❦Chapter 28: Seraphic Safety❦
You fell onto a cloud, exhausted and immensely confused. Ash - being the good friend she was - caught you before your face smacked onto the fluffy ground, her hold gentle. There were acres of cloudy land; a golden city glittering across the sky and a faint rainbow stretching along the angelic landscape.
"W-Where are we-?" You stuttered in stunned surprise, clinging to her with a little bit of fear.
"We're in God's land. Heaven. You can't stay here infinitely though, otherwise you'll fade away. You can only come here when you die. But for now it'll keep you safe." Ashley answered airily.
"Am I still dreaming?" You gaped at everything, letting her pull you by the hand.
"No. I got you out of that nasty nightmare, don't worry (Y/n)." She smiled and gave you a quick hug before continuing down the cloud-path.
"So you're...real? But the previous you was a fake! I-I don't understand." You exhaled from confusion as you both came closer to the city.
"Amanda Krueger was kind enough to save my soul from Freddy. I was relieved to see that my sister saved you - but when I saw the danger you were in, I couldn't just sit idly by." Ashley shrugged, a warm grin present on her face.
"But you're dead...I killed you." Your eyes filled with tired tears and she stopped; her face full of kindness.
"I have no bitterness about it. Please don't cry (Y/n), you're still my best friend." She softly responded.
"I'm sorry. I'm so so sorry..." You whispered guiltily, burying your head into her shoulder.
"It's in the past. Like I said, I bear no ill will towards you. I want to protect you...will you let me?" Ashley spoke and comfortingly rubbed your back - making sure to be gentle. You nodded and wiped your tears, wanting to regain your composure.
"Good. Now Sister Helena will want to see you, so come along." She hummed as she held your hand in hers again.
"Who's Sister Helena?" You tilted your head, bewildered.
"Sister Mary Helena is Christ's name for Amanda Krueger, he didn't want her to be dirtied by the demon any further. She's eager to meet you." Ash's wings fluttered slightly - indicating her relief that she had you by her side.
"Am I in trouble?" You questioned in a tiny voice, shuddering.
"Trouble? Whatever would you be in trouble for? It's hardly your fault that you're being pursued by a demented demon." She dismissed your claim and shook her head - reassuring you.
"Right. Well thank you for saving me, that ring really stung." You shivered as you recalled the ring's sudden pain, not liking the memory.
"The Rings of Raivern are tremendously powerful - but they're also filled with black magic. He could've almost killed you with that, but then again maybe that was his plan. Who knows? He's an utter psychopath at this point." Ashley shook her head again; but this time it was a shake of disgust.
"Where are the rings even from?" You probed curiously, entering the golden gates of heaven with Ash and stiffening up from shyness.
There were hundreds of angels loitering about; some flying, some walking together or some just lounging on higher clouds. Each angel was stunningly beautiful - their wings and faint halos making their image even more honeying. But what caught your eye the most was the two angels carrying someone past you - the individual struggling furiously.
"Great, another one." Ashley critiqued scornfully, wrinkling up her nose.
"Another one?" You repeated.
"They're descendants of Satan, his...minions. That one right there is an incubus - they've been trying to force sex upon the female angels for months now. Quite frankly they disgust me." She bluntly remarked and stuck her tongue out at the trapped incubus.
He was incredibly attractive; with his glowing magenta eyes and black-painted lips - which were pulled into a crooked grin. His pale purple skin corresponded with his dark hair and cloak, the incubus's muscular body tone showing as the cloak wasn't completely covering him.
His black tail, long catlike claws and sharp ears intimidated you though, so you tried your best to not stare at him. The thing that stood out hugely was that he was wearing a thong...guess incubi don't worry about being revealing, huh?
"So you're the incubus that's been slipping through our defences and preying upon our female angels...how dare you set foot in God's paradise." One of the angels holding the incubus reprimanded him fiercely; repulsed.
"Maybe if your defences weren't so easy to get through I wouldn't do it as much, hmm?" The incubus retaliated in amusement - not having any regret whatsoever.
"Maybe if you weren't so arrogant you wouldn't get caught, ever think about that?" Ashley stepped in - unable to contain herself. She'd always had that righteous attitude.
"Maybe if you weren't so weak I wouldn't-...Oh my, is that what I think it is?" He was about to retort but then stopped, having caught a glimpse of you.
"It's none of your business." Ash brushed his interest away from annoyance, going back to your side again.
"What's a human doing in heaven? She hasn't died yet." The incubus leaned forwards; his expression one of immense interest now.
"Take him away. Now." Ashley decided to ignore his question and instead began to guide you away, impatient to get you to the castle.
"You didn't answer my question, Angel." The incubus called after her tauntingly.
You threw a glance at the incubus from behind, a little bit curious about him whilst you were being pulled away. He mouthed a sentence to you, giving a rather flirty wink afterwards. The very sentence made you blush intently - not knowing how to react. See you in the sheets, sweet-face.
"Like I said, vile creatures. Sorry you had to encounter one. Hopefully you won't see another ever again." Ashley huffed and gave your hand a squeeze, obviously still irritated by the mischievous incubus.
"This is all so much to take in. You...Heaven...Incubi...Angels...Satan... I just can't believe any of this." You were a little overwhelmed - the series of events causing you to become a bit distressed.
"Hey it's perfectly fine to feel confused - it must be a lot to take in. But you'll be onboard soon, so try not to overthink it, 'kay?" She chuckled sympathetically.
"Okay. So my question from earlier...where did the Rings of Raivern come from?" You inquired, wondering about the rings again.
"They came from Satan himself, he welded them for him and his special one." Ash told you as you both entered the golden palace in the centre of Heaven.
"Satan has a special one?" You couldn't help asking questions; you were just so curious about all of this. This was way over your head, but you wanted to know anyway.
"Well...it's rather complicated. See, before Satan was cast out from God's realm, he was called Lucifer. He was the most powerful, intelligent and beautiful angel of them all. But when he turned dark and corrupted, he got banished from Heaven and pushed towards Earth as well as Hell." She began seriously, walking you through the glistening hallway.
"-One day whilst looking for a new victim on Earth, he saw the Queen of Fairies - Queen Lianna. She was helping the humans with their failed crops, using the power of sunlight. She had more than one gift you see, she had many talents. He saw the beauty from her appearance and her actions, so he did the only thing a possessive beast like him could do."
"And what was that?" You anxiously whispered.
"Satan stole her. He abducted her and dragged her down with him. When she wouldn't love him as he'd hoped, he used his evil magic to create something that would force her to love him. The Rings of Raivern." Ashley finished her story and sighed, not liking the story.
"So did they work? I mean...will I end up like Queen Lianna? Forced to love Freddy?" You asked nervously, making a sad smile spread across her face.
"You won't end up like Queen Lianna...because she's dead. She took her own life before he could get the ring on. And no, I won't let that psycho claim you." She wrapped her arms around your shoulders and squeezed you comfortingly, trying to reassure you.
"Thanks Ashley." You hugged her back and felt butterflies buzzing in your stomach; praying that she was right.
You didn't want to end up like Queen Lianna.
