❦Chapter 20: Another Attack❦
"(Y/n), come on! Now's not the time! We've got to go!" Ari shouted at you, growing stressed. Why, you might ask? Because Jason had found you all and was hacking away at the door.
"No...No...Ashley..." You whimpered; watching the scene play out in your head. You saw how you'd plunged the knife into Ash's eye, then her knee, and finally her chest; the horror and agony stretched across her face.
"Snap out of it!" You gasped as Ari gave you a sharp slap - the sudden hit smacking you out of the memories and back into reality.
"W-What's going on-? Why did you-?"
"He's here! Jason Voorhees!" Ellie cried, pointing at the mask killer and shrieking when he broke through the door.
"Fuck!" Lucas swore and grabbed Ellie's arm, forcing her to stumble back like he did. Elliot shoved the wooden table over and used it like a huge shield; Jason's machete getting stuck in it.
"Everyone to the van! Now!" Ari commanded fiercely, pushing the table further. It fell on the killer and allowed you all time to run, giving you a split second advantage.
Lucas and Elliot both rushed to the door, you and Ari following in their tracks as quick as you could. Then you noticed Ellie wasn't following - the blue-haired girl frozen to the spot. She was gasping for air, having a panic attack as Jason stood up and ripped his weapon out of the wood.
"Ellie run! He'll kill you!" Lucas yelled, trying to limp his way back to her. You stopped him and went yourself, standing in front of and flinging your arms into a T shape.
"Stop! E-Easy... Please, just tell me what you want. I-I know you're not a bad person." You shakily addressed the killer, scared words slipping through your lips before you could stop them.
Jason took a step closer to you, cocking his head to the side as he listened to your words. Ellie on the other hand ran past him, moving towards the stairs instead of the door. The door was the obvious escape route - why would she choose the stairs...?
"No, no, NO! Let go of me you freak! Lu, help me! Please!" Ellie wept when Jason grabbed her ankle, dragging her back down the stairs. Elliot then joined in, snatching up a shard of glass from a broken vase and stabbing the masked male in the neck; resulting in Jason letting go of Ellie.
"Ellie! Run to me!" Lucas demanded frantically, giving her a tight hug as she complied.
"Go (Y/n)! Go now. All of you, do what Ariana says and stay alive." Elliot ordered and pushed you towards the door, standing in front of you with another shard in his grasp.
"No one's getting left behind." You stubbornly retorted.
"I'm choosing to stay. Get out of here!" He shook his head, seeing the killer recover from his attack.
"No! I saved you from Freddy and got you out of that coma! I remember everything now! You were my neighbour, my friend - and I refuse to let you die!" You yelled passionately.
"It's good to know you have your memory back. You were my crush, so at least I can die happy knowing that you're okay. I love you." Elliot weakly grinned, and Ari grabbed your wrist.
"C'mon (Y/n), he's giving us time. We have to leave." She said in a low voice, pulling you closer to the door.
"No...No! Let go of me Ari! Elliot! Come with us, come with us please! NO!" You sobbed as Jason shoved his machete into Elliot's stomach - Elliot not being quick enough with the second shard.
"Let's go!" Ari snapped and tugged your shocked-self to the van, helping you get into the passenger seat again. Ellie and Lucas were already in there; Ellie crying and Lucas holding her close. If it wasn't for her trying to stupidly go upstairs, Elliot would still be alive right now-
"I-I'm sorry (Y/n), I-I'm so sorry!" Ellie choked out, tears streaming down her pale cheeks. You didn't even respond to her, tears not even appearing for you. You couldn't cry - too stunned to start grieving.
"It wasn't anyone's fault. Elliot bravely sacrificed himself so that we could survive. Let's not waste his generosity." Ari stated in a strained voice, gripping the wheel tightly as she tried to control herself.
"Where are we going?" Lucas questioned quietly, also shaken up.
"I don't have a clue. But what I do know is we need to put distance between us and Jason, so that we have enough time to figure out a plan." She decided logically.
"Right." You numbly nodded your head, feeling nothing but exhaustion. You wanted to sleep; to leave this rough reality behind and not feel anything for a while. But then you'd have to deal with Freddy and you weren't ready for that.
"(Y/n)...?" Ari called your name tentatively, wanting your attention as she focused on the road.
"Yeah?" You looked at her with lifeless eyes whilst you waited for her question. You just hoped it wasn't the "are you okay?" question, or the "do you want to talk about it?" one.
"Before I snapped you out of your...state, you said Ashley's name. Why? Did you remember something else?" She delicately wondered. Her question made you think back to the murderous memory, and that's when the tears came.
"Shit, I'm so sorry...forget I said any-"
"Freddy didn't kill Ashley." You whispered miserably, the terrible guilt overwhelming you.
"But then who-?"
"It was me. I killed Ashley." You confessed and hid your face in your hands, trembling.
"Y-You what? No...There's no way. Why would you kill her? I-I don't understand." Ari was stunned as the vehicle sped up.
"I was...evil. I-I think it was because the more time I spent with Freddy, the more twisted I became. I promise you I didn't do it willingly. I'm sorry Ari." You stammered, both of you upset.
"It's...It's not your fault. It was Freddy's. And when we make a plan I swear I will make him pay." Her voice slipped into a deadly growl towards the end, her eyes glinting with the need for revenge.
"So now what?" Ellie asked in a tiny voice.
"It's 3am. I think we should sleep." Lucas planned flatly, forgetting about Freddy due to just encountering Jason.
"Are you fucking nuts? Do you want to get tortured by fuck-face Freddy?" Ari spat out venomously. Lucas stayed silent, remembering the demon who lurked in dreams.
"Let's just...go someplace quiet...Somewhere we can calm down and make a plan." Ellie timidly piped up, calming Ari down a little.
"Right. Good idea. Springwood park is a nice place - I'm sure we can think up a strategy there." Ari decided as she switched road lanes.
"Lu...your bandages are all bloody. Ariana, do you have a medkit in here perhaps?" Ellie fretted over Lucas again, her hands cupping his cheeks. It was a tremendously sappy scene; the typical girlfriend worrying over her wounded boyfriend. So cringey. Or maybe you were just sour.
"Yeah, underneath your seat somewhere. It'll have spare bandages in." Ari answered shortly - switching back to her stern self.
"Okay, thanks." Ellie reached down and pulled out a medkit, ready to help Lucas. Minutes passed as she changed his bloody bandages to clean ones, making sure nothing was infected and that he was all good.
By the time the van pulled up to the park it was 4am - the shining sun peeking over the landscape and giving a thin glow of golden light across the horizon. You all wandered into the park, seeing dog owners walk their pets and early joggers running laps; everything feeling...normal. But nothing about this was normal. Facing not one but two killers, staying awake and running from a supposed legend...it was far too surreal.
How were you meant to keep your friends safe? What kind of plan would you guys come up with? And who was going to come out of this alive? So many questions, but no so many answers. Hopefully you'd have some soon...
