream in pain. "You should have said that earlier shouldn't you? Its too late now."
Dust glanced at me. "You okay Nightmare?"
I didn't answer and felt myself take a step forwards. "Nightmare?"
The leaded bought his foot off the skeleton's hand and lifted his foot up, with the clear intention to stamp back down on it. That would shatter his whole goddamn hand!
As he brought the foot down I snapped.
A tentacle lashed out, wrapping itself around the foot and yanking it before it could crush the skeletons hand. I tugged it upwards, the leader lost his balance and toppled over, falling to the floor with a crash.
"Nightmare what the hell are you doing!?" Dust hissed, gripping onto my arm.
I growled and stepped forwards, out of the crowd and into the ring.
"Hey you guys!" I called to the bullies, grinning at their unsure expressions as I let my tentacle slither away from their leader's foot. He immediately scrambled to his feet and backed up a bit, growling at me.
I walked forwards and stepped in between them and the skeleton. He tried to look up at me but ended up curling into a ball whimpering. The leader looked me up and down. "This isn't like you tentacle boy. Your famous for giving new kids a bad time."
'Don't tell me you've gone soft!" One of them sneered.
I bristled and growled, my tentacles subconsciously raising to my sides, aiming threateningly at them. "This kids from our year, not yours. You stick to your victims and we'll stick to ours."
Out of the corner of my eye I could see Dream and his two friends push to the front of the crowd. They all frowned when they saw me, assuming I was bullying someone. But their expressions turned confused as they noticed my protective position over the new kid.
"There's a teacher on their way, so I suggest we clear this up." I said, noticing my brothers frantic signalling.
One of them growled and lunged at me. I sighed and side stepped, making them fly past me and nearly hit the crowd of on looking children. But I had wrapped my tentacles around him and slammed him down before he could crash into everyone.
"Was that really needed?" I asked, looking back at the other bullies.
The leader growled and stepped closer to me. "Were both going down kid, this is the end of the line for us, immediate expelling. Might as well go down with a fight."
He was telling the truth. This is probably my final strike for this school, which is complete bullshit seeing as I didn't technically do anything wrong. But the teachers would instantly assume I had something to do with this if they got here now.
"Well, not much of a fight was it?" I purred. "You just ran away from me and stayed back away from the action."
I grinned as he growled and took a step forwards. That's it. I thought. Get mad and attack me. "Not gonna do anything? Pathetic."
That snapped him and he marched forwards, grabbing my by neck of my shirt and lifting me up in the air, bringing his other hand back to punch me.
I didn't fight back and let him hold me in the air. That's when my plan came into action.
"PUT HIM DOWN THIS INSTANT!"
A teacher pushed through the crowd and took in the whole scene. The leader looked up at me, his expression full of rage and hate. He'd realised what I'd done.
By letting him pick me up and nearly punch me, it looked like I was just another victim, not suspecting that I had done anything else.
I smirked at him and he growled, dropping me to the ground. I landed in a crouch and straightened up quickly, waving as the gang got dragged away by teachers.
Another teacher ran over to the newbie I had saved and started talking to him. I could hear him say "was walking when I bumped into one" then I couldn't hear much.
He said the words "then he protected me".
"Who protected you?" The teacher asked.
He pointed a shaky hand at me and I looked away, pretending to check myself for injuries. The teacher was clearly shocked by that. I was nutritious for bullying new kids, not protecting them.
The bell went and teachers came round, ushering everyone to leave.
"Do you want to go to the nurses office?" The teacher asked.
The new kid shook his head and tried to get to his feet. He failed miserably and could only get as far as kneeling before he stopped, hissing in pain.
The teacher looked up at me and I glanced at them.
"Were you injured?" I rolled my shoulders back and shook my head.
"What happened?"
This is where they'll have trouble believing me.
"I saw those guys beating him up and stopped them."
The teacher looked at me sceptically. My explanation was rather short, and me being me, the teacher didn't look entirely convinced.
"It's the truth." The newbie muttered, wincing as he saw his cracked hand. "They were going to crush my hand but he stopped them and stepped in between them and me."
The teacher looked at me and I held their stare, my expression emotionless. They looked away first.
"Let's get you to the nurse." The teacher muttered to the new kid, wrapping an arm around him and helping him to his feet.
"You can go to your lessons." They said, looking over at me. I nodded and walked off in the direction of my class, glancing back once to see the newbie watching me go.
I winced as I tilted my neck to the side. It clicked and I sighed, that's better. The corridors were silent, and only the muffled sounds of teachers talking could be heard.
I got to my class and gripped the handle. This should be interesting.
As soon as I stepped in the questions started.
