What are you all laughing At?
---Ink's POV----
I had basically hung out with Error all weekend. We had gone up last night to see the stars again and now here we are. He was sat on the sofa, stroking my skull while I rested next to him, my head on his lap. I was in absolute bliss.
I was loving the fussing and was purring quietly like a cat. Error seemed to find that rather amusing and was now nuzzling me softly, trying to make me make more of my cat-like noises.
I giggled and hugged him tight, burying my face in his chest. "We're gonna have to leave for school soon Inky." Error whispered.
I whined and sat up, shaking the sleepiness out of my system. "Okay, gimme a sec I need to call Dream about something."
I could have sworn I'd seen Error frown at the mention of Dreams name, but it was quickly lost to a smile. "Okay. Don't be on call for too long."
"I won't."
I walked out of the room and took out my phone, finding Dream's profile and calling it. The phone kept ringing for a while, I frowned, no matter what's going on, Dream always answers the phone quick as a flash. I smiled as the phone picked up.
"Heya Dr–"
"What do you want?"
I blinked. "Nightmare? Why do you have Dream's phone?"
"Cuz he wasn't gonna answer and I was getting bored of the ringing."
"Umm, can I speak to Dream?"
"Nope."
"Why...?"
"He doesn't want to talk to you."
I frowned. "Why? Is he okay."
"No he's not."
Then he hung up. I stood there in shock. What's happening over there? What's up with Dream?
Error walked in with his schoolbag slung over his shoulder. "Come on Ink. Time to go."
I nodded and looked down at my phone, it was still on the contact of Dream. Error glanced at it and rolled his eyes, leaning forwards to kiss me on the cheek. "Let's go."
I smiled and nodded, turning my phone off and running to get my bag. "Okay I'm ready! Let's go."
We walked out the door in time to see Nightmare and Dream walk past. "DREAM!" I called.
Nightmare stopped walking and stared at me. I looked at Dream and frowned. He looked so different. He had bags under his eyes (screw logic) and he looked like he hadn't slept. He wasn't smiling. Dream always had a smile on his face.
"Dream?"
He didn't respond and looked emotionlessly at me. "Do you have something important to say or are you just gonna say my name?"
I took a step back. "What's happened to you?"
He didn't answer and I looked at Nightmare. He simply stared at me, glanced at Error, then turned and continued walking, pulling Dream along with him. Dream didn't protest and walked along after him, giving me one long hard stare.
"What was all that about?" Error muttered.
I frowned as I watched them go. "I don't know..."
---Dream's POV----
Once we got to the school gates I slowed down. I didn't really want to have to go in today. But if I stayed at home alone all day Nightmare would probably come back to find me curled up in a ball, freaking out over nothing.
Nightmare glanced at me and sighed. "I know you don't want to be alone or with Ink and Blue today so just come to the benches at break and lunch."
I looked up at him and smiled weakly. "Okay...thanks..."
Nightmare looked down at me and ruffled the top of my skull. "Stay smiling Dreamy."
Then he walked off over to his friends, leaving me to stand there aimlessly. I looked around slowly and wiped my eyes as I saw Ink and Error walk in along with Blue.
I frowned but quickly corrected myself as I thought of what Nightmare had said and looked away, a small smile on my face. I'm not going to let Ink ruin my day. I can still have fun without him or Blue.
---Time Skip----------------------
At break I rushed out of class before Ink could get me and ran to the field. I quickly spotted Nightmare and his group at the benches and ran towards them, ignoring the sound of Ink calling my name.
Nightmare looked up and waved me over, I skidded next to him and stopped, panting. I turned around to see Ink stood a while back, a hurt and confused expression on his face.
Then Error got of the bench and walked over to him, grabbing his arm gently and whispering something in his ear. Ink glanced at him and nodded, giving me one last look before turning and walking away with Error.
I looked up at Nightmare and smiled and he ruffled the top of my skull. "That's the brother I know." I giggled and batted his hand away.
Suddenly Nightmare let out a yelp and jumped. I stared at him questioningly, wondering why he'd done that so randomly. The others looked at him too, shocked by his sudden outburst.
My question was answered when the new kid stepped into sight, one of Nightmare's tentacles held tightly with both hands. "Got one." He purred, looking at Nightmare's flustered face. "Told you I would."
Nightmare didn't say anything and the new kid laughed, letting go of the tentacle and punching Nightmare playfully on the shoulder.
Nightmare growled and looked away, not meeting anyone's gaze. "Don't do that again."
The kid laughed and tilted his head to the side. "Why?"
I giggled and cleared my throat. "His tentacles are...sensitive..."
"DREAM WHAT THE HELL!?!?"
I giggled and jumped out of the way as Nightmare tried to tackle me. The new kid stood there watching, a purple hue covering his face.
Nightmare eventually grabbed me with his tentacles and held me up in the air upsidedown by my foot. I giggled and booped him on the nose. He sighed. "Well at least your not miserable anymore."
He placed me down and I layed there, starfished out on the grass. A shadow loomed over me and I looked up to see the new kid staring curiously down at me. "Hi." I said. He smiled in response.
I rolled to my feet and looked him up and down. "What is your name?"
He laughed and held out a hand. 'I'm Cross."
I grasped his hand and shook it. "You probably know that I'm Dream."
He nodded. "The infamous positive ball of sunshine that terrorises Nightmare daily."
I giggled and looked over at Nightmare. "Is that what you tell them?"
Nightmare smirked at me and Cross slipped behind him, eyeing his tentacles again. I tried to act unsuspicious, but I also wanted to watch how this would unfold.
Cross reached up for one but it twitched out of the way. Nightmare glanced at me questioningly, trying to figure out what I was giggling about.
Nightmares friends were also holding back laughs as they watched Cross come so close to grabbing a tentacle, but kept on missing.
"What are you all laughing at?" Nightmare growled.
"Nothing." Dust snickered, covering his mouth with a hand.
Nightmare raised an eyebrow and glared at all of us, still oblivious to the fact that Cross was behind him.
Cross jumped just as Nightmare realised. He went to spin around but Cross had grabbed a tentacle with one hand. "Hey Nightmare." He said casually, acting like the tentacle wasn't there.
Nightmare huffed and yanked it out of his grip, letting it trail back to me. I grinned and poked it. Nightmare groaned and looked at me. "Not you as well."
I laughed and walked in front of Nightmare. "Sit."
He glanced at me like I was crazy. "C'mon sit."
He looked at Cross warily and sat down, Cross only looked at Nightmare, confusion already on his face. I sat down behind him and separated three of his tentacles.
Nightmare looked at me, a startled expression on his face. I just smiled mischievously at him and waved Cross over.
"Uh...what are you doing to him?"
I looked up at him innocently. "Do you know how to plat?"
Cross smirked and looked at Nightmare.
"Don't you dare." He threatened.
Cross laughed and sat down opposite me, grabbing a tentacle.
Nightmare groaned and his tentacles went limp for us.
"I hate both of you so much."
--------------------------------------------------
I actually really enjoyed writing this :3
At least Dreamy is happy, I don't like seeing him sad.
I would probably be Cross in the platting situation.
XD
